It's me, Steph!

I LOVE the name you gave the gave the fb group!
I have seven of you on there now. I need to figure out who I'm missing... -
OK started a post and then it got lost.
So.........would love to FB with all of you too if you will have me. You can find me: Martha Martel (McReynolds), Delmont, PA. Rhody is my dog's name (hence the avatar pic), MMM are my initials...RhodyMMM is my AOL IM name and that's what I used for this forum (I love my dog...she is such a love and comfort, 13-year-old Lab, not too much longer for this world
I would love to respond to each of you individually but there are so many....so I will make general statements tonight to contribute. I was at the MO office yesterday, and there was a young woman who said that she was gaining weight from the chemo, the doctor told her to expect that. So don't be surprised...but don't know which drugs she is receiving.
I went to the MO yesterday, she could not give me any answers about treatment yet, have to have bone scan, CT of chest/abd/pelvis to check for metastasis...and tissue samples being sent to CA for oncotype screening. As Tom Petty would say, the waiting is the hardest part......
I see where you all (y'all?) are from and I have many connections......grew up in MA, spent some college time in NH, lived near St. Louis when first married, then back to RI. Then on to central Michigan, now in western PA....and tomorrow heading to RI for a much needed vacation.....hubby has been awesome and needs some RandR (and beach/bike time!). My daughter lives in Charlotte, NC so I visit there from time to time, and she is getting married Labor Day weekend in Charleston SC so we will be visiting there. Given the opportunity would love to meet up with any of you!
Your posts make me laugh/cry/cheer/scream./swear!....you girls are awesome! When I got my diagnosis a friend gave me a can koozie with a pink ribbon and the logo "Fight Like a Girl." My husband told me "wear pink and be a crusader." That's the message I am getting from each of you too. So if any of you want to add me to your FB friends I would be honored!
-
Hi Rhody, you should totally jon our group, Ill send you a friend invite. Hope you enjoy your vaca and I agree that fighting like a girl is the way to go. :-)
-

good evening ladies. so sorry for not being active the past couple days. those two pre checo days' have been really busy and I just am so exhausted. Tonight even more so. I have done chemo #1. I have a carinbride page that I update if anyone wants to follow
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/mdavis/journal you just have to sign up with an email/password so we know your valid
As of now.. I'm just gonna copy and paste what I wrote:
So yesterday afternoon we finish with my oncology appt around noon, and go to my friendly neighborhood Safeway as that's where I fill all my prescriptions. I walk in with about 3 pages, or what it feels like is a zillion drugs to open my own pharmacy. I ask her that I need to know what the drugs are going to cost. She looks at the sheets and starts to panic. She only has about 15 minutes to order the drugs for todays dispensing. And yes. I need them tomorrow. So off she went with her speedy fingers put to work. Yay she's Awesome. She gets the orders in and I find out that Ryan's benefits are wickedly fantastic. Let's just say I got 1175 airmiles on those alone. Hmm honey, where we going after all this is done??
Fast forward to 8 pm when picking up the arsenal of drugs. Go home, make myself a spreadsheet to tell me what time, drug and when. Fast forward to 730 this morning. We drop off Alicia at her friend Maxine, thanks guys. Then go to TBCC or Tom Baker Cancer Center. Ended up arriving half hour early. We decided that some food was in order, and with eggs Benny on the menu.. mmmm. So we checked in about 850 am. Didn't get called in until after 945. Here is where that deep down braveness had to surface, as well as my meditation skills and, of course my hubby Ryan. I think the worst was what not to expect. The chemo nurses were wonderful. They explained every step of the way. I think the worst was getting the bandages off the port, as it was still tender.
So now it's time for the "Red Devil" How can something that needs to have the nurse cover up, double glove up and wear glasses be good for me?? Oh wait.. it is isn't good for me.. but GREAT and kills the CANCER! So.. that went in well. No issues. Flush next, then the next part of my treatment. This one was an hour long. Good think I had some wonderful friends who were able to talk to me while I was in treatment. I was by a lovely window over looking the valley. (pictures to follow)
So all went well (except for that migraine). I have wonderful friends and family taking care of me. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did sleep most of the day and will just take it one day at a time and one foot in front of the other, to take up one morning to be FREE! I WILL BEAT CANCER!I am sorry i am unable to respond to each of you seperately. Just know that YOU ARE ALL in my daily thoughts and prayers!
love n light 'gnight!
-

Hey, Sorry I am on so late. I have been deviling eggs since 9am. Big cookout today!
Martha-I added you to group. You should be able to see it down the right side of your facebook screen. You want miss the name! lol!
Melissa-I hate you have a migrane! I've never had one, but have several friends it knocks down..tears and all. Big hugs to you! Get someone to rub your head, thats what my BF does. By the way, I love your account of your chemo day. It made me smile and I love the way you put things! You have great attitude! You are so going to get through this.
-
Lisa did you get her blocked yet? Gowith-Do you know how to tell Lisa how to fix it where her MIL can't see her friend us?
-
I sent Lisa the info via private message. Hopefully she was able to do it. If not lisa, send me another message and we can see what we can do.
-
Hey, you could create a whole facebook page just for us!Lol..
Well I have deviled eggs and shucked 24 ears of corn. Not sure my surgeon would approve, although he did say to do what I felt I could do. My hub offered but he is not as anal about those little silkies as I am. lol Now, if the rain will just hold out. It feels good like I'm returning to the norm.
Back to lifeeee...Back to realityyyy...thats a song..escapes me who sings it. EnVogue? I always sing it when we come back from Disney.
-
-
Wow. Janet you are alll about the music! I am impressed! Musics great! Im going to make that my ringtone when I go back to work Monday..I'll ignore the fact chemo is coming up. lol..
-
Do you use myxer.com? You just need the song. You upload it to their site, and personalize it to what part of the song you want your ringtone to be. LOVE that app.
-
I love that song, Janet. I haven't heard it in a good while.
-
Morning guys!
I slept late due to being up till 2am. Honestly feel hung over! I had a diet coke and a lemonade. Sad..might as well have drank! lol..
So I start back to work tomorrow! I have been super excited..Ive not worked since 4/17. I'm a little worried about getting tired though..even not counting what I've been through I've been sitting (or laying on the couch..lol) for 3 months. We have what we call a "quiet" room there..2 on each floor as a matter of fact. Its just a dim room with candle light like lighting and a long couch with 2 easy chairs..its to "get away" if you've had bad caller or whatever. I figure I'll take my breaks in there. My sup said I won't be on phones first day..will have 3 months worth of emails to go through..probably a good many voice mails and online trainings etc..I seriously love that company! ...and MISS THE MONEY.
I hope all of you are well today. Are we out of here for good and on facebook? I thought I'd post this today here, as is wordy..as I generally am. lol.
-
I wish you well going back to work Cyndie!
