sciencegal, what I really want my grandmother's old hats for is to sell on eBay, lol. There is a very large group out there who collect vintage and antique clothing.

Sciencegal, I am not 'sharing' my bc status at work either.
-
sciencegal, FWIW, I figured out how to post pics, but not by following the instructions I saw elsewhere on the boards, which said to click on the "tree" icon, and then fill out the information with the photo dimensions, etc. That didn't work for me, and I tried it several times. I did have to create a Flickr account, which was painless because it's just my Yahoo email address, and download the photo there. But once the photo was on Flickr, I just had to bring it up full size, and right click "copy." If you don't see "copy" as a choice, then try again, there are different ways to view the photo on Flickr, (as you can tell I am fumbling my way around in Flickr). You just keep trying to view it until when you right-click it you see the "copy" option. Then, I put my cursor within the text box here on the bc.org website, and then right-click "paste." I didn't use "insert image" just plain old "paste". I didn't use the tree icon at any time, just copied the pic right in. I know these aren't very scientific instructions, and you ARE sciencegal,
but I hope it helps, because I would love to see your silver shoes!!!
-
Excellent thanks Michelle! I am ona break at work now but will try that tonight or over the weekend when I have more time.
Bobogirl I did not know you had to hide your status too. It sucks huh? Many days I would have loved to use my cancer card and just GO home. Use it as a "get out of work free" card.
Anyway, if I can get the flickr account set up I will post the CInderella shoes - get ready for bling! haha -
Can't wait to see them! I am all about the bling!

Oh happy day. DH and I were headed to the pet store. He suggested I stop in White House/Black Market next door to look for the black shorts I've been needing for the past 2 summers. Found a lovely pair with silver bar trim on the front pockets (Hi-Ho Silver). I picked out the same pair in white too. While I was in dressing room, DH sent a salesgirl back with a white dress with similar styling he wanted me to try on. It fit perfectly. DH bought me 2 pr. shorts, 1 dress, & a matching black sleeveless top. And when I opened the bag when I got home, I discovered DH had added a pair of purple earrings to the purchase when I wasn't looking! I consider 1 item from WH/BM a treat, so today was my jackpot day. :-D Hoping to take a belated honeymoon later this month, so all of this will be in my suitcase for sure. 👙🌴🏊 Happy shopping, everybody.

Sounds like an awesome shopping day! Good for you! Hope you enjoy your trip! Take care

What an awesome hubby!!! And a wonderful day. You deserve it!!!

Well I can't get the photo in to this box but I can at least copy my Flick'r link! Hope it works.
These are the bling shoes I wore to radiation. I had to put them out by the pool for the photo, to capture the last of the sunlight for a bit of sparkle after I got home- their rightful place since I bought them in a swimsuit store!
Under fluorescent lights they are quite shiny!!
Haha. Gotta keep it fun, what can I say???
Edited by Mods to add the photo.

LOVE them!

Hello ladies,
I too, have had an amazing day shopping today! My DH and I are in NYC celebrating and doing lots of retail therapy. We are also enjoying all the yummy restaurants too! This has truly been the trip! I wish all my BC sisters the same happiness. Much love. -
This is wonderful, mamglam! Eat lots of yummy things for us...
Ronda -- LOVE the story of white market and your DH! And your honeymoon! So happy!
-
Yep, sciencegal, many is the time I said I was 'out of town' when actually I was at the hospital for some invasive test or another...
-
Hey Bobogirl I am on my "big computer" rather than my little notebook I usually post on and now I can see your avatar photo - it's Bobo! I was wondering. That is a darling pic.
Speaking of retail therapy I have a BIG problem with buying memory foam dogbeds, they are all over the house. I'm addicted to buying them.
It is great to hear about everyone's purchases! I think I'm going to Macy's and the mall around it in the AM. Retail therapy is contagious.
-
Yes, that's Bobo on Christmas morning!
While you're at Macy's, could you get me some towels?
-
sciencegal, we grabbed the photo from your link above, and included it in your post. Fun shoes!
I'm more used to importing pics from Photobucket, but here's how I did it from your Flickr page:
There's an icon below the the shoes in Flickr (little square with an arrow pointing out of it) and clicking on that opens a window that gives you choices. For our boards, I picked the Grab the HTML/BBCode option.
As the owner of the album you may have more choices with the next box, but I pasted the whole URL into another document, then highlighted ONLY the part that starts with http: and ends with .jpg. Copied that, clicked the little tree icon here on the forum, and pasted the URL into the box. Saved it, and there it is! It's all way faster than it sounds.
Thank you for the nice comments made about Mods on the last page.

Sciencegal I LOVE those bling shoes! They are gorgeous and they don't look too uncomfortable to wear. Thanks for posting and mods, thanks for helping!
So happy to hear that others are indulging in retail therapy, too! -
Mamglam you have to check out Century 21 in lower Manhattan for clothes shopping, another of my favorite clothing shops is Loehmans on 7th ave and 17 st. Cheap dinner is the early bird special at Dallas BBQ with an oversized alcholic drink.
enjoy your visit to my city
-
THANK YOU mods- you rock!!!!
-
NYCchutzpah,
Thanks for the recommendations! Unfortunately, my time here in NYC is coming to an end and will be leaving tomorrow. We have thoroughly enjoyed your great energetic city. Our plan is to return so we can enjoy more of it. -
sciencegal, LOVE those shoes!
I started out during chemo watching too many food shows on tv. First I had to order pastrami from Katz in NYC, then it was a crumb cake from Carlos bakery, then cupcakes from Georgetown cupcakes. After I shaved my head, I bought "j hoop" earrings and had them converted to jackets to hang from my diamond studs.
I also bought a button making machine and have spent the last 6 months making buttons that amuse me to share with others at chemo, radiation, and the surgeon's office.
-
I wondered how you were making those cool buttons- they crack me up!
I think "does radiation make my butt look bigger" was my fave.
We both seem to think that amusing our medical staff can't hurt. It doesn't have to be all glum because we are kicking cancer's @ss!!!!
And a bit of humor sure helps the other patients through their waiting room experience.
You go girl! -
I do some serious ones too, and inspirational ones. I try to do different things because everyone has an emotional spot that is touched by different things depending on their mood. My wish is that each person who looks at them will find the perfect button for their mood.
It makes my day to run into someone wearing one, and put a smile on my face for the rest of the day.
-
Love your attitude, especially with all that you have been through!!
-
LOVE this thread! While I've always believed in Retail Therapy - never more than now! I'm a designer/home stager and my own home has always been the "cobbler's child with no shoes". I decided that I might have a few business clients over as helpers and didn't want to blow my image. Well, now I can't stop... Home Goods, Overstock were always good for my business but now I"m buying for me instead. Just can't say no to myself anymore.. Hopefully, I'll come out the other end with a prettier home - if I don't go broke in the process! In the meantime it makes me feel good. Mission Accomplished!
-
Hubby just booked our trip to Vancouver for a week after my last chemo! I have big plans to go across the border! Kohls, Marshalls, TJ Max, Macys, JC Penny her I come!
-
LOL shoppygirl!!!!Can't wait to hear what you get for therapy!
-
Dont forget your cancer card!!
I used mine today to book flights to see friends in St. Louis after I finish rads. Loking forward to it. They have been so worried about me but I am FINE! So I must show them (it is hte "show me" state after all.
Happy shopping everyone! -
Woo hoo ladies......I am so glad I found this thread! I bought a painting the other night using the "life is too short " mantra. I love art but I always feel like I cant quite justify buying it. But we were at my neice's wedding rehersal dinner at a winery. It was a beautiful place, gorgeous weather yummy food (and wine!), and I was so enjoying having a night out feeling like a regular person. My oldest daughter was there and she is leaving for college in a few months. I am just so aware of how precious time with my family is. So I totally got caught up in the moment and ended up with a lovely little painting that I never would have let myself buy before!
-
Sciencegal, that's a great idea to see friends after rad. Gives you a joyful reward at the end
Star, I think you made an excellent decision. You'll always have that art to remind you of a wonderful family gathering. Bravo!
