Hi, Tammy!! How are you doing! I have never done a spin class! It looks like a great workout!!! Yes , we are thinking alot alike!! Let' s keep in touch!! Hope you are doing well!!
We spent the day watching our grandson play baseball in a tournament !!! We watch Lily and play with her so mom and dad can watch the game too!! Lily is starting to walk, so I think we are getting good exercise!! Walking, running and lifting!!!! He,he!!
Off now to see Sister Act at the Pantages Theater in LA! I still follow WW plan , but just can not get to the meetings! I am saving $43 a month! The meetings were good and a great inspiration to weigh in weekly, but Iweigh in almost every day now!!! I think I can stay on the plan without going to the meetings ! I bought many of the books and tools!! I know what to do, so Lord help me stay on track!! Of course you ladies are so encouraging and supportive too!!! Hugs, Kathy -
Hi everyone or anyone popping in.....I've been very busy having fun this summer, not doing great in the weight loss category. I've just finished my last vacation for this summer, so now I have to get busy loosing as much as I can before the wedding. I have like 45 days! My dress came in & I still love it. It has to be altered, I'm getting fitted in a few weeks. It has to be taken in, hopefully more than it does right now. He-he...
I also have good news to share. I got the results for my chest CT scan today, all is good!!! They want to repeat it in 1 year & if no changes I won't need yearly scans anymore!
Things have been so quite on this thread, I hope it 's because everyone is having so much fun this summer....
Hugs & prayers to all -
Dear Tenaj!! It is always so good to hear from you!!! Praise The Lord!!! I am so glad your scan was good!!! Please just enjoy your wonderful daughter's wedding and eat like a queen!!! You deserve it!!! You will look beautiful!!!
We are in Palm Desert for a few days, and it is hot, hot, hot!!! We are walking and swimming!! Hope it keeps the weight off and I can lose as well. I am not as hungry in the heat!!! Swimming helps my LE, too!!!!!
Let's keep this thread alive!!!!! Hi to everyone!!!! -
I've been busy some and lazy some, but still reading. It's been quite around here. Things here are summery - was at a conference for a few days and will be vacationing for a bit soon. Health wise things are good although one doc wants me back in 4 weeks just to double check something that he says is most likely not a problem, but just in case. I've got my final surgery on Monday - minor - I'm finally getting a nipple on the foob!
It's been too hot for exercise here, and too lazy, I suppose. I have gotten some stuff done around the house at least though.
Hi to everyone!
-
Hello CookieMonster! So nice to hear from you. I've been lazy myself. We have been in a heat wave for almost 2 weeks.....don't have much energy. Good luck on your surgery next week. I had mine done almost 6 months ago & am glad I did it. Hard to believe it was 6 months ago! Boy the time just flies.....
Kindergarten, stay cool & have fun :-) -
Hi, CookieMonster!!! So good to see you!!!!You deserve the rest and relaxation!!! Hey, hope every thing checks out fine with your onc!!! Please keep us posted!!! Good luck with your surgery on Monday!!!!
-
Hello everyone, I've been a little pre-occupied of late but now I'm back!
CookieMonster, great to hear that your final surgery has come around but I'm sorry to hear that you have to wait for that double check. As much as you know it's probably fine it does sit at the back of your mind.
Tenaj, good to hear you still love the dress:-)
Kathy, you're right, hot weather is good to curb the appetite, I hope you're having fun at Palm Desert....
I'm off on vacation tomorrow to Italy and Spain and I can't wait.....I need it after the last few weeks!
As you know, I was having tests, a bone scan that needed further investigation, so I had an MRI which was fine in the original area but then found a lump near my spleen. So, then an ultrasound....and while I was waiting for the result my position at work was made redundant! Good news is that my result was fine, just two small cysts, I got a severance payout and I really didn't enjoy working for my new boss.....So, off to enjoy the holiday and then I look for work when I'm back.
One good thing in the last week is that since I finished work I've lost 2lbs....probably as I'm not stress eating now...
Best wishes to everyone, I'm off to pack! -
Hi Tammy, sorry to hear about the job.....but one door closes & another one opens. Enjoy your vacation & life! That's great news on your scans...sorry it took so long & so many steps to get answers. You can enjoy your holiday with a much lighter head now. Congrats on the weight loss too! Keep us posted when you get back. Have a safe trip!!
-
Dear Tammy! I wish you a trip filled with many blessings, joy, adventure and lots of laughter!! You deserve it!!! You have had alot on your plate!! Great news about the lump being just cysts, and don' worry about job hunting now!!! Enjoy your vacation!!! Something wonderful will be awaiting you when you get back!! Tenaj is right, when one door closes, another one opens!!! Please check in whenever you can!!!!
-
Thinking about you Tammy...hope your feeling well :-)
-
Tenaj and Kathy, thanks for your well wishes....I'm resting my feet after walking around London today, we're off to Torino in Italy tomorrow....
How is everyone going? -
Hi, Tammy!!! Rest those feet, and then start again in Italy!!! Enjoy!!!!!
-
Tammy enjoy your holiday! Let us know how the food is!! My daugther has opted for a small intimate wedding so she can go on a long Italy Honeymoon.....she's so excited to try their food, despite everything else there is ti see & do!

Hi Ladies,
I have been MIA for a while. Today I finally got some exercise. My DH and I took a walk in the mountains with our pups, and now I am totally exhausted. I had very little sleep last night, but went for a walk anyway. I will recover as soon as I get a little nap.
I hope all of you are doing well. It's a beautiful day here with not a cloud in the sky and temps in the 70s. -
I had bilat mastectomy with DEIP reconstruction on 7/10/13. Abnormal sterobiopsy in April combined with strong family history and high risk per geneticist.
Up until about a month before surgery, I was running 4-7 miles about 3-4 times a week and doing Body Pump twice a week.
I still have one drain in my abdomen that I hope will come out this week. I can walk about 3-4 blocks; quick grocery shops with my husband; do dusting, straigtening of the house. It all wears me out. I don't hurt, but my chest is pulled tight and spasms, as does my abdomen.
I also have a lap band in that I had loosened prior to surgery to avoid issues. I'm getting fluid added back slowly.
I feel like a slug sitting around and need to figure out how to start to exercise and what to do. Any suggestions for sites to check out or how to start?
-
Hi, Rocket!! Your weather sounds beautiful, and walking your pups is great exercise!!!
Welcome, Shevy!! You definitely are not a slug! You are recovering from major surgery!! I would definitely talk with your doctor about exercise programs!! You sound like you are in great shape!!! I would think walking would be a great start, but again talk with your doctor!!! So glad that you have joined us!!! Blessings, Kathy -
Shevy, welcome! I agree with Kathy that if the Dr gives the OK then start with walking and build from there.... I've always been a walker so I continued after surgery but I'm now running about 2 miles in a session and doing a weekly BodyPump with light weights so it may take a while but you will get back into things. Unfortunately, I didn't find much in the way of sites to help. I think it is probably a matter of listening to your body and doing what feels right. As a runner you should also join the running discussion board, they are inspirational! I'm not sure of the name but I'll look it up and post.
Rocket, good to hear you are getting back into exercise :-)
Tenaj, I'll post an update on the food...
Kathy, hope you are well.....
Ciao! -
Shevy, the running discussion board is 2013 Running Thread...
-
Welcome Shevy, starting out slowly & pacing yourself with walking & exercising is the most beneficial for you. Remember if you do too much or too soon this will only set yourself back! I learned the hard way. Better to go slowly & be consistent.
Tammy...thinking about you enjoying your holiday! My daughter is going next May to Italy for her honeymoon...any must see's let me know!
Have a great day all!
-
Hi, Tammy!! You are having a great adventure, enjoy every minute!!! I bought new walking shoes yesterday, what a difference!! Keep us posted on your travels!!!!, and the great food, he,he,he!!!!!
Hi, Tenaj! Countdown to the wedding! I bet you are so excited!!!
Good morning,Rocket and Shevy!!!!
We are off on a bike ride today!!!! -
Enjoy your bike ride kindergarten, it is such a good exercise with not much impact on the joints. I just finished a 8 mile ride with DH before the rain comes in today. We could use some rain, it has been soooo hot!
Have a wonderful day everyone! Don't forget to drink lots of water! I've got to get better in that department, I've slipped a bit in that area. -
Hi, wonderful ladies!! Tammy, how is your trip going??? We are currently on a road trip up to North Dakota to watch our grandson play in the Babe Ruth World Series! So exciting !! We are doing some sight seeing as well! Just visited Mt. Rushmore! Breathtaking !!!!!! On the way home we will visit Yellowstone!!! We have been walking and hiking!!! But we also have been eating way too much!! At every hotel we stay at, we visit the gym! Hope that helps!! Once we are in ND, we will also be watching our granddaughter, lots of running after her !!!!! Hope you are all doing well !!!! Hugs and Blessings!!! Hi to Tenaj, Rocket, Tammy and CookieMonster!!!!
-
HI all,
I'm hanging on, not losing, not gaining, but need exercise and better diet, just not motivated right now. Hopefully getting back on a normal schedule will help with that. I go back to work on Monday.
I hope you're all well.
-
Hi All,
I have been struggling with my weight. I haven't gained, but also haven't lost either. I have started walking again. I've been having some unrelenting lower back pain, and will have a bone scan at the end of September. They always stress me out. I'm going to try doing some ab exercises to see if it will help my back. I've also been walking some. It's difficult to be motivated to exercise if you're in pain. I am eating quite healthy, so hopefully the weight will come down. I know just how you feel CookieMonster.
Love all you Ladies and hope you are doing well. -
Ok.. The weight issue.
I have always been overweight, since having my kids 25 years ago...
Once.. about 8 years ago i was able to loose 60lbs ...went from 220lbs to 160lbs...smallest i had been in years!
theres no trick to loosing weight.......... eat less + move more = loose weight
so i eventualy put all that weight back on... and was on the road to loosing it all, once again, when i was diagnosed with bc last august.
I was about 225 last year... fast forward to the end of my treatments and i was 246... the largest ive ever been.
hip pain..depression.. etc, all side effects of being over weight....
but i was... and kinda still am... so angry at what i did to myself.
Fat produces estrogen... f*uck if i knew me being fat, could give me bc... maybe i would have done better.. god i hope i would have.
Everytime i see a fat roll.. or cellulite...all i can think of is how much i want to starve any cancer cells that were missed, in my treatments....
the anxiety is a b*tch .. but... it sure is motivating too
i did Weight watchers for 3 months and have lost 16lbs! at 230 now...
My breast clinic offers bc patients a year subcription to Curves. Ive done their program before and love it..
So... 16 down... 84 to go!
hmm would be great if that was beers or shots huh? lol
-
Hi, Celineflower!! So good to see you here!! Wow,you are definitely on the right track!! Forget the past, you are doing so great!!! I am doing WW, too. I can't make the meetings like I used to, but I love the program!! I have lost 25 lbs, but I think I have gained some back while on vacation!! So glad you have joined us!!
Hi, Rocket!! So sorry about your back pain, walking should help!! You eat so well, the weight will come off!! Hang in there!!
Hi, CookeMonster!! So good to see you!! Yes, definitely,a normal routine will help!! Enjoy your first week back at school! -
