Do we need to submit our fall-down credentials?
When I was directing IT dept at a university and had a software company rep on campus to work on a conversion, I was called to another office to troubleshoot a problem and fell down the last few steps of the grand staircase, breaking my ankle. I screamed loudly enough that people came out of all the offices on that floor, and they called my DH professor to come take me to the hospital where I got a cast and had to learn crutches. I have also fallen out the door ONTO a porch, but don't recall falling OFF a porch.
Sorry I'll miss the June get-together. Maybe next one will work. Have fun!
-
annalive - you are definitely in the band!
-
Rock on, Anna! You are IN. You fell ONTO a porch. That is punk.
-
Anna is drunk at work! Shhhhh. SHe is the Sid Vicious of her university!
*Laughing*
-
That step out the door was a doozy -- fell over on the porch causing a sprain. Not imbibing and don't resemble Sid.
Just clumsy.
-
What, we're not The Tata Band?
-
oh oh...looks like it will be a Fall Off (sans falling, of course)
-
You girls are hilarious! I think you may need a special insurance rider, MondaysChild!
Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for asking after me, MondaysChild, but I am unable to attend. My oldest is graduating from HS that evening. We were sweating that one down to the wire! (Either way I would have been attending his graduation or I would have been in an alcohol-induced coma. Thankfully it looks like it will be the former.)
My PS has finally given me the go-ahead for fat injections, so we will be doing that 6/4. Yay! And my oncologist (whom I share with several of you), did not make me do a 6-month scan for the first time since treatment ended.
Love the new avatar pic, SpecialK!
-
I so love the auto notify feature on here now that I have it on and can stay up on all of the funnies you girls have going on!
Mondays Child....THANK YOU so much for the heads up. I was thinking the get togther was end of June, and just noticed after your post the date is early June. Yes of course wouldn't miss a chance to see everyone, I will be there. Since I am afraid to cook for any of you after SpecialK's gathering, is there a "bring a dish" list some place or what is the plan. I missed this if it has already been covered. I will find a special deli / bakery to prepare something special

dll - yay on the graduating son! Trying to get my DD through high school was a challenge - we came to Tampa a week prior to her senior year and man, did she ever hate us! She went to school about half the time but still managed to graduate. The good news is that she just graduated from USF a couple of weeks ago and finished her last semester with straight A's! There is hope for them yet! Yay on the fat-grafting and the no-scan!
ameron - you are sweet!
-
All,
Hee hee hee -
DLL66, that is GREAT news all around. I am so happy for your oldest's accomplishment. That is an important milestone and one that really is hard to ever make up. So I am glad to hear the finish line is in the rear view now. I am so sorry not to be seeing you that day, though.
And awesome news about being able to move on to perfecting your reconstruction. Your patience and perserverance are amazing.
-
ameron, just show up! I will take care of everything so no one needs to do a thing except come and have a good time. Just be aware, I am NO SpecialK when it comes to this stuff!
PM me for my address. I look forward to seeing you on June 1.
-
MondaysChild - you are sweet too - I really just have too much time on my hands, ya'll are way busier than I am!
-
Thanks for the congrats! I never thought I'd be so thankful for my kid to get a D.
He has ADHD & Aspergers, so needless to say he has had some extra obstacles to overcome.
It isn't so hard to have patience & perseverance when you have a stubborn PS behind you all the way. I am forever grateful that he was up for the challenge.
Huge sigh of relief on many levels. It's so nice when things work out the way you hope that they will.
-
DLL66,
Super accomplishment! Pat yourselves on the back and enjoy that breath of relief on all fronts!
Big, Big Smile,
L -
I would like to join you on the 1st. Sorry I am so late responding. Things have been chaotic and I had all plans/commitments on hold for a while. My son was sick and had to under go some testing, scopes and bx...and wait...and wait...for results. (We all know what that is like!) I wasn't sure if I would make a trip or even move to Texas to help out if he got the "dreaded" dx and had to have sx and/or chemo. Thank heavens he did not get the "C" dx! yay! He had bleeding stomach ulcers and H Pylori virus. They have been able to treat him with a combo of meds and diet restrictions and he is doing much better. He will need to have several follow up scopes to check the healing and more bx of some pre-cancerous lesions they want to keep a eye on. We are really hoping that the areas in question will be healed by the time he has the next scope. I will be in town on the 1st, so I will plan to come to our get together. Mondays Child I promise not to fall off of your porch!
-
flwarrior - so glad that we will get to see you but so sorry about your son and his medical issues. I had h pylori ulcers after surgery for reflux in '95 - they treated with an antibiotic and Pepto Bismol - weird, huh? Something in the Pepto is magic for the ulcers. My problems resolved and I hope his do too! It has to be so hard when your children are seriously ill - I have been so lucky! DD is looking at getting tonsils out, but that will be the first real issue in 25 years of motherhood!
-
FLWarrior, glad you can make it and happy that our son has a treatable diagnosis. PM me for address.
SpecialK, I had an older child have tonsils removed. And an employee get them out in mid to late twenties. Be prepared....it is MUCH harder for adults than children. This will be a tough recovery for her.
-
Um, did I miss the memo? What time should we be there?
-
spookiesmom - the time is up in the header - it says noon.
MondaysChild - I am dreading this - she is the child who passes out at a blood draw. The other one works in the ER drawing other people's blood - go figure.
-
spookiesmom, you didn't miss the memo. This is the same get-together we first planned mid-April and you said you were coming. We just have not been talking about it a lot, so easy to forget I think
Anyway, header says noon. But come whenever you get here. I know some of you travel a way, so don't think you have to circle around and kill time. If you get in the area sooner, just come on in!
-
Um, duh, can I still plead chemo brain?? Thanks!
-
We all can plead what ever our little hearts desire!
-
Sending healing thoughts to your son, FLWarrior. Hope he continues to get better. Best wishes to you & your daughter, SpecialK. Hope all goes well!
-
Thank you for the well wishes for my son. I do appreciate them.
Special K hope all goes smooth and recovery is quick for your DD.
DLL Congrats on your DS graduating! Such a huge milestone! Celebration is in order
Take kleenex in your purse, just in case. SO many emotions...I bawled when my one and only walked. Happy, relieved, proud, excited!!
Spookiesmom, Ameron or Firework would anyone/everyone like to carpool on the 1st?
-
Thanks guys - she won't likely have the surgery until August as we are going to Europe in July and don't want to risk having the surgery before we go, just in case she has a slow recovery or there are any complications. I don't want to have to seek medical treatment there - that would be problematic!
-
Thankfully she has TWO Nurses to watch over her. Enjoy your trip btw! Where in Europe are you visiting?
-
Okay Ladies - I feel like a dweeb asking this and wouldn't begin to know which category to use. Know I need to have this looked at but which of all the types of MDs I've got these days do I hit up about this? Will need to contact one of my MDs come Tuesday. Which though, considering all this crap I've got these days. Conditions were prior to BC btw and have flared worse - Rheumatoid Arthritis, Pre-Diabetic, PTSD/Depression/Anxiety/ADD-ADHD. Oncologist (private), Primary (VA), Rheumatologist (VA), Psych (private).
Dizziness has gotten worse and worse. Last night and today have been horrible. Haven't had it this bad since about 2000. The worst is when laying down flat on say the bed or massage table, not always the couch and when getting up. No, I don't move swiftly but go slowly with these movements on purpose. As this is getting worse, nausea is hitting. It's been building for several months but not enough to matter much.
Back then the head manuver treatment for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo didn't help much at all. Back then had Evoked Potential Response tests also - one said cause was Peripheral and the other said it was Central. See how "normal" I am with this crap. HA
Have checked during the movements causing this dizziness and blood pressure isn't greatly high or low. Only med taken today is for BP, just in case an Rx is causing this. So many damn meds these days it's effing ridiculous.
-
galsal - we are going to a family wedding in Austria and will also be in Germany, but not until the first two weeks in July. I would say to see whatever doc can get you in the fastest! So sorry you are having this experience - I have known a few people with vertigo and it is miserable.
