My hospital where my rapid access breast clinic is and where I had my lumpectomy last year also entered the oinnk glove dance contest and because it is so small, absolutely everyone was in it. Good stuff!
-
I quit in 2006 and haven't had one since. When your ready you will quit.
-
Thanks loral. Unfortunately I'm one of those people that really enjoy it :-( but I know I have to quit so I will.
-
Try this - tell yourself you'll only have a certain amount per day them every other day (or couple of days or however many days) take one away. We are here for you!
-
NOT to promote smoking but both of my Mom's parents died of lung cancer, and my Mom still smokes a pack a day and she is 71 years old. Her health is fine...I think it's the luck of the draw.
-
Stopping in to say I hope everyone is doing well. I think about everyone often but have had no internet available to keep up. Over 10 pages to read so I skipped ahead to post this quickly before I loose internet again.
-

Happy Independence Day! Happy belated Canada Day to our fellow Canadians! Have fun celebrating! (Stay safe!!) (((Hugs)))
-
Loral, I agree. My grandma smoked for 70 years. Yes 70!!! Started at 13 and died at 83 of a broken hip. A friends mom died of lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life.
But, I know I will quit soon. Just stressful right now, got a call from the cardiologist yesterday for an appt for my DS. IT'S NOT TILL AUGUST!!! Damn waiting game again. This poor kid has gone thru so much medical wise I'm amazed at his tenacity of staying positive and upbeat. I have been talking to God a lot since that call, I sure hope he's listening. -
Busy, busy, busy. Quickly read the posts - so bloody busy here at work and home, but for that I am grateful.
Shianne - I quit 8 years ago and envy, oh how I envy it when I see smokers. I so enjoyed it, never felt ill on it - and yes I do believe its a crap shoot. But you will quit when you are ready. In the meantime enjoy them - I know that's probably the wrong thing to say.
OK gotta run - love and hugs to you all xxxxxxxxxxx
-
Dear Shianne29 - Smoking is something that MOST of us have tried and SOME of us have succeeded in stopping. I myself am still a "social" and "stress time" smoker and it certainly is almost impossible to give it up completely. I will pray daily for your strength and ability to quit or at least cut down. Peace ALL and Happy 4th of July!
-
Son of a bitch!!! In hindsight, based on the throbbing pain in my boob that Motrin and Tylenol and a strong Bloody Mary haven't lessened, maybe I shouldn't have done my exercises during a bout of cellulitis?? So sick of this shit. Just cut them both off if this is how it's going to be!! I can't wait to go to bed so I won't feel anything!!
-
Happy 4th to those celebrating. I just returned from a beautiful wedding. Am packed and ready to fly out to FL tomorrow morning.
SwgeeWi, geez...feel better girl and do take it easy, you have a wonderful trip coming up. You guys better do knee bends now to help you be limber to get up on those tables! Pictures...we want pictures!
Congrats Momof3...I remember those early driving days..some of them were nail biters...
Hugs!

Hi ladies
Luanne- no advice here on the smoking as I started for a while after my treatments and use nicotine replacements to help me but still crave them:) good thing in MN they just taxed them July 1st an extra $140 a pack so I couldn't afford them if I wanted them:) they are about $8 a pack. That for me would have been $400 a month almost a car payment:) or nice vacation:) I feel so much better whenI don't smoke and my skin looks better. My mom is a heavy smoker and I have to listen to her cough all night long when I stay with her and know it will probably kill her so that is good motivation as well. So try to quit again and keep trying and I will be in your pockets! We want to look good as we have some fun trips to go oneplus us smokers smell:) and we know this LOL hugs! And you got this!
-
Hi gals,Just got back from a demolition derby. Something about watching cars and vans intentionally smashing into each other kicking up mud and shooting flames that just makes me smile. My DD loved it too, cant wait to go to another one.
Enjoyed a day of leisure today after a late night hanging with neighbors on the 4th. Think we will continue with the leisurly days for the rest of the weekend. Have to get rested up for the big hooha in a couple weeks -
Past midnight here, and just want to say hi. Been a busy few days with kids here, but so good to have them.
When I read about people smoking and trying to quit, I am just so grateful that I never started. Did take the odd puff here and there, but never got hooked - phew!
Swgee, hope you can get that pain under control soon - no fun to be in such discomfort. Best wishes to you!
-
Hi all...just checking in...recovery going well and its now sunny once more...so think i will take next weekoff to catch a few rays!! Luanne I hear you.....I smoked for over 25 years...and gave up in feb 2011...just before i was diagnosed! For at least half of those 25 years i was trying to give up!...it was only after my mum was diagnosed with mild emphysema that i quit as i had a 2 1/2 year old and didnt want to have her dragging my oxygen tank about on her 16th! Who knew what waa around the corner!!!!thankfully ive never had a craving which is an ongoing miracle to me as like you I loved my ciggies!!! You will quit when ur ready and no amount of nagging will change that...but we will be here to support you.x
-
Hi Ireland....congrats on recovery.💃....If you can, do take next week off and be good to yourself....❤
Iatigger.....gear up girl..we're coming......lol.... -
Shari0707 - Happy, Happy Birthday to YOU!
Ireland - so glad to hear you recovery is going well. I'm on the table mself on July 18th and NOT really looking forward to it but "I will survive" this last treatment as I have all of the others.
To all of my additional fellow Sister Warriors, Peace, Hugs, Love, Prayers and Blessings for a happy and healthy, side-effect free Sunday.
-
Shari~Happy Birthday to you! And here's hoping you have a fanastic day!
Happy Sunday to everyone. (((HUGS)))
-
Happy Birthday Shari.....have a great day!!!!,
-
Happy Birthday Shari and many many more! We WILL all be old ladies together.
SwgeeWI - I hope you are feeling better. Praying they get your medications right!
Mcook - the final count down to your run! I will be there in Spirit. You are all going to have so much fun. Looking forward to pictures. 8.00 a pack of cigarettes, that is painful. They are 5.60 a pack here in CA, for the cheap indian brands, and I thought CA was outrageous. I switched to Vaping a few months ago - much less expensive although I think I just traded one vice for another. Everyone around me seems happy and rather than stinking - the juices come in flavors and smell great. Yes, I'd rather smoke but living has its benefits too.
Hang in there Shianne - if you quit before you can do it again. PM me if you want more info on Vaping (electronic cigarettes) They are very popular in Nevada. CA is trying to make them illegal. I even called my State representatives to ask them to kill the bill! Told them as a Cancer survivor, they were imparative to a way to give up smoking. Not sure if my call helped but the bill died.
We just got back into town after a few days in Laughlin. The weather was 117 - felt like walking into a convenction oven when the wind blew. Had a great time watching the fireworks over the River. Such a fun place. When it cools off - we will go back.
It's pretty quiet here so I am imagining everyone is feeling better and getting back into normal summertime routines. Life is good!
-
Happy Birthday Shari!
Swgee girl, hope you are feeling better, you only have 11 days to get rested up.
Ireland, glad to hear recovery is going well, enjoy that sun.
To everyone else happy Sunday, guess the holiday weekend is almost over hope everyone got to enjoy it a little.
-
One last comment on the smoking, since I started a month ago I can now poop and I lost 5 pounds!!!! Lmao!!!! $8 is cheap here in Ontario they are $11!!!! So I'm weighing the options of pooping to $$$$. Silly but I'm opting for the former right now. I'm aiming for the labour day weekend to quit again.
Off to cut grass then pack for Collingood, Ontario for another of my DS golf tourney. I'll be back a day and a half then pack for IOWA!!!!!
Love to everyone, pp where needed and know you are all in my thoughts and prayers always!!!! -
Happy Birthday Shari...
-
Hi ladies. Sorry I've been MIA. I was on vacation in the Outer Banks (that's in North Carolina for you Canucks) - just relaxing and the internet was sketchy at best. Everyone commented on how fantastic my boobs look though - so I guess that's a bonus.
I see you're all talking about smoking... who's trying to quit???? I quit 3 years ago after 32 years. Hardest thing I EVER did - and yes, harder then quitting heroin! So give yourself a break. I for one cannot be a social smoker and envy those who can. I'm an all or nothing girl!
So my boss is gone now. It's really strange to be here with NO ONE here to check on me, direct me, or anything. I feel really alone, and I'm not really liking it.
My mortgage papers got drawn up, but since it's a short sale we haven't been able to lock in a rate and they keep going up. I don't know if we can afford our house now. The mortgage ha gone up almost 200/mo already. *sigh*
So I guess I'm just deflated coming off the days of leisure in the sun. Spending all that time with my hubby, and now I'm all by my lonesome here.
I hope everyone is doing well. I do see the thread has gotten a bit quieter.
