Rads this morning, followed by my 2 year ultrasound checkup on my thyroid.  Of course I cannot find the paperwork the doctor gave me to go in for the ultrasound.  /sigh/  I'm an airhead.

It'll be fine.  I called the endocrinologist's office and she said I didn't need paperwork for the ultrasound, but needed it for my bloodwork.  i have to go to the outpatient center across the way from the hospital for it.  This office is the ONLY one in the hospital that makes me register every time I go.  Seriously, I'm at the hospital every stinking day, but for bloodwork, i have to register each time.  I'm always a bitch to them for it.

I go through less paperwork to have surgery.

Janet-LOL..Every time I have had surgery, in precert they asked me the whole..have you had arthritus, bronchitus,,etc etc and etc..the past two times..they still did that..I even fill out a PIECE OF PAPER..where you check stuff you have..and do you know that when I  had my MX and this last seroma crap..within 5 min...literally..of me being pushed into the room (the last time..they pushed me in and she was in there waiting like a vulture) and they started asking the same questions..After Mx my mom had to answer most as I was nodding off from anesthesia and morphine..this last time..I was in grips of violent nausea and had not 30 min before stopped breathing from that crap they gave me. This last time was when she was waiting and they told Mom to wait outside..my husband marched in there and told that nurse ..No her mother is coming in and Im sure you already have the answers to those questions, in his best stern manly voice. (course he does work there..lol). So..when they called after I got home to see if I had a lovely stay..I complained about that.  Its crazy how they make everthing so difficult.  I hope all your tests come back good..and rads is easy for you.

Hey, you should make a button for THEM...LOL

Heather- I'm so sorry.  I totally get how you feel as trying to get myself looking like "normal" has been a challenge..what has kept me in the house. Can you wear false eyelashes?  I'd hate to see if I tried!  I've always worn makeup and all, but never been overly into getting "made up". Maybe you could try some light brown eyeliner.  I hope the day goes well for you.

Just got off phone from Metlife ref to my disability. Nurse sent in 6 pages of surgeon notes from last surgeon visit to update..of course, it hasn't been processed yet.  She sent on the 2nd of July.  What happens when they are slow is my check is short in hours (already halved pretty much).  This makes me crabby.

ck: my neighbor was out for a while and he had a lot of problems getting his disability checks to come on time or they weren't the right amount. He said it was a real hassle dealing with them.

Hi everyone, it's hard to believe that the Fourth of July has already come and gone...what happened to the summer? So this morning they put the drain back in, the doctor took out another 500 cc. Very discouraging. We are going on vacation to the beach next week, I had hoped that the drains would be gone. But I did get some good news, I saw the RO and he tells me that I don't need radiation. That made me happy; I had been concerned because my daughter is getting married on 9/1 in South Carolina and I was worried that it would interfere with her plans. Next stop is the MO on Thursday to find out the rest of the treatment plan.

GoWithTheFlow, if you are going to be in CT, you should try the Rhode Island beaches. South County is right over the CT border and the beaches are great! That's where we are going next week.....my favorite place in the world, I can't wait!

Rhody WHOOO HOOOO, for no Radiation!!!

sorry I havnt been posting lately although I have taken a few minutes each day to read posts. The last week or so has been busy with a lot of miscellaneous stuff that I had been putting off and couldnt anymore as much as I wanted to Sealed.  In addition with my youngest son home from college for the summer and his friends coming to visit/eat (our house has always been the place they congregate) been out of the house and enjoying the outdoors.

Hope everyone had a wonderful time over the 4th.

Still sleeping in the recliner though, seems to be the only place I can get a good nights sleep. Normally Im a side/stomach sleeper and as of right now its now possible.

Also had my follow up appt with BS and he has referred me for physical therapy for range of motion before I go back to work which originally scheduled for 7/15 (6wks Post op) but now rescheduled to 7/29 (8 weeks). To be honest Im glad he did as my job is physically demanding lifting/repetitive motion, etc. Besides its been years since Ive had time off and in the summer to boot!!! Now if they would only allow me to go swimming.

Thursday will be my first fill and am a little nervous about that, but not much I can do, want to get the ball rolling and on my way to normality if there is such a thing after all this.

    Katie

My "itty bitty no pity for the titty" party was absolutely wonderful. There were 50 ladies wearing lots of pink and we had the best time. Before the silly activites began, I read a message about the importance of friendships and how we need to take the time to think about our friends, stop and live in the moment and if at all celebrate that moment. I went on to say how I've recognized my need for friendship more than ever these past several months and that I am filling that need with time and memories together. About halfway through I broke down when I mentioned all the specific things everyone had done for me. There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd.

I will put together a collection of photos and see if I can figure out how to post them on this site.

Glad to read that so many of you are continuing to do well and I continue to pray for all of you.

    Hellooooo, Everyone!

A good friend of mine came over yesterday and showed me how to put a new screen in my slider door that leads from the kitchen to the deck. I've had to keep the door closed since the Spring bc of such a large hole in the screen. It felt so good to fix something!

Melissa, my girls had a much easier time seeing me go bald than my 19 year old son. He would try to put on a brave face but his eyes said it all. He felt sad bc he didn't want to see me suffer emotional sadness about losing something that is such a big part of a woman's image and confidence. I sat him down and told him I was fine with being bald bc it was a short term condition that's part of the treatment that us saving my life. I told him that it wasn't making me too sad and that I didn't want him to think I was feeling ashamed or embarrassed. That seemed to help him feel better. I go head "commando" (bald) around the house so all if my kids are used to it as are their friends. In fact, I left the house today to go to work for a while and was driving for about 5 minutes before I realized I forgot yo "cover up!" Turned the car around......

CKMoss, I think a lot of oncologists do a CAT or PET scan, a bone scan and an echocardiogram to get base line data before chemo and to see if the cancer has spread. I had these done before I could start chemo.

You are all in my prayers. We will get each other through this. :)

Cyndie, I have not had any of the scans you are talking about, but expect I'll have a bone scan before we start the next step. Your avatar still looks weird to me. I miss seeing your little cocker spaniel, so when you have time maybe you can change it *grin*

Ann, I hope you can find a way to post pics. We all want to see them!

Annie, fixing screens isn't so hard, really, is it? And having that breeze.... Heaven on a hot day!

Katie, still in a recliner? That sucks! Glad you've been keeping busy, though. That's got to help you sleep! I think the PT will help a lot. Especially given the kind of work you do! And two more weeks off if a wonderful thing!

Heather, I know it must be very hard. Try to remember that you are beautiful, with or without hair, eyebrows, or eye lashes!

Another busy day. I worked 5 hours today. Which was 2 hours too much. I'm going to try to stay away until Thursday. And go to bed now. I'll check in with you all tomorrow.

Hey all, just got back from my very first BC support group meeting that my BS has. Honestly, I had to make myself go..I was like..I got my "peeps" online..dont need to sit around going over the whole thing again..however, it was small group and actually felt very very strange (but good) face to face talking with people that had been through. It was nice.

Rho-I know you hate that drain, but it will help..plus will be out sooner than you know.  They actually bothered me way less 2nd time around.  Partly because it was way better than the other choice (!) and I knew what to expect..PLUS..last but def not least..this time around I had cami with drain holder pockets!  I am very very excited that you do not need radiation! YEAAA!

Ann-How great your party sounds!  I started getting teary reading the general outline of what you said in your post! I totally get what you were saying. Also, would love to see pics!

Katie-Good to hear from you again and I'm glad you have been busy with family and summer things! Helps un-narrow (I know thats not a word) this world we are all in.  Amazing how vast Cancer world is,,but how narrow it brings your personal world!  So any "break out" is great!  I hope the fills go great!

Annie-That's what Im thinking and I put in a call to my oncologist nurse..she hasn't called back yet.  Your son sounds like a very sensitive and great guy!  Especially at that age....teens generally being very narcissistic...you must be soooo proud!

Jerri=Im thinking about you and hope you are ok

Lisa-You ok?  I hope chemo not too awfully bad.  I pray you are sleeping through the "crap".

    Janet-How did all go today?

Rhody, my husband is actually from Rhode Island.  Don't think I'll get that in on this trip.  I'm staying in New Canaan, on the New York border.  Definitely planning at least a night trip to Revere Beach outside of Boston to go to Kellys Roast Beef.  I've been taking my son there the last two years later at night (like 11:00 pm) and he just thinks it's great to sit on the wall at the beach and eat a late night snack.  SO glad you don't have to do rads.

13 rads left for me.  Honeybunny helped me design a button for my RO last night.  I put her face on Yoda and wrote Radiation Therapy Yoda on it.  She laughed.  She said cortisone cream on my itchy areas before using the biafine lotion.  Getting a bit more red, but it's still not really sore other than pains leftover from surgery.

Ann, maybe upload them to a photobucket page?  Might be the easiest thing to do.  Make one just for those pics if you want to maintain some privacy.

Steph, I don't know how are you are working.  You are wonder woman.

Annie, good for you for learning a new skill.  It will be nice to open that door on cooler nights.

Cyndie, glad you enjoyed your meeting today.

Catie, hope you make it into a bed soon.  I have a memory foam topper and that has helped a lot.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you ladies who have made the worst time of my life bearable! I pray for blessings, peace, and healing for everyone!!!!

I actually drove the van today and while Im super stiff, it wasnt bad, another milestone reached :-) We were able to sell an old car of ours today so a little change in the pocket goes a long way to reducing the financial stress. Again, so grateful for you all!

((HUGS)) Heather.   I'm very thankful for you all too!  Having you all to bounce things off of after surgery, cry with me, laugh with me, and know that each and every one of you really truly knows what I'm going through, because we're going through this together.

Good morning ladies!...and i believe about to say goodnight..woke up at 430am and, now, of course..Im back sleepy. I thought my removal of stitches was today, but apparently I have no memory..is tomorrow at 130. So I am back to bed.

Amen to above posts!  My family, nurses and doctors all would like to wish a heartfelt thanks (if they knew subject was up) as it has taken many calls, questions, nagging and whining off them!Smile

Awful thing happened yesterday, the radiologist that did my dye test..his wife and children plus family friends of theirs died in plane crash in Alaska yesterday, while on vacation. Horribly sad..

Trying to decide what shirt to wear today.  I've been wearing those loose v-neck tshirts from walmart daily (and nightly) but today is a special day.  After rads, I'm meeting with a friend who is going to be doing pictures for me.  I was invited by her to be part of a project on women and how we are all beautiful.  I think it will be something to look back on in years to come that will "document" where I am today both physically and emotionally.  I might run to the department store first and find a pretty blue shirt to bring out my eyes since my hair doesn't have a shot in hell of doing anything special.

I will post a link when the entry is done.  Not sure how long it takes.
