Wow LW thats amazing an inch and a half mines still about 1/2 inch
-
It's still so slow...like watching paint dry. I'm so impatient. I still had some left. I never shaved my head and it didnt all fall out, about 99% did but I held onto a few sporadic hairs so I had a bit of a head start.
-
LW - how did the hair color turn out?
-
Ash is very DRAB and gold can turn a bit orange on some people. Its not the natural you have to look for but the neutral color. Like a 9N(neutral) not a 9ash Or 9warm or 9G( gold) If you like Gold then go for it!! You may want to go with a little ash for a platinum blond if your hair is dark as you are trying to counter the gold. If your hair is grey DONT use the ash as it wont cover the grey as well. Ash gets rid of Gold but can be Drab. If your hair is ash and drab/grey Gold gets rid of that. So if you are ALL grey its ok to use something a little warm. My hair is coming in dark with just a tiny bit of grey so I would go Neutral for myself if I just wanted to cover up the grey. If I was 100% grey yes I would go with a warm brown. Neutral is just in the middle of it all so it has equal parts of all the colors in it. Its "safe" if you are not sure what to use. Hard to understand Im sure. I have just under a half inch of hair but it is growing fast and very thick so you cant see scalp anymore. I said screw it and am not going with a wig or hat. I am DONE with them even though I look like I just buzzed my head! I just dont care anymore!!!
-
Tangles, I'm with you. Also have less than 1/2 inch of hair (although mine is mostly grey and not so thick), but last week just couldn't stand the wig anymore and have been going "topless" to work and in public.
-
I'm ready to go naked as well. I have a good buzz cut going on but it is light (blonde with grey) and so it looks like I'm still patchy bald. I don't care anymore. I'm over the scarf and being sickly. Mostly I'm over the cancer. Time to move on.
-
Good for all you girls going "topless"! Mine is about 1/2" and pretty thick but I think I'll wait just a bit more to go without anything. I took my cap off when I got home today and noticed the top is mashed down and the back is all kinds of sticking up. It's nice to have enough hair to actually get messed up.
Now the eyes are a whole other matter. I have now twice attempted to achieve the look of eyelashes with liquid eyeliner as demonstrated by Eyeliner All I can seem to do is achieve the look of Ozzy Osbourne with liquid eyeliner. I've just never worn much makeup and never used liquid eyeliner before. Some people are great with makeup and then there's me! Oh well, I'll keep practicing when I find the time. Hope you all are doing well. Much nicer to be talking about hair growth and makeup versus yucky chemo SEs!
-
DizzyMom - I can relate on the hair and on the make-up! I can't go topless yet - its about 1/2 inch and gets smushed under the wig but I have cowlicks here and there that show scalp and look like bald spots! I just can't go to work without my wig yet..
-
It sounds so good to be reading about hair length and not all the other SE's we have gone through. My hair is also growing back - yeah!!! It is only about a 1/4 inch long, but it is coming in. It looks like it is coming in grey and some of it is also very dark, almost black. My regular hair color is dark red, so this should be real interesting. I am so ready to ditch these caps.
I also welcomed back this weekend my first chin whiskers. I was actually glad to see them, but immediately started the plucking routine.
-
I was so lazy this weekend I didn't get a chance to color but have the box and am ready when the mood strikes. I can't believe how much grey I have, I'm grateful to have hair coming in but it makes me feel old!
It's funny, every morning I try to apply mascara but there's nothing there, just some really short hairs. I think it makes me look tired without mascara or lashes to put it on! -
So proud of everyone going topless!
I go around the house /yard, and even to the pool without my wig but not out to stores, church, etc.
But I had two friends today encourage me to go for it! I'll see what my boys say tomorrow. -
Hello Ladies give the Rimmel London waterproof GEL eyeliner a try. I think I got it at walmart. It works GREAT! stays on all day unlike the regular liquid stuff that runs if your eye even waters a tiny bit. You do have to use makeup remover to get it off, but it does come off Ok at the end of the day. It just last all day and looks great. Its cheap too!!!
-
Dizzy the Ozzy comment is too funny, maybe thats what I should do, go gothic. I'm down to a baseball hat and sometimes walk out the door and forget it so sometimes topless to go to the store.
-
I joined a Livestrong program at the YMCA and today was my first day. It's a **Free** 12 week exercise program for cancer survivors. I think I'm really going to like it. One of the women who also had BC and finished chemo same time I did had really impressive re-growth. If you didn't know, you would just think she had a cute short hair cut. So eager to get to that myself!
I have a CT scan tomorrow and bone scan next week to compare to pre-treatment. There were some questionable spots on my sternum the first go 'round. I hope they are still there as that means it isn't mets.
-
good luck on your scans Dizzymom!! praying for ya!
-
Dizzy does **free mean something? Hope all is well with your scans
-
Oh, no. Free is good! Thanks for the well wishes ;-)
-
Dizzy mom: hope your CT scan was clean and your bone scan goes well too.
-
Thanks, LW0919. Bone scan has not been scheduled yet for some reason. Results will go to MO and I see her on the 30th so I'll know then. No anxiety or anything............right!
Well I made my unintentional topless debut yesterday. Took the kids to the water park and my hat went flying off on the first water slide. Never found it. Just piled suncreen on the head and went on with it. Hope you all have a great weekend!
-
I want to thank all of you ladies for being there during my treatments. I haven't posted much, but have read the posts and been SO encouraged and helped by them. I will start radiation on Tuesday and am hoping the radiation page will be just as helpful as this one has been. I will continue to stalk this one I am sure.
I have a blog and wrote one on chemo treatments. Here is the link if anyone is interested. And again, THANK YOU ALL!
-
So sorry you have to wait again dizzymom. It really is on the verge of being considered mental torture! Oh no on the topless move! You're so brave - I probably would have hid in the lockeroom hoping someone would leave behind a hat.
I colored my hair today. I used a semi permanent color and went lighter as our resident professional hair stylist Tangles suggested. Thanks Tangles. It turned out pretty decent! It's now about the color it was before I lost it all. When it started growing back it was almost black with a lot of gray. Now I'm sporting 1 1/2" - 1 3/4" iced Prailine hair by Loreal. Applying the color took maybe all of 2 minutes from root to tip! So far none of it has fallen out so I think it was a complete success.
So now...how long does your have to be for extensions? Tangles any advice on those? -
LW so glad your color turned out!! I have a friend who does hair replacement for men. I ran into her last night and asked her if she could help me out. (I was topless) she said sorry its no where near long enough! Boo Hoo!! I also ran into an old friend who I have not seen in a year. He said "Mary what did you do to your hair" REALLY?? Like I would shave my head like this for real?? Most people I run into say OMG what is going on with you? Not why did you cut your hair like that!! Oh well. Im sure he felt real stupid for saying that. LW hair extensions can really wreck your hair so careful with that. Im staying away from them. My sister has them and it has really broken her hair off.
-
People can say some really stupid things sometimes! I've heard a few too. Sometimes it hurts my feelings and other times it just pisses me off!
I really want long hair again and fast. That stinks about the extensions...I would almost try it anyway because I'm so impatient. -
I REALLY want to go topless but I look like I have the mange.
-
Not sure if people are just being "nice" but I have had MANY people tell me I wear it well. Its a HELL of a way to find out you have a cute shaped head!!!! I just dont give a crap anymore! I will be happy when I get some baby bangs!! Well off to Rads. Half way done!!!!
-
Changed my profile pic. Im not computor savy so didnt know how to crop my daughter out of it but oh well. Topless is my new look!
-
Tangles funny you mention the shape of your head. I too have gotten that compliment. Just what a girl wants to hear "you have a lovely shaped head" LOL
-
Oh my goodness Tangles - you look so cute! I wish I had the nerve you do..
-
Great look Tangles! I know people at work are grasping at straws, trying to reassure me about the lack of hair now that I'm going topless. The latest is telling me that I look very European, and I'm thinking "European, my ass!". Anyway, it helps to build confidence re: rockin' the bald when my coworkers are all being so nice.
-
my hair is growing weird in the back - anyone else? from the front it looks ok - maybe 3/4 inch and mostly growing straight back but it definetly has a mind of its on because I can't brush it any particular way -but the back is just goofy fuzzy hair some spots 1 inch, some 1/2 inch...I also have such a low hair line its on my neck..glad its coming back but don't know how I'll ever go wigless - this is almost as bad as first losing it..
