I got my wife's blood work done Ca 15.3 ---12.5 (last month 16.7). CEA ----3.9 (last month 2.5 ). Normal CEA should be 0- 2.5 but it is slightly elevated ,what could be responsible for a slight increase in CEA

while CEA has increased ,CA 15.3 has decreased in last 2 months

what does this mean?????Plz guide

The CEA will go up anytime you have inflammation in the body.....so probably because of the fibrosis in lungs.

I try real hard not to do my bloodwork unless I feel great......it eliminates alot of the scares.

Also know that your bloodwork is not going to be the same everytime you take it and should not be concerned with slight ups and downs.....my oncologist worries about a 50 point jump.

    Hope this helps.

yep, tumor markers are historically unreliable. If there is a trend where they are climbing expotentially further investigation is normally  warranted. In this case it seems most likley due to the inflmmatory process/lung issue.
