Here's what cheezed me off today

ROHANNA, I can't begin to tell you how worried I was. I new you were going to have a reversal, but not when. Girl So sorry you went through all the shit, literally. HappyHappy you are back. Let all the best of everything rain on you HUGSHUGSHUGS L&H&P' sassy
-
Welcome back Rohanna from what sounds like hell and beyond! It almost seems like after we've been thorough BC, we can handle just about anything. Although sounds like you had a lot of shit to deal with ;-). We're glad you're back. This has been quite the week of cheeze for me. I'm not sure you really want to be caught up, but what the heck.
I had a new window put in my house and it took them 4 tries before it was done right. That meant 4 times I had to take the time off for them to do their thing. Just when the window finally was taken care of, my washing machine broke. It was a $200 part and for once I really didn't want to fix it myself so I called a company to do it. It took them over 2 weeks and 2 wrong parts before that was done. I've got a family of 4 so you can only imagine the laundry situation we were going through. So here I am thinking I can take a family vacation and since this is 2 years since the beginning of the BC crap, I was ready for some fun. Heck... I even have a nice head of hair now :-). But, nooooooooooooooooo... my house gets a slab leak! I had one last year and almost had a nervous breakdown. This isn't as bad since I've been there, done that, but WTF!!! Now I have to get someone out to install a value so I can shut off the water to my house and not my garden in case the work isn't finished by my vacation next week. Oh well, hope I sleep a bit better tonight. Water to my house has been off for two days and we are in the middle of a heat wave.
Off to take a sponge bath!
-
Man! It's so good to be back with you guys! You have no idea how much I've missed you!
Rocky, sometimes don't you just want to run outside and scream every obscene word you've ever heard?! OK, this is going to seem weird but I'm passing along some advice I was given a couple of weeks ago and it worked. A friend of mine who REALLY is Native American told me to burn some sage in my house to rid it of bad vibes. I said, "Sure, yeah." I don't live anywhere near sagebrush. She told me to drop some sage from my spice drawer into my potpourri burner. What the heck! I did it and the next day I started healing. Now I'm up and about! I'm going to start burning a little sage every week. Crazy? Maybe. But not as weird as some of the s*&t they tell us will cure cancer!
I've gotten to the point that I don't tell anyone what's going on with me and that way they don't get a chance to cheeze me off.
I'm sending hugs to you all and wishing you good health. LOVE YOU!
-
I have sage in my garden. I'm doing' it!
-
RO, I'll try it too.
Sending Pm :0
-
I've been told to burn sage after my mother-in-law visits to clear the bad vibes out :-). I've actually seen the stuff at our local hippie bookstore. Since I'm now too old to smoke grass, maybe I should burn it once in awhile (sage that is).
-
I've got an awesome idea. Let's get a lot of sage and burn our mothers-in-law at the stake!!! Damn, I love solutions! Oh, and I burned some sage last night and got a good report from the surgeon today! I'm loving this stuff! Surgeon says I'm healing. DUH! He says in 16 weeks, I should be feeling like my old self. Well, I haven't seen my old self in 3 years, so that should be interesting. I wanted to tell the doofus that after BC there isn't an "old self" but, he wouldn't get it. Oh well, at least the Battling Banti Bunch is here to rant to. I love you guys!
-
When you meet your old self, tell her I said hi and that I like the new self. Hey, maybe all our "selves" can get together for a virtual sage burning party! I truly am going to pick up a batch, patch or wad of sage to help with all my house/plumbing troubles. I've never burned any, but perhaps it's time :-).
-
I'm doing sage burning today also. I only have an ex-mil so any of you that has a current one to cleanse' I will share. Now, do I put some fresh leaves in a candle warmer thingy and gently heat them or dry toast them in a pan on the stove. Oh! I could make brown butter sage sauce for dinner! Or is it best to put the sage in something flameproof and light 'er up?
Phyllis -
To smudge, the sage should be dried. Put some in/on a flame proof container and walk it around your house.

While getting my hair cut today, the hairdresser says" I'd love to buy some of the BC support merchandise, but I hate pink." So I said, "Why don't you just take the money and send it to cancer research?" She was quiet for a minute and then said she didn't know who to send it to. I told her to google "cancer research" and pick one. Damn, Lady, do I have to do everything for you? OK, bring me the envelope, money and stamp and I'll do it for you because you don't intend to do it anyway. She even asked me what I thought I had done to cause the cancer. AAAARRRGGH! I just said, "Are you serious?" Then she said she didn't have to worry because there was no BC in her family. I said, " Do yourself a favor and google BC when you get home. You are seriously uninformed." She actually got pissy! Thank goodness my haircut was done. I'm now looking for a new hairdresser. One with a brain! CCHHHHHHHEEEEEEEZ!!!!!! Time for a glass of vino! And I'm thinking about burning some sage outside the hair salon!!!!!:)
-
Geez! Tell her to come here look around
-
Smom, she's so stupid, I don't even think she knows what Google is. She probably couldn't find this website if someone did it for her. Stupid is as stupid does.
-
RO, So, what did we do to cause our cancer? I'm surprised you were able to stay in the chair. But there are so many idiots out there that think this way. Have to admit that I do get cheesed at those that say " I did everything right, didn't drink, didn't smoke, exercised, ate right and I still got cancer". The implication being that we DID do something wrong if we didn't do all the "right things". Haven't voiced that till now, so likely will piss someone off. Banti's Rule! sassy
-
I know way more women who did everything "wrong" and didn't get cancer than ones who did every thing right and didn't get it. Of course I know very few who "did it all right".
-
Sas - you nailed it. I was thinking the same thing. I have an Xfriend who said she wasnt going to get IT either because there was no BC in her family. I told her she needs a reality check because I was told 70% of BC patients do not have a genetic connection. There was no telling her that...she didnt believe it. Told her dont care if she believed it or not it was true. You can choose to believe or not makes no difference to me but dont act like a flipping expert. They dont want to believe it therefore, it isnt true. Not wishing this beast on anyone but I too get tired of the what we did to get the bad "draw." My mother had BC in the late 80s and died a few years ago but not from BC. My sister also has BC; we may be carrying the proverbial gene but regardless we all play the hand we are dealt. I also get offended by people who act like we are lepers and if they get too close they will get IT. The vast majority of people however, are very compassionate but those few that arent are royal pains...diane
-
Except for drinking I did everything wrong. Still do! It still managed to find me
-
Maybe since I got IT, I can find more things to do wrong
any suggestions ? My DH(deceased) were dx'd 3 months apart. One person actually said "Where do you Live?"
Diane the genetic card in my the paternal side is staggering. 12/21 women had/ have cancer. The guys have gotten off fairly easy 4/28(--30 as 2 died young). Yet my words go unheed for surveillance of multiple systems. OH well. Yeah the leper bit gets old. Sometimes I've felt like tagging idiots and saying "Oops, now you got IT" That's awful, but it's a nice release.
-
Well, I guess you could get a Harley, brave the idiots on 4 and come see me? I gave up my mc license cause they hit school busses and say they didn't see it. That's what I used to do, and got hit twice, last one involved 2 cars and me.
Or go to Tally and voice displeasure with the guv? That wouldn't be good for the BP. -
I tried the sage...had to open windows and turn on fans. I didn't know that my chemo-tummy hates the smell of sage. It was hilarious...me gagging and trying to get the windows open. Should have videoed it!
-
I was just sitting here thinking about the people who know so little or have so much misinformation about BC. They keep screaming about "Awareness" but, no one seems aware. I don't think the awareness campaign is working. It almost makes me want to wear one of those huge advertising buttons, one that says, "Ask me for the real 411 about breast cancer." I'm about to the point that I don't care if I'm a leper, these people need to stop living in Lalaland. I almost want to contact women's groups and tell them that I hate to be Debbie Downer, but damn it wake up! You don't have to do anything to "get" BC. It just gets you!! OOOPS! Just fell off my soap box!
Sas, let's hit some malls and play TAG, YOU'RE IT! Then we'll get huge fake boobs (the kind that are built into bras the size of Texas), wear lots of makeup and 9" heels, swill lots of booze, get extensions and be the Real Housewives of BC! How's that for suggestions of things we can do wrong? Bwaakkk!
PH, you cracked me up. I just drop a pinch of sage into my potpourri burner then I add lots of cloves and orange peels. I don't even smell the sage. If I did what you did, my neighbors would just think I'm cooking again!
Spookie, I had to give up my beloved bike too. I almost lost a leg because some kids thought it would be funny to remove the manhole cover and see what hit it in the dark. That was my last accident. I sure do miss the wind in my hair and the bugs in my teeth!
On a more serious note, does anyone know somone who needs some free colostomy supplies? I have a ton left after my reversal surgery and I'd like to give them to someone who maybe needs help paying for supplies.
Take care, Battling Bantis. LOVE TO ALL!
-
For Pinktober I'm going to have made and wear a t shirt that says
IM AWARE. FIND THE CURE
I had bmx. I haven't decided on colors yet. Any suggestions? -
SPMOM, not pink?
Ro check with Aussie Sheila pretty sure she's got a colostomy
-
HaHa funny Sas. I've beat cancer, I still wanna live!!!!
No pink. I like pink, I wear it. Just not then. -
rohanna, after reading about your haircut, I had to have a shot of Jack myself. What a dipshit! I'd love to tell all those cuddled in their "no one in my family has it" safety blankets... when you least expect it.. expect it :-). Of course who am I to pass on my deep knowledge to those who feel protected.
Unfortunately, a lot of those who are misinformed are on these boards too. I read some of the threads here and there, but when I hear these ladies writing "My doctors say I have to (fill in the blank) or I wanted to do this, but my doctor said I have to do that." It kills me to read and I sometimes will just exit out because I can't champion every cause. Let them live in Lalaland. I figure at least I'm in Higherthanmighty land so I'm safe for now.
I hope you find someone to donate your supplies to. It would be great to help someone out. Of course if you don't you could keep a bag or two handy and if you meet up with another dip like your hairdresser, you could hand them a bag and tell them they might need it since they are full of shit!
Nips up again!
-
Ro, you did post how you use the sage. Thank you for that. Now I just need to figure out how to make myself follow instructions! It's a lifelong problem for me, sorry to say. Haha, my poor mother put up with a LOT from me because I just can't do it.
Rocky, I love your Higherthanmighty land! -
Hi Ladies,
I was just reading the boards and thought I could jump in if that is ok. I too have friends that state 'I have no family history of BC, I don't need to check'. I find it so ignorant. BC can happen to anyone, anytime! It also drives me crazy when people expect me to be happy all the time while I am going through chemo! I mean would they be happy having poison injected into their body every three weeks! Anyway I am just having one of those days and I was happy to find this board so I could vent too! -

Welcome shoppygirl. This is a good place to vent and sometimes find a chuckle or two. Another good place is The Dumbest Thing someone has Said About/To You. It seems to get a bit more traffic than this one.
-
Rocky, I'd have a dip, no a nip if I had one. Yes, highthanmighty land. Good one. Also good one on the bag use, very good one.
Ro you could decorate them up, i.e babe ruth bar as in Caddy Shack. Put a sign on them with the appropriate reminder. "You don't know shit about Breast cancer, this is a reminder of what I thought of your opinion." OH this could be some fun. Any other thoughts about phrases?
PDG---recipes, your good at recipes. Should C&P your ginger tea here Honest, not fooling.
Spookie, same thing, I love pink and coral---they make me glow. I just don't wear it in OCT. "I've beat cancer, I still want to live" . Better than the ones I had made up---- "Cancer is not a Marketing Opportunity". That one worked good when I stopped at the local insurance office that had a sign "TaTa's insurance sold here" I said read the shirt. The sign was down <2 hours.
"What color do you Associate with Dead, Breast cancer Kills". I was in a dark place when I had that one made up. That's dark. Can't find the third one, I think it was so dark I didn't wear it.
