The beer sounds like fun ... I think you have more then enough. I have the jello shooters and chocolate jujubes ... Will see what we find in Chicago ... Ghiradelli chocolates I am thinking.
-
Mmmmmmmm.......chocolate........:)
-
I bought chocolate/maple fudge yesterday and strawberry daiquiri and sangria mix lol
-
Ladies, ladies, have mercy.....am I the only one with some control here!!!!.....😇😎😋
-
Lol, we plan on fixing that ;-)
-
Luanne, was hoping you would say that....💃💃💃
-
Scottie I heard on another forum you were making special brownies. LOL
-
OMG.....you've been spying on me...lol....they are the "healthy" ones. You know, stuffed with asparagus....ha ha ha
PS are you counting down yet? -
Not spying, just lurking.
Counting down everyday! -
I've felt crappy these past two days, but it can't lessen my excitement for Iowa! Be there in 7 days!! Hope they're ready for us...hold on!!
-
Sheila....oh please get better fast. I'd hate for you to be feeling crappy when you are on a holiday....❤
-
After a few days with all my "boys" I'm am so ready for this trip. My shit for brains has pissed me off beyond doubt right now and I'm ready to leave NOW!!
-
Btw shit for brains = DH
-
Luanne, I laughed ... I have an ex that my brother-in-law still calls ... SFB ... lol
-
Doing laundry and starting to PACK 🚘
-
Joanne I'm jealous!!! SFB went home left me on "vacay" with a 20 yr old who went to his room at 8:30 and a 9 yr old who is still awake. So I get to go home tomorrow, do laundry, clean and chemical pool, grocery shop, put away laundry, unpack, make a few dinners for while I'm away, repack, cut grass....
Honestly, sometimes I wonder if married/family life is worth it?!
I've checkered out the routes and maps to get to Scottie then you and I'm ready lol. I'll text Scottie (or call) when I'm leaving my place and we will do the same when we leave Toronto.
I can't do animations but picture me jumping up and down in complete joy that this trip is FINALLY almost here!!!!! -
I know ... Checking the routes too ... Do you have GPS or do you want mine?
-
I've got GPS. All good that way but I was wondering about coolers? Don't really need a big one but it would be good to have one for keeping water or pop cold for the trip. I only have the big ones or lunch sized.
-
I can do that ... I have a really good cooler bag that will do ... I can get some water ... What kind of pop?
-
Hi there
I emailed some details but will post here! I am still getting some more details and will update when I get them! but here is what I know as of now!
So here is the route on the 18th – I can try and map it out on google as well and send you. Aimee you probably get the route and towns more than anyone else being from around the area and can help everyone else?
From Grinnell, IA starting point we head south 2 block to 6th Avenue (aka HWY 6).
Follow HWY 6 north of Brooklyn & Victor, through Ladora, stop at halfway point at a Casey's on the corner of HWY 6 and Western Avenue in Marengo.
Continue down HWY 6 through South Amana, Homestead, and Tiffin. Cross under I-380 then I-80. Past the Coral Ridge Mall.
Turn south on Hawkins Drive, pick up the pack of people at Carver-Hawkeye for the final 1/2 mile run in to Kinnick.
I will start running that day at approximately 11;45. It depends on the weather and heat, as some of our runners that day might do a relay and not do the whole marathon in one run. I will have my friend or someone in the bus text one of you and i have a couple of numbers so you can get some updates.
I apologize the day is kind of crazy, how it will all work out. There is a GPS tracker on the
website to see where the runner are along the route that day but I have not figure how to utilize that exactly yet.
I do know that we are running our last leg together into the stadium and that end of evening event is still being plan by the organizers. I know people want to come run with me so if you map 52 miles out of our starting point that is where I should be starting around 11:45 but with this type of race it will be ever changing unfortunately. I should get more details even a couple days before.
Can you all wear Hot Pink flowers so I can pick ya out:) HA! I hope that we all recognize each other from photos!
Just have those drinks ready! And I have just discovered Bud Light Lime Ritas! YUM! Defeats the burning of calories but I am on vacation right!
-
So if my calculations are right, which most likely not, you will be starting somewhere around Marengo, Iowa?
-
I know where Hwy 6 is and it is a pretty straight shot for most of it. Unless she wanders off into a corn field somewhere we will find you Michelle.
On another topic, I had a nice chat with Mary earlier today and she was wondering if anyone is interested in consolidating rooms since we have lost a couple people. Mary has a 1 Bdr with 2 Queens and a sofa sleeper which she is getting for points so it is costing nothing. She suggested if people are interested, depending on how much room is in the other suite, we could get rid of one of the rooms and then just split the cost of the two. It would mean a couple people would end up on a sofa sleeper but could save some money. Just throwing it out there to see what anyone thinks.
Only 6 or 7 more days depending on who you are.

-
How many of us are there now? I think that there are 8 total. If that is the case then we have a 1/2 bed.
Also what time will Michelle be there .... If she leaves at 11:45? We need to leave Chicago in time.
Michelle I love the Bud light lime Rita's .. They are really good. We can't get them n Canada. Had them when I was in Florida. -
I think you're right, Joanne. 8 of us with two rooms makes sense to me.
Heading to bed so I can get a couple good sleeps to be rested for next week lol -
Ladies - I have a room to and the first night my friend and sister staying with me but we can use that too to shower and get ready:) just ask when you check in to be by my room. I also will park my car there Thursday and if anyone needs to drive it just let me know:) just don't wreck it:) oh hell I have insurance:)
-
Well, according to my husband
I snore. You guys might not want me in your room after the first night, ha! He did tell me to bring plenty of bottled water for us. I guess very hot and muggy is the forecast. (What else? It's July in the Midwest!) -
I've been told I snore too lol. I'm bringing a case of water, I looked at the long range and holy hell!!!! In the 30's that's 90's for the U.S. girls lol. Plus humidity. I guess I won't need to pack a sweater or long pants eh?
-
Michelle, I'm sure everyone one would love to have your friend join us for the whole stay!!! I hope they can!!
-
Michelle do they have a van that follows behind the runners? If we wanted to follow along in a vehicle would we be able to?
Luanne, def. no sweaters, unless you have the a/c cranked up too high in your room! I pretty much like it cold these days. We'll see how well I handle humid and 90+. And I'm not even running a marathon! -
Well, ladies....this is going to be a treat!!!!! Jo confessed she snores and so do I....😱
Maybe we should put ear plugs on our list....ha ha ha
