I will. Three weeks from today I head to CT to my friends house. She's got twin 6 year olds who adore my 15 year old. They spend a lot of time playing mario on the wii.
Then we all head to my mom's summer house. It's in the woods in NH near the lake. The kids can swim, play outside, we plan to take them to the arcade, and to the go karts and laser tag center. They've never been there before and my parents are looking forward to having them up too. My friend and I love to cook, so we plan to be the chefs that week.
When we leave there, we are going to the casino in CT for two nights with the kids. They have an arcade and a a nice pool, and the pizza and burger restaurants there are good. Of course my friend and I plan to sneak out to the casino and play a bit, but my son is awesome with the kids, and if he needs a break, there is a childcare play center for the little ones.
Then I go back to CT for a few days to just hang out before heading back to NH with just my son. We have about 60 family members up that weekend for a family bbq. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Then back to CT for a few days before coming home.
Not so much restful but will be glad for all the changes in scenery after sitting around the house here for months.

Go: that sounds like so much fun! I know you can't wait. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
-
if any of ya'll are on facebook, send me a PM and I'll add you.
-
AnnBR, I can't wait until tomorrow night or Monday to hear all about the party! We're gonna want details!
Chinneymae, you are do right - nothing is more peaceful than listening to the ocean.
GoWithTheFlow, glad you got some rest. Our bodies need extra right now.
So last night my left arm decided to cop a "restless arm" attitude from about 1AM to 3 AM. At one point I started punching my bed while cursing out said arm. Then i started pleading with it to please stop. yes, I was actually trying to reason with a body part. The things we do when we are sleep deprived. This all happening even after an Adivan.
Hopefully, tonight will be different. -
Janet, your trip sounds wonderful. I love having something to look forward to.
Annie, I hope you have a much better night! -
I'm looking forward to it. And my friend and I are working on talking my husband into coming up and going to the casino with us. We had so much fun with him playing slots at night. Her husband doesnt play slots but the three of us would hang out together and play.

Good Morning All!
Janet-That sounds like the best ever fun! Celebration to almost over half a year of hell is past you now!..not much longer on rads right? I've only been able to get a day here and there..where I didn't think of my situation at all...and when you look back on the day..thats when you realize how stressed you are from trying to hold everything in and thinking about this non stop. Cause it feels sooooo good! Janet, Here's a little ditty for you..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW1dbiD_zDk Everybodys dancing and they are dancing for ..you!
Cyndy-Are ya'll in Myrtle Beach or Garden City or somewhere else? Wherever, I know you are loving it..Nothing..NOTHING..better than sitting out watching the waves, drinking cup of coffee snuggled in house coat as sun comes up in the morning...Soothes the Soul.
Aww Annie--You sound like me..! Thats how I normally respond to middle of the night crisis! I told my surgeon..I've never been much with curse words..just every now and then..toe stomping moments..etc..This has been HUGE TOE STOMPING!..I have said more cuss words in the past 2 months then my whole life!..One day, honest to goodness, I had this horrible STRONG urge to just stand in my den and say two or three sentences with nothing but curse words in it..frustration and anger is all it is. Did you sleep well last night? I sincerely hope so! You may need muscle relaxers. Soma is one I take..its light and with pm..generally good night sleep.
-
Ck: we are in a beachhouse at Ocean Lakes in Surfside Beach. We have been coming here for the last 24 years. Our children and now grandchildren just love it!! I'm trying my best to get my son to buy a place down here.
-
WOOHOOO Cyndie. I think that will need to be my ringtone that week I leave!
And i do beleive I already have that in my itunes account from a few summers ago. It was on my "pool party" playlist. Twice a summer we used to rent the clubs pool after hours for a pool party with just about 30 of our closest friends. It was a total blast because we got to break all the rules like going down the slide headfirst (which was more fun than going down feet first). My son's swim coach would put a lounge chair in the bottom of the deep end for the life guards to find the next morning (most of them were his swimmers). one year we took a pic of him 12 feet down sitting in a chair using my waterproof camera.
I'm still jealous thinking of Cyndie at the beach. I'm hoping that my skin holds up well enough that I feel like going to the ocean while I'm in new england, but I"m not sure what will happen. Maybe we can do the beach in CT at the end of my trip.
Hope you slept better last night Annie.
-
Cyndy, that sounds heavenly! Enjoy.
-
Cyndy-You are in my heaven!! I'm so happy you have the chance to be there..no better place, in my mind!
Janet-No need to be jealous...we are all going to be sooo jealous of you! It tires me just thinking of all you are going to be doing! Your parties sound so much fun!! I may just have to crash one one day.
Ann-Im really excited about the get away and meeting all of you guys! I think May will be a great time..1 year anniversary..and hopefully we will all be done or just about done by then. Plus have time for financials to settle down.
Melanie, does Amelia Ave and that area have blue water? The water at the beaches in SC is grey..would be nice to see some blue....and by the way, are you ok? Haven't heard from you in a bit.
Well Im off to take a nap. My husband is working 12 hours today (his day off) to help with bills, etc..and Im so lazy and sleepy (didnt sleep long enough)..that I should feel guilty. But too tired to...lol.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes! I had my drains taken out last Monday--one was ready to come out, the other had lost suction and wasn't working anymore, even though it wasn't ready to come out Have had seromas evacuated twice; probably looking at having a new drain put in tomorrow or Tuesday. As much as I am frustrated, i am actually glad to have the drain put back in.....I'm just tired of this! I love reading all of your posts....I feel like I can relate to all of you! I'm off to meet the radiation and medical oncologists this week, waiting to find out what other treatment I will need. My surgeon doesn't think I will need rads, I know I will need hormone therapy but not sure about chemo (the PA says they may do systemic chemo just cuz I'm over 50 to be done with it). I hope not; my daughter is getting married Labor Day weekend and I would really like to have hair......although I know that there are much more important things!
ckmoss, where in South Carolina are you? My brother-in-law lives in Myrtle Beach, my daughter is having her wedding in Charleston....
Steph, we used to live in St. John's, MI, just north of Lansing. Never made it to the UP while we were there, though!
AMBNH, where in New Hampshire are you? I actually went to UNH for two years MANY years ago!
Honeybunny, love your name! That's what we called my daugher when she was little....in fact one time she got mad at my husband and said "Daddy, I won't be your hunnybunny anymore!
Go With The Flow, if all goes well this week then I will be at the beach next week....can't wait! My hubby so deserves a vacation----he has been SO good through all this....I had several post-op complications (actually ended up back in emergency surgery in the middle of the night) and he has never once complained.....he has been awesome and I can't wait to take him away.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better. Be well and get some sleep (we all seem to have trouble with that)! The Fourth of July has come and gone, seems like summer is already over!

Martha-I am from Spartanburg, SC. Its in the upstate. My sister lives in Summerville, though..which is close to Charleston. Cyndy-aka Chimneymae
-lives in Darlington..so she's close to Myrtle Beach..and is there now..well pretty much..lol./ Im glad they are going to redo the surgery and put your drain back in..I believe is safer that way and the only end to it..also..those demon drains do have a wonderful purpose!! I'm sorry you have had so many complications! I can relate, as I feel I will never get to the chemo portion of my treatment!! I'm probaly the only person that is in a hurry and wants this done..I'm scared so rogue cancer cell is multiplying in me..or nesting somewhere that they can't get to it!!
Has anyone had xrays, MRI's, or the like..or that PETscan? Should I have had those? Do those tell if cells are somewhere else like your liver??? Also, does the blood work they do at oncologist measuring some "blocks" (?) good enough to KNOW that cells nowhere else? Ive been so wrapped up in the whole surgical experience, I havent given much thought to my oncologist. Or that portion of it..
-
cyndie, I had mri back in december or early january. Showed spots on my liver and on my femur. I then did a bone cscan and something else (ultrasound?), and regular xrays. They were able to rule out the spots on my liver, but not my femur. I had to have a biopsy done of the femur. It was done in twilight just like the port (and two days before the port). Other than what they do at RADS, i have had nothing but bloodwork done since chemo started.
I have an ultrasound tomorrow. it's my 2 year follow up to my thyroid cancer. Thankfully they switched it to the same hospital so I can go from the ultrasound to the radiation tomorrow without a drive across town. I think I even have a little time to get lunch in the cafeteria beforehand.
-
Janet-What did the biopsy on your femur (and what is a femur?) turn up? Was it benign? Will your ulrasound show if all is all gone? Now, Im worried about you. I pray all goes good! Oh one more nosey question..did you do chemo for your thyroid or did they just take it out?
-
The biopsy on the femur (which is your thigh bone) showed nothing. It was probably an old injury to my leg that they were seeing. The ultrasound will show if there is any issues with my thyroid area (since the thyroid is gone). Don't worry about me, all is good. For your thyroid, they take it out and follow that with radioactive iodine.
Basically you have to go off your thyroid meds for 3 weeks, eat a low iodine diet (which means you can eat fresh fruits and veggies, little meat, nothing premade, no dairy, no soy) which will rid your bodiy of iodine. Then they give you the radioactive iodine which will highlight where there is thyroid tissue in your body and will kill it off. You are in quarantine for a few days after getting it. Have to stay at least 6 feet away from people.
I used to get irrriated that it was called a "baby cancer", but since going through breast cancer, I can see why.
-
I have to take thyroid meds..matter of fact, my sister and Mom do too. If I forget mine meds for more than 3 days..I feel like I've been hit by the flu bus..so can't imagine what all you went through! Well, I think I need them to do some kind of xray or scan to make sure nothing is anywhere. Onc Dr seems to think I don't need it,,,however, this is same man that said "I think MX and chemo would be overkill". I still don't understand why he didn't do chemo before he did lumpectomy. Anywayyy..that horse has already been rode. I wonder if they will order one if I ask?
Well, Im typing on here instead of cleaning my messy house up. Sighhh..
Janet, where did you say you were from?
-
I'm in Central VA
-
good afternoon ladies.. I just dropped my oldest off at his bus for summer camp. He's in Air Cadets and is gone for 3 full weeks. When he gets back.. my hair might be starting to fall out due to my chemo. He comes home the day after my second round. I had to hold back the tears and tell him I would be the same mommy.. just bald. *sigh* time for a nap. I am exhausted this weekend.

Got a question. I got my new drain and scraped out for my Sonoma on Monday July 1st. Had a rough time but yesterday seemed like a turning point for me. I woke up through the night in excruciating pain where the drain is. Took a couple of percocets, finally got comfortable enough to go back to sleep for a couple of hours. Now today the pain is back just as bad as last night. I have tried everything to get it at least tolerable, but nothing is working. I just need to make it till tomorrow where I can go see my ps and not have to pay 150.00 co-pay to emergency room. Help please. Deep breathing even hurts.
-
Hi, everyone. Party's over, and we had a decent turnout. My dh ended up making 8 pizzas.
It was incredibly hot. About 85* with higher than normal humidity. I thought I would melt! Sorry, girls, it was way too hot for anything but water! Around 4 the cupcakes started melting...
I did try to take it easy, but was probably more active than I should have been. Add to that the heat, and I am ready for this day to be done. Except, of course, that my dh has to go back to IN tomorrow.
Did I mention that instill have one drain? I amREALLY ready to be done with it, but I'm still at 30 cc's after 3 1/2 weeks. I wonder what the PS will say onTuesday?? He had said he probably wouldn't let it go past4 weeks, but he almost always regretted pulling drains before the output was down. -
Melissa- Hugs, it wont be as bad as you think. I ended up appreciating how quickly I could get ready without having to do my hair.
Janet & Cyndie- Sounds like you traveling ladies are having fun!
Martha- Welcome to the crowd :-)
Anyone that I missed, hope you are doing fantabulous! The trip home was a little tough on me but I made it and omg, it was so nice to sleep in my own bed! We got a little more than half our stuff packed and moved, go back in two weeks for the rest. DD got to spend the night withher bff which was awesome too.
Thanks for the prayes, I know the money stuff will work itself out. Looks like I will need to find a job down here, not sure how I will do that looking how I do and also needing another surgey in september. Ack! LOL
Missed you guys! -
Heather, how old is your daughter? Do you have other children?
-
Jerri- OMG I am sooo sorry for you!! That is not normal..did you maybe pull out a stitch while you were sleeping? Could you go to one of those urgent care places? Our copay is not much more than Drs office at those..while our ER copay is 100.00. If you can't, call your doctor on call and see if ..nothing else..they can call you in prescrip for lidocaine and rub that around it..I had gotten my lidocaine filled for my port/chemo treatment early ..so had on hand..ended up using it when they put in port ..well around it..it really helps with pain...or triple antibiotic ointment with pain reliever..that I just read in my breast cancer manual is good for drain sites anyway..Let me know..you are making me want to pick up the phone and call you or come get you or something..I am sending prayers your way that the pain stops and is nothing serious! Gentle hugs to you!!
-
Steph- My dd is nine and my twin boys are twelve. Hubby counts as fourth child about 1/3 of the year....LOL
-
Jerri, I don't know but i'd listen to CK, she's the expert here. I hope you get some relief soon!
I just spent my whole day making more buttons. Think I got about 300 or so made (about 25 diffeent designs). Have a bag to refill chemo center since they are out, a bag with some new ones for the radiation center, and two packages ready to be shipped to friends. Had to take a couple of breaks because one hand started hurting but I got most of them done. Have a few more printed out that I'll try to do later this week.
-
Hang in there Melissa! It is tough but you can do it!
-
Heather, Great thing about my hubby: he can act like a child when I need levity and can act like a grown up when I need that. Lots of guys know how to act like a kid, and some are the more serious type. Few know how to do both!
Melissa, you've been working hard and have the added emotional drag of your son off to camp. He will know you and love you with or without hair. Try not to think about it, cause it WILL be ok!
Jerrie, listen to Cyndie, but go to ER if you can't figure it out. It may just be a stitch, but God gives us pain for a reason: so that we know something is wrong. Make sure you keep us in the loop!
Janet, I'm going to start calling you the button queen! -
Good Morning Friends! I hope everyone slept well!
Jerri-Let us know how you are doing..I hope you are painfree!
Janet-Wow with the buttons! I was thinking, I bet the love you up there! You have such a great and funny plus positive attitude..I bet you are a ray of sunshine!
Heather-Im glad your trip went well! I looked just now to see if the Verizon call center in Charlotte was hiring, but they aren't. I'll keep checking. If you would want to do something like that..I could help get you on. 1 week before all this came down, my supervisor recomended me to go on to Training Asst..so I have some clout there...lol..not sure if they remember who I am now..lol..But they start at 14 hour so if you don't mind that type of customer service..its good jobs..and great benefits! Insurance starts on your 2nd week..One thing about them is they are all about integrity and works with them too..as I have been out of FLMA for about a month now..they could have let me go..but told me to not worry about my job would be waiting when I was able to come back.
Steph-Im glad it all went well for you!...you know its time to rest now!! Can you see my avatar ok now? It looks fine to me, but I could put another pic in ,,if showing to ya'll as wrong..I have 3000 pics of my fur baby. I need to get hub to take pic of me..have none by myself.
-
Cyndie- You are so awesome, thanks! I have experience in CSR, one of my first jobs was to answer the 800 line for the US Small Business Admin. For the nation. There were only five of us and each of us took about 300 calls a day. My most recent experience is as an Office Manager for a high end real estate company in a resort town, I have my nc real estate license. Thanks for thinking of me!
