more good news...
Congrats again to BUGS on her MAGNA CUM LAUDE college graduation. AND...
Jackie, Mary and Kerry ran a marathon this weekend - TOGETHER!
5 years ago the three of us met, here on BCO.org, so glad to find others who were like us - with scary stats, young kids and stage 3 breast cancer. We could think of nothing else, could talk about nothing else, and found relief and sanity in talking to eachother about things our other friends just didn't understand. We researched for each other, we cheered eachother on and we cried together.
This weekend we met, in person, and instead of obsessing about bc, we obsessed about the weather on race day, we told eachother we could run 26 (and then some) miles, we cheered eachother on and we ran a marathon!
Wait til they find out what I have planned for us next....

LOVE IT LADIES!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!
-
It was an amazing, awesome weekend! I will never forget it.
Much as I hate the reason that we ever had to meet in the first place, the friends I have made through bco are my "silver lining." I know I could not have made it through without everyone here.
And for anyone new to this stupid cancer journey, know that your life is not over. That you will go on and do things you never would have thought possible.
And Mary, whatever you have in store for us, I say Bring It On! -
So amazing!! To many more marathons run!
-
Mary, thanks for posting! It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life! Mary is right --- 5 years ago i could think of nothing else. And Kerry is right -- i never in a million years thought i would run a marathon - i wasn't even a runner before cancer!
These two incredible ladies were my inspiration, and they, along with all the awesome women who cheered us on when we were first diagnosed and continue to come in and cheer others on through this tough journey, have been my lifeline!
So to all of you out there, set your dreams up high, and you will see them come true!!
Jackie

Congratulations! I live in Ottawa and usually walk over to cheer on the runners during Race Weekend. This year that wasn't possible because I was in bed, loaded up on massive amounts of anti-nausea drugs, after my 4th round of neo-adjuvant AC chemo. I have 4 Taxotere rounds coming up, then surgery and radiation, so I'm in the middle of a kind of "medical marathon" that often feels daunting. It is so inspiring to read about women like you who have made it past the treatment and are not only surviving, but thriving! Thank you so much for posting this and sharing your optimism and resilience with the rest of us.

What a way to celebrate the five year mark!!!!! Congrats to the three of you. Well done.
Which of course has me thinking. I have about 16 months to get to that point, so should plan something spectacular. As will be ~Labor Day next year, perhaps a climb on Mount Rainier up to Camp Muir. I have never done that, and I would need to do some serious hiking to prepare.
Or a century ride someplace cool. Or a triathlon, now that I have been doing some jogging.
There is always the fall back of doing the wine trail in Yakima, and hiking the Cowiche Canyon. I can celebrate all along the way.
But so much cool stuff to do, and thrilled that all of us get to partake. Congrats again, Mary. And thanks so much for your ongoing inspiration. - Claire
