Retail Therapy

Oh, I've seen some of those or at least knockoffs. Don't know if you've ever heard of Sam Moon. It may be strictly Texas. Wandered around there for hours couple of weeks ago. Bought only a glass bead necklace - the kind your or my grandmother would have worn. Couldn't find a purse there I liked.
I tend to stick with leather bags because as a rule nothing phases them. DH cleans them up with leather cleaner for me. I'm a messy so my bag would prob. be stained b4 it was a week old. Though I do dearly adore black/white prints. Do you buy yours off the website or locally? Seems they are having a 40% off sale on certain prints. Verrryyy interesting. Thanks. I will think about these.

Slutty red for me too, Scottie!
But right now I wish for blue. I am working my way into a punk phase
You all are psychic. I am having a bag problem too. I have just decided Vera is not for me. I was going to get one, but it's not punk enough. I want something vegan.
Suggestions?

I got a wristlet in "Night and Day" which is a black/white print, but my first one was this one in the Camellia print:
http://www.verabradley.com/product/Color/Camellia/Quick-Draw/1001231/defaultColorVariantId/174067/pc/639/c/0/sc/865/p/1001231.uts
I then attempted to get groceries out of my very muddy car while talking to my sis on the phone and my beautiful purse swung forward and slammed into the wet mud!!! I was horrified. I let it dry and then brushed it off....I'm the only one who can tell something happened! Lol. It's the perfect print to hide dust or mud colored messies! ;-)
I also have the "hipster" style in the navy with pink ribbons running through it and the hipster in berry paisley...very bright for me and I love it!!!! I'm thinking about getting something in red next. :-)
They are very well made, but I'm cheap so I've subscribed to their emails and only purchased when they were great sales. -
I love this mud story! Dulcigirl, you are a VB expert. I was so tempted. But now I am not sure! There is no true good bag store... it seems you have to go online for bags these days.
-
I have one Vera Bradley tote bag, and a bunch of VB knockoff purses in all sizes, made by a wonderful company called Larenda, in Northern California...definitely cute, and way less expensive, plus they make great accessories, too.
I usually get lost in the purse aisles at Kohls. Seems like they have purses in every style, for every budget.
-
I have to say ladies my favourite bag is my very large LV tote ....I know...expensive...
but I use it all the time and it's great when I'm out shopping just to through in bits and pieces. -
There is a GREAT Vera Bradley store in a mall near my PS office, but I got really great deals online. I don't think I'm an expert at all! Lol!!! Too funny! I've met people who collect every new pattern. Why? But, hey, if that's their thing......
Me? I'm saving my pennies for when I can start getting schmancy bras. ;-) -
Hey.....what happened to all my retail therapy gals.....did you all win the lottery and too tired to post now....lol
I'm going to a big wedding in June so I've been having fun shopping for an outfit....
can't go with the same one again, right gals......just not done...💃 -
I just found this thread- THANK you!!
I can't do the sexy heels due to still having post-chemo edema but I think I have enough sparkly bling to be seen in orbit!
I think I started the retail therapy in earnest with the thought, "can't take it with me", but I seem to be okay (cautiously optimistic) for now, since my lymph nodes were all clear after chemo, and am still doing it.
Cruising the malls or going to Macy's with my galpals are way better than eating, well just about anything else, for me.
Now that I have found other like-minded girls I too can remain unapologetic. Hey after what we have been through we sure deserve pretty things! -
Just had to say, i have bought post surgery bra from Asda, so comfy and pretty amazing value £6......i have spent £30 on a bra nowhere near as comfy..i will certainly be buying more from Asda when new styles come in...x
-
Well, yesterday we had a family wedding. I had tried on all of my old favorites from my closet. The "new girls" have made it impossible to zip anything up. All buttons and zippers stop at the bra line. :-(
Sooooo....I took my 30%off coupon to Kohls. And discovered that I now have to wear a different style of clothes!!! I seriously stood in the dressing room looking in the mirror and said (out loud), "Where am I supposed to put these things??!!!"
So I went with a skirt and sweater. Still haven't found the perfect dress to debut my pink heels. Lol.
Other than that my only purchase has been a compression shirt, sleeve and glove to wear on my first post bc flight. I get to spend Mother's Day with my mom and sister!! First time in probably 25 years... -
Dulcigirl.....just want to comment on being able to spend time finally with your mom and sister......how wonderful....I hope you enjoy every minute of it.
-
Yep!! Priceless! Mom is a two-time bc survivor. I haven't seen her since before my bad mammogram/diagnosis. Last time I hugged my sis I still had TE's. Squishy hugs for everyone!! :-)
^^^^Stuff you can't buy! -
Ladies...I ordered the Vitamix! It is cinnamon colored..
I have wanted a Vitamix forever! Cannot wait for it to get here.
-
I bought one on ebay a year ago and just love it.
-
Dulcigirl - the best thing ever, spending time with loved one. Enjoy. And don't be afraid to showcase those new girls!!!!
-
JamieB86 I just noticed that your little dog looks exactly like mine! he is a shelter pup and has been by my side in the recliner through all of this, my comfort dog.
And yes, part of my retail therapy is buying stuff for him and his "brother" who is a daddy's boy.
Happy shopping ladies, have a great day! -
sciencegal -my little buddy was constantly by my side throughout my ordeal. he was a puppy mill puppy that we rescued with the help of a local group. I used to be a cat person, now I worry I need a 12 step program for little white dogs.
-
Too cute! Not much posting on here, is everyone too busy to shop this week? Can it be??
-
I too, would like to invest in a Vita-Mix - enjoyed the demos at Whole Foods near my home. Hopefully, will purchase one soon. Not much else in the way of Retail Therapy for me!
-
I should NOT have stumbled across this site. :-D I've been trying to cut down on my VB obsession. I've given up the everyday handbags, feel too much like an old lady, but I love the solid lavender, and the new wallets which hold an iPhone with an Otterbox. Online 40% off is the way to go. I don't consider face care as splurging. Does anyone use DHC face care? It's a Japanese brand. Hmm, will have to read thru all the old posts to find partners in crime, and what they are buying.
-
IMO facecare - and any product to take care of ourselves after what we have been through- is totally justified!
I am behind the times i think - what is an otterbox? -
An Otterbox (life proof is another brand) protects my phone from ME! all the daily spills, drops and other things. Wouldn't go anywhere without mine.
-
Oh cool- and no "purse dialing" - I iwll have to look into that, thanks!
Do they make otterboxes for laptops? haha. some of my keys are out where i spilled a drink.
Well I bought a new purse yesterday after work. A fun bright blue- I really "needed" it! Felt great to buy and makes me happy. So what if it matches nothing? I love it. And at Ross it didn't kill my budget.
Have a great weekend and happy mothers day to all! -
Excellent job science gal! Highly approve. Now I think you should get a silk scarf to tie on the handle
I want a new bag but it has to be punk-edged. I have a subtle punk streak in my hair. Forty-two and hold a real professional job but am going back to my punk roots! So it's hard to shop for a bag. XXX
-
What color streak, bobogirl? I had purple streaks put in my hair a couple of months ago. Wish I'd done it years ago. Makes me look and feel less like a patient and more like a (slightly punk) person.
Happy Mother's Day ladies -
Hey Bobogirl- supercool! at Ross they had some bags with the 80's metal spikes on them- too wild for a scientist like me but fun- and cheap!
I have been inspired by rewatching "the big C" again from season one, now that I have a different perspective on it as a cancer patient myself. Laura Linney's character makes me realize that I could be a little more "out there" and have some fun with things. Time to enjoy life rather than just being a workaholic as I have been until now.
My nails now match my blue purse- baby steps for me! -
I was blessed this weekend to visit my mom in Seattle. Heading home with a new ukulele...
-
Sciencegal! Blue nails! Details. Are they short? Short and square? Studded purse is a good idea. I'm not sure you can get a real picture of this... but I am not kidding. Every time I'm about to buy something, I think, is this punk enough?
I don't look anything like the girl with the dragon tattoo. Sadly! For one thing, I do not put enough stand-up product in my hair. But I do embrace some hard-edged borderline professional punk elements... so glad to have found you guys!
TarheelMich -- Purple! How do you keep it in? Here is the story. First off I got blue. Really subtle blue streaks underneath -- they looked like highlights -- I have really dark hair. But they washed right out! And then I had them put back in, and they washed right out. I began to suspect that my sweet and conservative hairdresser wanted them to wash out
So I confronted him. He admitted that it was semipermanent! This was not good for my punk identity! So I threatened him. Look, I said. I am tired of your rite of three refusals. I want punk elements to my hair. You drive a minivan, he said. And you live in a suburb. That may be true, I said. But if you don't put punk elements in my hair I am going to discuss RIMMING right now to assert my punk credentials! (!!) No! he said. We are in mixed company! I reminded him that real punks do their own hair. And I told him he could pick the color.
So he stripped out some pieces and then chose something he said was called violet, but is really more normally kind of magenta-blondish. I know that's difficult to picture. Anyway, I'm thinking it's not punk enough.
Is this story too long? What is your advice? Next appointment right before my birthday. I do not want to be disappointed! XXX
P.s. -- Dulcigirl! A ukelele? I will expect a concert.
-
Bobogirl I'm blonde so maybe my purple stays in a little longer. You are a trip with your rim threats. I do know that my colorist mixed my purple. Like the best tattoo artists she creates her own colors. It was a perfect deep purple to start then faded to a unrespectable lavender. Maybe the more intense the color the shorter the lifespan. You may have to cheat on your hairdresser as I did. Find someone who does not know you drive up in a minivan. Or go your own way and paint your own rainbow. Whatever happens won't be permanent.
