Pip, oh Lordy, Lordy, I'd have to repack her bags and send her back where she came from.
Tune the TV to something intelligent and tell her you'll cancel your service if she even attempts to put Fake News on.
I have a hard headed brother but he doesn't come out of the woods much so I'm safe. -
Thinking of Athena today - this came up in my newsfeed:
-
Bren - whew! I had one of those thingies on my back, circa 1978, and the Dude who excised it took SO MUCH skin, and pulled it together - I've never been able to truss a turkey since then
I'm on the every 6 months, when I remember, now it's mostly what I call sun & age related "barnacles" - which seemed to get worse during the Arimidex years - dry skin? Who knows - just know the wonderful doc I see refills the "freezer" 'em off thingie b4 I visit...PIP - we have to make you a wall poster: "Never try to teach a frog to sing." full disclosure, I adore frogs, especially the wee little peepers who climb up the window screen on my bedroom windows in August nights. Don't know why, but there must be something about the light, moonflower/morning glory vines they like. SO cute, their little suction cup feet - and they're less than an inch long. SO with great affection for frogs, just let the human species ribbitt, ribbitt away, and for the most part, love'em anyhow.
Then, Pip, there's always the "bless her heart" reponse, learned that from Southern Friends...tee, hee...never meant as a compliment

-
Sunny, ah yes, the "bless her heart" snark. Always followed by an oh so subtle eyeroll.

Sunny....wondering if your little frogs are some sort of tree frog. We have very tiny ones here and they are called tree frogs. We generally see the bigger "yard" frogs that like to spend time around the brick foundation of our house.....or places where there seems to be a small amt. of moisture. We like them all.........the little tr5ee frogs by the way 'sing' quite loud and can in fact, make it pretty noisy outside.
Well, I'm going to have to put another something on my list of things to look up on the Internet in hopes of learning something. Tree Frogs....I'm sure they are one of Mother Natures blessings.

pip57 - Wow. On what planet is Sarah smarter than Hillary. Certainly not this one.
I LOVE those giraffes, bluedahlia. Those animals are just the coolest.
Loveyour finds, IllinoisLady. I'm addicted to purses.
I wonder if Shellie Zimmerman recanted because she's terrified of him. I wish he was in prison so someone can help him hang himself...like Ariel Castro.

Hi Friends,
PiP .. Don't know how you stay so calm. Love the "bless her heart" posts! Mr. Tim is very right wing and I absolutely refuse to discuss politics with him. My mom is the same way. Those two love their Fox news channel and really like talking to each other! When Tim gets worked up about something on Fox news and tries to talk to me about it ... I just give him the "stare." I won't be engaged in those conversations.
Sunnyflowers .. The spot on your back sounds just like one I have on my chest. After it was stitched up and healed, it looks just like a bullet hole! I've actually had people ask me if I was shot. Ha!
Thanks all for your kind words about my booboo. I'm feeling fine today.
hugs,
Bren

My brother when I last spoke to him told me that GWB was the BEST PRESIDENT THE U.S. EVER HAD AND I WAS STUPID TO THINK THAT HILARY OR OBAMA WERE ANYTHING BUT GARBAGE - now, this is a brother who has never lived in the U.S. and hasn't visited there except for two trips to Florida in the 60s - he is also my ADOPTED brother which makes me quite happy that those genes aren't running around in my body - we haven't spoken for three years because during that phone call (lecture) he also mentioned that he didn't want to have anything to do with me anymore - he's just one of those people who is best left to his own devices - he does keep in touch with one of my cousins (he hasn't spoken to the rest of them in 20 years - another vendetta he started) - that's how I keep an eye on him - he's 71 a little old to be harbouring a grudge methinks - honestly PIP I know just how you feel!
-
Bren - shall we coin a "bless his heart" in Mr. Tim's honour? No, he sounds like too nice a person...but I still remember visiting a friend in Atlanta years ago, and learning a lot about "bless her heart" - shudder...chills, etc.
Jackie - think my little night friends are tree frogs, cuz of the "suction" of their little feet. ALL I see is the, ah, scuze me Ms. Frog, is the under side, cuz she's "sticking" to the screen with those adorable little suction pads. Tho my book says 1 3/4 inches, and peepers are only 1 inch, MY tree frog is more the size of the peeper, but gray with suction cups like the tree frog. Just know I ADORE the late in the month August nights when I see them on the window screen. Only time I see them. Of course we HEAR the peepers in Spring, and so welcome their songs, esp. after a hard winter. Being OLD, and happily supplied with a life time of little batteries for my BTE Oticon purple hearing aids ( when I am old I will wear purple, remember?) - the peepers don't disturb my sleep as they do some folks who also like to sleep with their windows open, cuz when I put my Purple hearing aids to sleep, I can't HEAR them. Still hear the occassioinal cricket, esp if she comes into my cabin - how can one little creature make THAT MUCH NOISE inside a little house? whew....good thing they're good luck, or I'd be tempted to stomp her, if I could FIND her...
-
I love frogs - of any size. We used to have bullfrogs in a previous house, but, alas, they put in a housing development behind us - that was the end of the frogs. When in Hawaii, I love to see the geckos. For the most part I prefer they be outside, as I don't like their little "leavings" on the walls, but if they get in, I dont sweat it. I know they eat up all the bugs. I don't think there are any frogs in Hawaii - though there may be, but I've never seen any.
I do know that there are no snakes. My MIL and I had a "discussion" about that, as her son (not hubby) told her that they imported mongoose to Hawaii to kill the poisonous snakes - and so now they had no snakes. (shakes my head) Trying to be non-argumentative (it DOESN"T PAY to argue with MIL) I asked her how the snakes got there.... (seeing as how Hawaii is in the MIDDLE OF THE DAMN PACIFIC OCEAN - and for sure no one would BRING poisonous snakes there) When she said just the same way the birds did, or the goats or the pigs, I stopped. I figured it didn't pay to continue.... Maybe next time I'll say "well, bless your heart!!"

Blue, thought provoking video. Soldier's reply made me cry.
RL, thank you for the fashion update. There was a short article in our local paper on Sunday. Thought of Athena. Portland zoo lioness gave birth to 3 cubs on Sunday. I recall Athena wasn't keen on captivity but I'd like to think her spirit and grace lives on. -
Blue, the video had me and DH all teared up. Thanks.
-
Just to change the subject (although, Blue, that video had me tearing up too):
From PoliticusUSA:
Sens. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz’s defund Obamacare rally today turned out to be a giant bust, as the only people most interested in stopping Obamacare are old people who are already on Medicare.
Pat Robertson’s CBN Network touted the anticipated huge crowd size, “The start date for enrolling in the Affordable Care Act is Oct. 1. As the nation gets closer to that date, activists who want to defund Obamacare are putting more pressure on legislators. On Tuesday, they’re bringing thousands of protestors to Washington, D.C., for an event called Exempt America.”
This was a shot of the crowd that they got:

-
C for C ------------in a line from my old school days, My heart bleeds purple panther piss for the rally participants. Even wonder if a couple may have started to wonder why thier "crowd" was a great deal thinner than I imagine they thought it would be.
I teared up over the soldier as well. He represents so much that is good about America.....just hope we are able to maintain those good things.
Jackie
Spell checker has been busy the last few days.....obviously spell checking for someone else. My apologies.
-
Thanks for the understanding and support ladies. They have gone on their way now and there was no political discussion today. The best part last night was when she slapped her leg, jumped up and yelled "Oh my God, you're a democrat!" I explained that I was 'democratic' but as a Canadian I was neither Republican nor Democrat. My opinions were not politically based. They were based on my interpretation of the things that I had read and seen. She didn't much like that. Yes, bless her heart.
I like to think of Athena as one of those cubs.
-
Video made me proud - more good than bad, and the soldier esp.
-
Why can't people give Obama credit for anything?
-
I still can't believe Athena is gone.

-
I am praying that the douchebags on the Right fail completely with their plans to defund "Obamacare." My sister's poker buddy is fundraising for his cancer treatment. He's 28. His parents maxed out their credit cards for his surgery. They held poker tournaments to raise money to pay down those cards. Now, to start chemo, he has to put up $2500 just to start.
Honestly, I'm so sick of hearing stories like this. And it angers me to no end that instead of concentrating on getting well, he is worrying about finances.
The "screw you, I got mine" mentality of the Right just wants to make me punch something.
Sorry - in a bad place right now and just pissy as hell.
-
GGG a little something to cheer you up!

-
GGG, no reason to apologize. You called it like it is!
-
And then there's this one! The LIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-
I'm with you, G3. I want the people who oppose the Affordable Care Act (especially the ones who have pre-existing conditions and oppose it) to be thrown on the "mercy" of the private health insurance market and understand what it is REALLY like for the people who are ill and have nowhere to turn. Let THEM beg their friends and relatives for money and hold bake sales to get the funds for chemo. Anyone who has health insurance and a pre-existing condition (like breast cancer!) and opposes the ACA should be ashamed. The ACA doesn't go far enough, but it is better than what we have now.
(((((GGG))))) -
I take issue with anyone on Medicare thinking they got theirs........it doesn't pay for everything and you really want a secondary insurance backing you up. The exchanges will help with that.
Some friends are retired from IBM which just announced they are shifting retirees on Medicare to the exchanges because, they say, the cost of retirees secondary insurance is expected to continue to rise exponentially and it will cost less (read: more profitable) to shift the baby boomers who built their corporation to the exchanges.
My DH an I wonder if Verizon will do the same to us. We shall see. -
PIP, maybe you can send your sister this. Heheheheheh!
