I had a fun day out with my 85 year old friend. She is as sharp as a 25 year old and has only just retired ! We had a yummy lunch. Since chemo I cant face large amounts of food so had the kiddies meal  ( some kid huh ) just right ! Really enjoyed my sausage, mash, peas and gravy and ate it all up.
Getting compliments on my curly hair every day Smile loving how easy it is to look neat and bubbly every day. At least the BC bitch did me one favour, also nails are still like concrete loving them not peeling and cracking like they did for years.
DH thinking of retiring in a few weeks, think I might emigrate to Australia LOL
    Off to bed flipping knackered.
Tomorrow afternoon Bingo, then GD after school followed by a Movie. Oh the mad social life I have ha ha.

Dakota...not an easy road, but one with a "happier" journey for you, when things are sorted out. Bet you will get good benefits from doing that kickboxing class to destress as needed!

Edi...you sound great! Hubby thinking of retirement soon...PLEASE tell us you will insist on making sure you are allowed some regular "Edi" time to do what you want, independent of meeting his every need!!!!!! It is a huge adjustment for many couples!!!

Liefie...no mention of daughter over the weekend??? Did you enjoy some girl time??

Websister...thought of you today while I was having another massage....yumyum!!! Felt good for the muscles after a few long hikes recently!

Gotta get supper organized....can't mention all, but am thinking of you all. Especially Movie...resting comfortably I hope, after today's surgery.

Movie, YAAY for being done with this! I wish you a speedy and uneventful recovery, sister!

Nihahi, had a very good visit with DD. A little worried, because she has already put on 25 lbs. (That's what I put on in total with each pregnancy.) Eating helps for her nausea which I hope will be over soon, otherwise I don't know where her weight will end up eventually.

Edi, I thought I could rest today. Then around 9.30 this morning DH phoned in a flat spin. His secretary was off for the morning, and he had forgotten to tell me that I was supposed to work. Arrived there in my gym clothes, quite flustered, and chaos reigned for the first hour or so until things settled down. Will have my quiet at-home day tomorrow - hopefully!

Had a chest X-ray and bloodwork this afternoon because of a perpetual sore spot under my left arm (MX side) on the chest wall. X-ray clear and bloodwork all normal. Next step is a bone scan, then MRI. Brings back bad memories.

Movie YAY !!!! Well done Laughing brave and beautiful Warrior sister. Wished they would invent time travel NOW Edi would arrive with tea and cake and look after you.

Liefie, you too big ((( HUG ))) does this worrying never end ? Sure it all is ok but sending Reiki through the airways. My lump still there and sure it is getting bigger Frown now just think oh sod it ! Pain in hip and shoulder but everyone keeps saying how well I look so I must be.
Your DH is priceless, you must be pooped today, spoil yourself. Don't fret about DD's weight gain, my girls put on more than that, but as long as they were happy and baby safe that is all that mattered.
Here press making a big fuss about Kate after Prince George's birth. Dear girl pictured in her pre pregnancy jeans looking like a stick insect. New baby doesn't give you time to eat !!!! lol Kiss

Nihahi, Could do with that massage myself. You must be a mind reader re DH I will put foot down with firm hand re " EDI " days. Want at least two a week to do MY things. If he doesnt like it TOUGH.
My cousins dear wife is in our Cancer hospital very ill at the moment. ( not BC ) He doesnt want anyone to visit.
If I was still volunteering I would have been able to maybe sit with him when he came to the coffee shop where I was.
Told DH just that then walked out of the kitchen. " Go and just sit there he says " won't repeat my reply. Stupid man. At least I had a reason to be there before.

Traii, picking up GD later can't wait to hear all about new teacher. Is DS still loving Kindy ?

Must go Frown somebody is glaring and shaking newspaper. He is off out to have time with his friend ha, one rule for one hey.

It is almost 3 am here, but narcotics always screws up my sleep pattern. Too sore in chest area to let go of them just yet, but hope the pain will subside enough soon, to dump them.....

Hope you won at Bingo Edi, my mum went the other week and won $300, she was just happy she actually called out bingo...lol. I miss it. I use to go for fun. I think my mum told me off more than anything because I use to laugh at one of the callers that called out the numbers. (During the game, but not too loud of course)

DS is still loving kindy. I have enrolled him for 4 year old next year and we got accepted to the one just around the corner from me. Works out they are the days I'm at work and he starts and finishes half hour before and after I start work so it is extra good. I don't have to rely on my mum next year with Zac and kindy...although she is not happy and still said she will pick him up at least one day a week! oh no what will she do with herself..LOL

How was GD's new teacher, does she like her/him?

Movie, How are you feeling ? Hope you got to sleep and chest is giving you less pain.

Nihahi, massage sounds devine. You know I can never sit through a massage because it hurts. I think I might have to give it another try.

My sister in law (brothers wife) asked me to go with her to her 21 week scan to see baby. i can't wait. Baby B ( we are calling he/she) is due January 15th 2014. We are all excited.

Love to all and hope you all have a great Wednesday xx

Movie..sent you a message on the diep thread...((((((((((((((X))))))))))))))))!!!!!! Rest, Heal, smile!!!!!!

Edi...it is SO important for couples in retirement to have time/space/interests individually. Makes the together time more enjoyable. Even financial advisors here tell couples that spending every moment together is NOT healthy. Did you ever find a yoga class? That might help you in so many ways!

websister....hope you rested up on the long weekend...fall is coming, isn't it...you can just feel it in the air!

Benny...how's that infection healing???? Have the neighbours spotted the chickens yet??

Traii....when are you going back to work? Soon isn't it???

Dakota....big hugs, stay strong, look to the future.

Caitlin....with family still? Hope the time spent in Canada is renewing for you.

Carla....think of you lots....so glad you've got a great hubby.

Maria....You are getting there...moving through that chemo girl..such a wonderful spirit you have. Mountain hugs going south, straight to you!

Liefie....dang it. Stop with the lump pain....do you think it's diep related??? Maybe you tweaked something deep when you fell into the daisies, or started back at exercising??? Anymore bear sightings?

Morwenna....hope you're enjoying England...need to hear stories when you return..

ok....I know I'm forgetting some.....need more coffee, and will check back. Love to you all.

Just finished skyping with Edi, and met GD too - what a beautiful little girl, and the light of her granny's life! Thanks for 'phoning' me Edi. It was lovely to talk to you as always, and so good to have the old Edi back. Poor Kate - I can just imagine the media spotlight that is on her to lose the baby weight. Ridiculous, but I'm sure the couple know by now to just ignore the stupidity.

Nihahi, no more bearsightings here - YAY! Guess the dog must have scared the mama bear away. Edi met our bearfighter on Skype this morning. My hairdresser told me last Thursday how a certain bear breaks down the fence between her and her neighbours every year. He enters through her wrought-iron front gate, breaking it off its hinges, and literally goes through the fence instead of over it to get to her neighbour's fruit trees - lazy bear! They can be extremely destructive. I'm better today re: sore spot. Waiting to get a date for the bone scan, hopefully within the next week or so. Maybe it is nerves regenerating after the surgery? I cannot recall hurting myself there. DH says he's not worried. My doc said the same yesterday after he had examined it. There's no lump or bump, just the soreness over that area.

Movie, thanks for the hug! How are you feeling this morning? More importantly, how does it look? Still bandaged I suppose, so we will wait for the big reveal, eh? You behave - no digging outside, okay?

Traii, good that you and DS' schedules work out so well. Enjoy the baby scan with you SIL - so exciting! On Saturday I'm going to a fancy baby shower at a resort half an hour away. Apparently we will all be sitting around in our swimsuits in a hot mineral pool enjoying wine and tapas. Sounds lovely, but not looking forward to exposing my lily white thighs that resemble rising dough . . . and some of those young mothers are really sexy. Oh well, I've had my glory days, and will be a grandma soon after all. Maybe I should bust out the spray tan? LOLOLOL. Still have to make a baby blanket for the shower.

Love to all of you here. Even if you're not posting, I'm thinking of you, and hoping you are all doing very well.

So much to catch up on!

Movie - glad surgery went well for you, rest up and heal well

Dakota - sending hugs and strength your way

Traii - I did smile when I read your post about getting DH ready for kindy - know what you meant but it sounds like there might be a few DH's around this thread that might be 'ready for kindy' ;)

Edi - enjoy those massages - you deserve them! So glad you and Liefie were able to Skype earlier today. Enjoyed the earlier pictures

Liefie - that baby shower does sound a little intimidating but you are not in a competition, and the strength, grace and dignity that you portray every day are qualities that are much more valuable and enduring than a fake tan could ever be, you need no enhancements to be beautiful.

So glad the visit with DD and SIL went well

Nihahi - beautiful day here, almost set record temperature! Oh, how I need to make an appointment for that massage. Beautiful pictures

Caitlin - belated happy birthday to you, looks like Canada is treating you well

Today was our 31st anniversary - last year I spent the day having chemo and then counteracting the side effects. Nice to go out this evening for a special dinner :)

I am really having a time with fatigue, I am supposed to be increasing my hours at work as per the insurance company but can't seem to do it. Even having days off and the long weekend don't seem to be helping in restoring my energy. It is frustrating for me - so glad I have an understanding manager and can work from home some of the time.

I am trying to keep up here but not always posting

    Love u all <3

Websister, so sorry to hear that you are still so exhausted. Must be so hard to go to work when you are this tired all the time. The only thing that will help that is time. So after Oct. 3 you can look forward to getting back your strength and energy. It will be a slow and gradual process to get rid of that bone-weariness and muscle fatique, but it will come once you finish chemo, and get the chemicals out of your system. You are so brave and courageous, and I admire you. BIG HUGS, my friend!

websister...chemo just has the ability to truly suck the energy out of your bones....I'm so sorry you are struggling with the rtw issue....but it will likely take even more time, even after you finish your herceptin to start to rebound. Try not to bottom out your energy reserves...it just takes longer if you do. Small steps....this will one day be a thing of the past. Do you think there is anything you could do, nutrition wise to help?

    Hi girls Laughing X

Websister, sending energy vibes across the pond for you. DH and Kindy, wow what an amazing concept lol.
We were out a few weeks ago and one of our hotels had a notice outside saying " The only creche for husbands " leave him here we will feed him and give him a drink while you shop.
We laughed but I laughed loudest.
Glad you had a lovely anniversary and that this year had happier memories.
My energy levels are improving almost three months to the day after all treatments finished. Our bodies have been battered, poisoned and burnt like it says in my cartoon earlier.BC can't hurt our spirit and yours has always shone the brightest. We ALL love you.

Traii, lovely that Kindy fitting in with work. Feel for your Mum though, I live for my day with my little Fairy.
Her new teacher is one gorgeous Dude !! young and handsome and kind to the little ones. All the Mum's were swooning ( some Nanas too ) She said Mummy will see him at parents night, he is almost as handsome as my Daddy.
Didn't win at Bingo, had a false call Frown my dibber had leaked through onto page underneath, felt so silly.Must get a new one.
When you back at work  are the " Girls " all ok now.?

Nihahi, This morning I said to DH when you retire I would like to go back to dancing, ( we were latin champs in our younger days ) think he will I said I need excercise and he does too.
Going to put foot down re MY days agree with you.
Did you know that in Japan the highest suicide rate is amongst women with recently retired husbands ? My dear Mum had a breakdown when my Dad retired so enough said.

Movie, hope you felling better each day.

    Maria, you too.

Benny, how are the chicks ? Has Paddy visited. On her holiday my little Fairy was camping in a field with chickens running free. ED said she worked out that when one was missing it was laying. She would sit patiently by the hen house until it came out, lift up the flap and there was her breakfast. !! How is gorgeous Diamond, I have sourced a lovely riding school nearby so now going to ring re lessons. Smile

Carla, hope you are fretting less, we are all in this together. Fretting gives you wrinkles !!

    Caitlin, happy hols.

DH mowing grass so Edi needs to look busy, laundry spilling out of hamper Yell think that is most urgent.

ALL of you have a lovely day/night X

    Good day all,

Man has this week been jam packed. Mon. cards with family, Tues. Melissa Ethridge concert, Weds. My DH headlined at one of our comedy clubs here and tonight is the Denver Bronco football opener. Feeling a little exhausted but so much fun. Makes  me realize how lucky I am to have so much friends and family.

My girlfriends DD has been diagnosed with Acute leukemia, she is in her mid 20"s with 3 young children. She is in the hospital on 24 hour chemo. I went yesterday to visit her and give her some encouragement. So sad her poor body is full of big bruises and she is so scared. I can only hope I helped her feel a bit better.

Edi, I love the pic you posted for Dakota. Yea for dancing hope you get to do it. Dancing is one of my favorite things to do.

Movie I hope you are feeling better real soon and get a good report from your PS

Dakota, stay strong it gets easier just have to give it time.

Websister happy anniversary 31 years thats awesome. Our 4 year is next thursday, I have treatment that day (boo) so I think we are going to try and do something this weekend.

    Hi everyone,

I had a lumpectomy on Friday. The good news was clear lymph nodes. The bad news is the margins are not clear. I go to see the surgeon this Friday. Not looking forward to more surgery and more waiting. I lost it at my primary care doctor's office when she said things seem to be going quickly for me. It has been two months of mental torture. So dr says she can give me meds for anxiety...don't want more meds just answers and a plan of action.

    Scouser47,

No I didn't try the bras yet but hope to stop and get one after my appointment today.

Liefie, thanks for the feel better words. I was scheduled for a lumpectomy and thought they would check for clear margins up to two times while I was still in the operating room. I was totally surprised to find out that I was closed up and had to wait 7 days to find out if the margins were clear. They are not clear so I meet with the surgeon today to discuss what to do now. It is currently 4 in the morning and I can't sleep because I'm thinking just go for the mastectomy and get done with it.

Thinking of Dakota , Jackie and Trail. How are you doing?

Nihahi, beautiful pictures. I live in Michigan but am an Arizona snowbird and I do miss the mountains. Hope I get to see them this year. I may be stuck here in the snow for the first time in many years if we don't get my treatment show on the road.

Carlads, I am changing oncologist also. The first one said his printer was not working when I asked for a copy of my stereotactic biopsy. So I started to write down what I could see on his computer screen and he asked me what I was doing. I told him writing down the information and he said I didn't need to be doing that. RED FLAG warnings going off in my head!

Maria,  Your week sounded full on but fun.  I'm sure you have been of great help to your girlfriends DD. Hope you get to relax a little on the weekend. Wink

Carlads, I am excited if you are excited in seeing your new onc on Tuesday.Smile

Edi, you make me laugh, false call at Bingo because of your Dibber. Yep, def time for a new one, Don't want all the ladies to get upset with you again. Mum and I did some retail therapy before picking up DS from kindy this arvo. Got a mini straightener because my GHD is too big for my hair....I love my new mini....I can straighten my hair now and get rid of those chemo curls at the front. still leave the back curly but whispy curls, more like a kick to it at the back. ahh, felt so good putting the straightener in my hair again. My new 'girls' are good. Love going bra shopping now. Can buy nice pretty coloured padded bras ( just to give it a little more of a 'bigger' look Wink)

Jo, great news with clear nodes. Sorry that you didn't get the clear margins. Are they scheduling surgery again ?  Hope you got to sleep again. Nothing like getting up in the middle of the night and staying up. I'm an insomniac I think since being diagnosed. I get 5 hours sleep and I'm fine now..and thats IF I get it , depending if my son doesn't wake up during the night!\

Movie, hope you are healing well. Did you ask your doctor if you can cough?? I use to hate coughing after my BMX. It hurt like crazy but I still coughed ... you gotta do what you gotta do right ?! LOL

Nihahi, Websister and Liefie, hope you are all resting.

Dakota, hope you doing good girl :)

Enjoy your day all. To all that i've missed, thinking of you. x

Jo....take the anxiety meds. It's not for the rest of your life, and this is one of the hardest parts of the "bc thing". I was surprised to hear they didn't ensure clear margins during your lumpectomy, sure hope that's not the new normal!

Edi...imho...the time to "put the foot down" about "your share of the relationship pie" was yesterday, but, failing that, today is a good start. I know I sound harsh, but.....you are important to us, and I keep thinking about all the good you could be doing as a volunteer, all the people you could be helping, and the personal satisfaction it seemed to bring to you.

Maria...I love Melissa Etheridge's music! Don't care much for her "philosophy" re:why people get breast cancer, but every has their opinion.

websister....it's been a tough, tough summer here to feel energetic. Weeks of rain, then the devastation of the floods, thunderstorms that wouldn't quit, then high heat and lots of humidity. Hope the typical fall weather of sunshine, crisp morning air and alberta blue skies helps you feel a bit better. (Sadly, today isn't a good example of blue skies and clear air....).

Question for you Calgary ladies...the neighbour I've been driving to her chemo appts., now is getting a port put in next Friday. She's a bit hazy on the details...do you know how long a procedure it usually is, where it's done (Tom Baker or day surgery in Foothills???, what I can expect her to be feeling like afterwards? She is an extremely thin lady, and her veins have pretty much said "no more".  Any info is appreciated.

    Benny....what's up buttercup???

Hi to Dakota, liefie, movie, carla, caitlin......EVERYBODY!!!!!

J06202, so sorry to hear about the margins not being clear, and being in this 'in limbo' phase where you are debating mastectomy or not. A good friend of mine went through the exact same thing in November last year with DCIS. After two surgeries she still did not have clear margins, so decided to have a mastectomy. She had it done with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction, and woke up with a new breast. Only difference was that it was now her tummy fat inside the breast skin pocket, and she had lost her nipple, which had been replaced a few months later. She looks amazing, and is doing pretty well.

Your nodes are clear which is wonderful news, and you will most probably not be getting rads, so this may be the ideal way to go. You can have the whole thing done in one surgery. Nihahi and I went through DIEP flap surgery a few months ago, so you can ask us any questions you may have. We are both thrilled with our new 'breast' and our flat tummies - a real bonus after the whole ca ordeal. Best wishes on your difficult decision!

A beautiful sunny day here after a week of cooler weather and rain. I have a bag of pears sitting on my kitchen counter given to me by a friend - so much fruit on the trees this year - and have been debating what to do with it. Decision: peel, cut up and freeze. That is the lazy way, I guess, but I just don't feel like canning or making pies today. LOL. Much nicer to be outside watering the garden!

A very good Friday to you all!
