Benny.....listen to your sisters. All through this year of tx, and se's, you've understandably had the patience of a pigeon without John Denver music..combined with the mindset of Eeyore....it's just who you are. Hang in there, like everyone says, things get better on their own timetable. Hopefully your doc has some tools to help you get your "head"on the right track.

Liefie...what the h***??? Sorry for the tumble, really glad it wasn't while connected to drains and steristrips!!! Stop that kind of thing! Bet your hubby was freaking out trying to catch you!

Edi....our weather....has a reputation for being insane...never a dull moment around here. We had a relatively nice evening here, a town to the north of us just got pounded by hail!!!!! It's the mountains that decide what the weather gods will do next! Glad to hear you're finally enjoying summer. Your hubby should get a nice spandex outfit to wear on his bike rides, like the Tour de France guys wear Wink. I think everyone over the age of 50, would show some degree of arthritis in the joints....we just wear out over time. Hope his hands don't become "the next big thing" for you to deal with.

Traii......hugs, hugs, hugs......gotten off that bum yet????

Dear Benny, I hope you are not too upset with us telling you to cool your heels, and let your recovery run its course. We care a lot about you. As Edi said, you were the person who got all of us together. Your situation grabbed our attention, and then it morphed into this awesome thread with all these warm, kind, helpful people. With that being said, we all get our down days, me too. It is understandable to feel down when you are physically weak. I am mentally at my most vulnerable then. I do find that the further away I get from my bc ordeal, the more it fades, and the less I think about it. Life goes on, I'm part of it as I am still alive and kicking - hard, as bc found out . . . it messed with the wrong person. LOL!

Nihahi, DH did get a scare when I fell. My first reaction? Who had seen my fall . . .lol. Had a dress on as we were on our way to the party, so it must have been a sight for sore eyes with me sprawling on my back between the white daisies. Did not keep me away from the party though - LOL. My foot is a little swollen with a nice purple hue below the ankle. Did not sprain, just twisted it - phew! Wil have to hold back on the gym a little, but I'm walking okay, not really painful.

    Traii, how are you doing?

DS and DIL on their way back to Calgary. At the moment they are somewhere between Salmon Arm and Revelstoke. Last time I spoke to them in Kamloops, they said it was very hot there. That old Camaro has no air-conditioning. Not much sympathy - growing up air-conditioned cars did not exist, and had many hot car trips. Nothing prevents them from stopping and taking a swim somewhere - lakes and rivers all the way. DH is on the ladder up a tree with the chainsaw after a stern sermon from me about the dangers . . .

Oh no Liefie, I am not upset at all. Just got home from the farm and eating a hot caramel sundae. Ice cream doesn't upset my innerds Innocent

It's just hard for me to feel weak. I loved Nihahi's description! LOL I have always been an 'I can do it' kind of person. Move a waterbed downstairs? By myself? No problem. I can do it with one hand tied behind my back. You know, that kind of thing. I actually feel a bit better today despite a busy day. And........ (drum roll) I rode Diamond for the first time since she threw me on February 24. That was terrifying, I have to admit. Might get some good pictures as my friend Jami had her good Canon.

Liefie, I am so sorry about your ankle. :( A friend on here gave me a fantastic recipe for a cold pack, which might help that ankle. Get a Zip-Loc bag and put a 50/50 combination of hand sanitizer and water in it, seal and freeze. The alcohol in the hand sanitizer won't allow the concoction to freeze solid so it produces this perfect slushie substance. I used it when my arm was black and blue from that stint in the hospital (IV). Works great.

Okay, have to get my muddy jeans and boots off and brush out my wig. Hair is 1.5 inches now but it's all curly and I hate it. BUT, am grateful it's growing. Be back shortly...... must eat more than a Rolo sundae.

Thank you for letting me gripe and grumble. I know I can be a pest but I love you guys <3

Benny....major hugs going out....ditto what Liefie said.

Benny, you look like one sexy cowgirl on that horse! WOOT WOOT!!!

I have a long night ahead of me. Kids phoned from Golden a while ago - still 3 hours from Calgary. They must be so tired by now, because they've been on the road since 6.00 am this morning. The road is very busy, and it  is taking way longer than expected. I wanted them to just sleep over in Golden at the nearest motel, get up early tomorrow, and be in Calgary in time for work, but they want none of that. Sigh. Can just as well stay awake, because I will never sleep until they are home safe. It's okay. I can sleep tomorrow.

looking forward to the pink mounting block, but more importantly.....love the smile on your face...hope it's a recent photo??!!!!!

re: night owl....your point being????? But I am turning in for the night. Hugs to all

oops. liefie...just noticed your post! Likely the reduced lanes going through Rogers Pass and then again at Canmore, all because of the floods. At least they'll be going slowly through the mountain roads at night. FYI....your suggestion of overnighting in Golden would have been mine too.....they're young....common sense is likely being kept in the trunk, with the dirty clothes. Try not to worry

    Hi ladies......

Benny! Love your photo! Glad you had a pleasant ride on Diamond, too. I have a good friend whose hair came back after chemo curly, too. I bet yours is actually lovely, even as short as it is! :)

Liefie, I totally would be doing the same thing.....sitting up waiting for my kids to call and tell me they arrived safely.....you CAN sleep tomorrow, right? :)

Edi, glad you had some sunshine this weekend......sure helps the mood, doesn't it? :)

Nihahi.....am trying to plan a fast trip to Glacier in August......trying to get DD#1 and DD#2 to join DH and I.......I even offered to hike the Highline (terrified of sheer drops)..... They may all fall through......I may go alone......Glacier is like a drug to me.....I need a yearly fix.....I KNOW you understand! :)

Traii.....how's the bum? Hope you are doing well.....thought about you tonight as I had two TimTams with a 4 oz. glass of milk......yum! :)

To all...hope your Monday is a good one.......XO

    Namaste and God bless-Jackie

Dakota....hope daughter feels better...another trip to the doc? Just put on a patient gown and zzzz away in a dimly lit corner, no one will bother you!!!!

Liefie....hope kids got to Calgary okey dokey, and that you're zzzz'g away with Dakota and Traii. Keep icing that ankle!

    Morning girls,

Scottiee, I am sooooo jealous of you girls going to Iowa! Have even been posting on the Iowa thread now and then. Will make it to the next get together. Please give each of those girls, especially Mcook, a hug from me, and enjoy yourself! Woot woot - the Canucks are coming to Iowa!

Traii, YAYYY on being home, the best place in the world to be. Now be good to yourself, rest lots and enjoy those new girls!!!!!

Movie, hiking alone all by yourself in the mountains? You are one brave girl! I hope some of your family members will accompany you - alone does not sound good to me, but I am a cissie that way. We'll all know it's you when we hear on the news about a lone nipple-less Oregon female hiker who had to be rescued out of Glacier Park - LOL. Just joking, just joking! Kids travelling - guess we will always worry, eh?

Carla, I hope you are doing okay?

Dakota, we were up together last night. Hope DD's ear is okay. That is a painful thing to have.

Nihahi, kids came home in Calgary in the wee hours of the morning at three. From Vancouver the trip took them 16 to 17 hours, at least 4 hours longer than usual. The roadworks really held them up, but the slow speed was good, at least for me - lol.  Both had to work at eight, but they are young and energetic, so will be okay. Thanks for keeping me company part of the way. I went to bed later, and after they phoned I went to sleep literally within seconds - lol. Will be taking a nap this afternoon for sure.

Another scorching hot day here. Have to water garden now or everything will be wilting later. A good day to everyone!

Liefie....I'm so sorry you're not coming too!!!!. I think you and I would get along well together as I believe we are the same age, have similar tastes in music...love the Beatles. For my birthday two years ago my older son got me two tickets to see Paul McCartney in concert here in Toronto. I don't know who enjoyed it more DH or me....lol

When the Scottish flag came out (huge) and about one hundred pipers, and he sang Mull

of Kintyre....well, I was finished, sobbing my eyes out....lol. I hope we can make it happen for the next GTG...❤

Liefie....glad kids got back ok.....in reality....pretty typical hours during Stampede time...they're just going with the norm around here this time of year.

All Calgary ladies....I had the most amazing massage experience today. Found a very skilled, wonderful massage therapist who has a massage chair, so if lying on your front is at all an issue, she can accomodate you. She also does the traditional massage table thing. The amazing part is.....she is one of "us"....just finishing her journey of bilateral bmx. Had implant done (immediate recon after bmx) and just last week had nipples done. She is a caring, wonderful lady, who TOTALLY GETS WHAT WE HAVE OR ARE GOING THROUGH. If you want her contact info, just pm me. She is truly a "gift" to us.

I thought we weren't 'allowed' to have massages because they exacerbate (sp?) lymphadema? That was one of the many losses I had included in this whole cancer crapola. I used to love my massages, but the girl I used to go to found out I was a social worker and she spent the whole hour telling me about all her family problems, so I stopped going. Then got the cancer thing. Normally I wouldn't have minded listening to her family problems, but I found I was coming out of the appointment more stressed than when I went in. If I'm misinformed on the massage-lymphadema connection, expect a pm from me for her name!

Hey Benny.....gorgeous sunset tonight, eh! I can't respond to the lympadema/massage thing cause I have no info. I can tell you that I have had many, many massages over the years, since my mx, and other surgeries and never had issues. I do know that a specific kind of massage is actually part of lymphadema treatment. Check with your doc, you're seeing him soon aren't you.....I found this lady was absolutely wonderful, postive, supportive, understanding and on top of that, gives a WONDERFUL massage. We did chat about bc, but there were also times of peaceful silence. If it checks out ok for you, I would LOVE TO CONNECT YOU WITH HER....!!!!!!

Okay, sounds GREAT! A good massage therapist is hard to find (kind of like a man, heehee,  Laughing or a horse). I'm seeing the onco on July 18 so will hopefully get clearance. Thank you Nihahi!

Traii!!!! So good to hear you're home. Dorothy was right, there's no place like home. Especially after being in the hospital, cause there's no place like the hospital either haha! Hope your poor 'lil butt is back to normal by now.

I am going to bed early, right now. I took a Tylenol Nighttime tablet at 2100 and can hardly keep my eyes open. Goodnight everyone <3

    Good morning!

We are back from our quick vacation, very lovely!

Traii - so good to hear surgery went well and that you are home now. Hope all continues to go well for you.

Liefie - glad your family made it back OK, albeit late. Hope they get rested up again quickly. Sounds like a wonderful time with them

Benny - hope the energy begins to return, it does seem to be an up and down thing. I was shopping with DH before our vacation. Between back pain, fatigue and shortness of breath had to call it quits early. Told him he saved lots of money due to that but I will be making up for it later. Loved the pictures of you and Diamond!

Re: massage - at my follow up appt with my RO, she gave me a prescription for massage

Edi - hope the sun I sent your way is sticking around for you, beautiful here.

Dakota - sounds like summer sports are still keeping you busy. Hope DD is feeling better and that you didn't fall asleep on any patients

Nihahi - yahoo! Enjoy your day at the Stampede and all the junk food. I will PM you re: massage therapist, sounds great

We got back in late on Sunday evening also. It was after midnight so just came inside and went to bed. Had my MUGA at 0800 yesterday a.m. Guess I left my veins on vacation. This was the same tech who has always done my MUGA's and bone scans, no trouble before. Yesterday had to be poked four times before she had success.

Went in for my first official 'day' of work after (4hours) and when I got home it was definitely nap time. Feeling more rested up today, need to go get groceries and see my Mom today then MRI tomorrow.

Sending hugs to all and in the pockets of those in treatments or recovering from treatments/surgeries

Scottiee, I'm pretty sure we'll hit it off swimmingly! Listened to Abbey Road the other night, the last Beatles album. . . after all these years I still love their music, and always will. Takes me back to a time in my life when I was a teenager with not a care in the world with two loving parents and my two siblings . . .

Nihahi, enjoy your pig out day at the Stampede! One of these years I wanna attend too - sounds such fun. Don't know how Calgary pulled off the Stampede with those floods two weeks ago, but they have. Wow!

Websister, so glad you had a good time away, and sorry you got poked so many times yesterday. Best wishes on the MRI tomorrow - in your pocket, dear sister!

Benny, hope you had a very good night's sleep.

Saw PT this morning. She broke off my arm. More than once. OUCH, OUCH OUCH! Told me to breathe through the pain - yeah right! Then my new mantra jumped into my mind - if you can survive chemo, you can survive this. Breathed through my gritted teeth, and stuck it out. It is really excruciating when those tight radiated tissues pull on every muscle in my arm and shoulder, and into the DIEP breast. BUT: ROM is a little better already, and she said that I should get back full ROM if we continue like this. Yay! Fortunately I have to endure her only once every two weeks - LOL. The rest of the time I have to do exercises at home.

After PT went and signed up for aquasizes 5 x a week and yoga 2 x a week. Will ride bike in the gym in between, and keep up the walking. Then somehow I have to tame the Tamoxifen hunger monster. Mind over matter, I guess.

Edi, Traii, Alive, Caitlin, everybody else that I'm forgetting. . . how are you all doing?

So good to hear you had a great vacation, Websister. You so deserve it. I hear ya on the up/down fatigue thing. It just pops up out of nowhere sometimes, quite suddenly, and at the most inopportune times.

Liefie, glad the kids got home safe and sound, and hope you caught up on sleep. How is your ankle?

Nihahi, I hope you are having a fabulous time at stampede. Those minidonuts are my fav. Look forward to your review when you get time. Do you do rides? I still love the rides, even at my age, but can never find anyone to go on with me. My mother, who is 71, still does rides but she lives too far away. I wanted to go down today because a friend is riding in the Tennessee Walking horse demo, but I didn't make it. Did you take in any of the shows?

Okay, I don't have very much time right now as I am going to look at a saddle for sale in Langdon. It's cheap and might be okay for our therapeutic riding program. Back later.....

    Morning Ladies!

Traii...hope things are going well at home, and that you are not overdoing things!!!!!

Dakota....has daughter's earache settled down??? I'm a bit surprised you aren't on tamoxifen, which would have taken care of that pesky period.... Sometimes it's just a pain to be female, isn't it!

Benny.....omg, it was hot down at the grounds yesterday, and busy, but we had a great time. Would have been a real scorcher sitting in the stands for the rodeo!!!!! Didn't see the Tennessee Walkers, but did catch some sheep herding (those dogs are amazing) and some heavy horse stuff. Spent alot of time in the Ag Building barns, with miniature horses, just so sweet!!!! I don't do rides anymore....some of them I get dizzy just watching!!!!! Junk food tally was decent, but nowhere near what I used to consume: of course the first stop was for minidonuts (with the cinammon and sugar, of course!), then strawberries dipped in chocolate, footlong hotdog, fries with gravy, bannock, sausage roll and ice cream cone (Weadickville is still there, muddy, but food bargains remain!), beer battered deep fried mushrooms (gotta do at least ONE of the deep fried things!), and all washed down with several of the fresh lemonades and several bottles of water! Junk food done and dusted for the year!!!!! We wore our "come Hell or High Water" shirts with pride. They are selling like hotcakes, down on the grounds....they can't keep them in stock. At last count, the Stampede has sold over 100,000 of the shirts which becomes over 1 million dollars in donation to the flood relief. It was amazing to see how little of the flood damage is evident, but it's there if you are familiar with the grounds, and know what to look for. Sad to see the Saddledome so dark and empty...it's usually such a part of the whole show. The western art exhibit had some incredible art work....just wish it wasn't so expensive, or there certainly would be some gorgeous paintings hanging in our place!!!! The poster for next year is so lovely.....have you seen it? It's a Clydesdale horse, very well done.

Anyway.....time to function, or in my case, pour another cup of coffee. Hope everyone is having a great day. YAHOO!
