Tampa area BCO sisters get togethers

bobo - you are cracking me up! I share in the special force field of gravity that causes me to fall down too much - I fell off my own porch and broke my ankle in two places a few years ago. It was on a Friday night and everybody at the hospital kept asking me if I had been drinking. The emergency room doc made me tell her how I fell because she said that in 30 years of trauma medicine she had never seen anyone break this bone - and I broke it in two places! I am currently sporting a fat knee with two puncture holes from the cortisone injection I just got, and managed to pull a muscle in my back taking off my shoe! Don't be jealous, I am a mess!
-
Geeez, I don't know........
If our meet up is still on June 1, you all might be contagious or something?????
Lol lol -
We could all just lay down when we get there, might be safer, lol!
-
Now all of you are making me nervous! I was a gymanst when I was young and a diver... had a trampoline in my back yard, and have NEVER broken a bone. If I break one now, then we know it is contagious!!!
-
I've only broken a toe, and that was when the couch jumped out and ran into me!! And I was SOBER!!!
-
spookiesmom - I was stone cold sober too - I just thought it was funny that everyone assumed I had been drinking. 'Cuz who falls off the porch, right?
-
That was my first thought too SpecialK....must have had a drink in hand
-
And my mom was sitting on the stupid couch, so had to really not say what my brain was screaming.
I wish I had a porch to fall off of. -
ameron - it is a funny story, now anyway - this happened in Virginia - the 17 year-old from across the street (I am great friends with his parents) pulled in next to my brand new car and hit the back of it. He came and told me, because he was raised correctly, and told me his mom was not home and would call me later. Mom calls, comes over, and we go down the steps to look at the car and on the way down I put my right foot too far over the edge of the last step and fly off into the bushes! So, the poor kid not only hits my car but then I end up in a non-weight bearing cast, on my right leg, for 12 weeks. Can't drive the new car, can't do jack! We lived in a 3-story townhouse too! Everywhere I went in the hospital that night, intake, x-ray, nurse, doctor - all asked "so were you drinking tonight..." - I'm like "no, I am just an idiot..." It got to be a joke, and I definitely needed drink by the time we got home....
spookiesmom - I am no longer allowed to have a porch. I share your angst.
-
Yep, fell off a porch before too. From two different porches no less. That wasn't even part of the "accident" years. Aren't we going to have some fun! hehehehehe
-
A few years back I fell down the stairs the day we were to leave for vacation. I being the fool I am said I was fine and we should go. I was in so much pain the entire time we were gone. We climbed mountains, went into caves ect. Well by the time we got home my foot was so swollen I couldn't walk on it. Turned out I had a hair line fracture!!!
-
What a bunch we are! LMAO
-
kira - the last vacation we took prior to diagnosis was a trip to Italy to celebrate my DH's retirement from active duty. We landed at the airport and took thetrain into Rome. We got off the train and had to go down some steps after we exited the train station to get to our hotel. I dropped the rolling suitcase wheel on my pinky toe of my left foot and broke the toe. We had been in the country for an hour! I was OK as long as I didn't try to wear close-toe shoes. My bag was situated so that I had to wear my sneakers home on the plane or I would not be able to close it, so I had a glass of wine and jammed my foot in! Pretty soon I won't be allowed to go on vacation either, lol!
-
We sure are lamo! To add to that the year my DH decided we should move to Florida he told me at the park in Punta Gorda. I was so rattled I missed the curb when I stepped down and got a compound fracture! I was about to get up telling my DH I was fine when a very nice lady who was also a nurse told me you really don't want to do that! To make a long story short I ended up going back the Illinois before they could cast it! Not a pleasent experience!
-
Ok!!!!!
When I'm around you all I'm going to be realllllllly careful, make sure my specs are clean, and bring a cane for extra balance.
Anything else I might need? Maybe a garlic cross to ward off falls? -
Oh my goodness my Tampa bay bco sisters!!!! I am lmao right along with you. At the same time I have some serious sympathy for you. I have fallen down a flight of stairs on more than one occasion, both head first and feet first. The head first incident resulted in a cracked elbow. The feet first fall I was just sore. I also slipped in the rain and flew off the back steps landing in the flowerbed of the first house I lived in when I moved to Florida. Luckily I wasn't hurt, but the plumber was there to replace my hot water heater and he about came unglued. I was SOOOOO embarrassed!
-
OH MY DOG!!!!
Not you too????? Starbucks better watch out!!!!!! -
we're quite a bunch aren't we!
-
This is too funny!
-
Okay, you guys. Do I *really* need to get each of you to sign a liability waiver before you all come to my house on the 1st? Or at least have an EMT standing by? Sheesh. Grace and disgrace.
-
I CANNOT COME TO THE LUNCH! BREAKING NEWS!!
One million family obligations have made it not possible. (read: my mother). Promise me I will be invited to the next one.
My birthday is the following week -- truly, there was nothing I wanted more than to watch all of us fall off of Monday's Child's porch! I think we have really hit on something we have in common!
p.s. When I was living in NY, I stepped off a curb into a pot hole -- went down and couldn't get up. Fractured my ankle. I was 28, fighting trim, but like a beached whale. DLLP shouted at me to get out of the street! Emergency room, walking wrap cast thing, crutches -- up and down in the subway..
-
bobo - we will miss you - don't fall down before the next gathering! I am thinking we all have some more stories too!
MondaysChild - I promise to be careful at your house!
-
oh I've NO doubt there are MORE falling stories to be shared. those were the ones in Jr HS and HS. continued the theme on while in the Army too.
-
Oh yes...I have more falling stories!
-
Okay Sister Fall Downs,
I was recently told by our Realtor that my DH had requested we look for houses NEAR a hospital emergency room!!! He told her "my wife spends a lot of time there"!
MondaysChild,
I have a waiver tattooed on my back relinquishing you from any responsibility!!
Can't wait to see everyone's (bruises) progress!!
L -
Too funny.
bobogirl, we will miss you this time but look forward to seeing you at the next gathering. You will always be welcome.
-
DLL66 and ameron, are we going to get to see you two on the 1st?
-
Monday's Child == so sweet!
Firework -- could we be sisters? I think we are related.
Fall-down sisters -- I believe there is a t-shirt somewhere in all this...
-
Or possibly a band name, we could tour with Fall Out Boy.
-
We are WAY better than Fall Out Boy.
