    firework,

Tamoxifen will cause a thickening of the endometrium, not arimidex.   Tamoxifen blocks the ER receptors on cells from using any estrogen floating around in your body. After menopause there's not much left, so the AI's work to stop your body from converting other hormones(androgens) in your body's tissue into estrogen and that keeps levelsow.

I'd talk to your onc about what's happening with your gyn, and what he said, and maybe even get a second opinion before you have that surgery.  You deserve better explainations.    (((hugs)))

It sure sounds like he isn't quite so up to date on the difference between the Als and Tomoxifen. I'm on Tomoxifn for the very reason it doesn't remove all the estogen which my body seems to need for me to stay healthy. While on the Al's my body was very sick from the lack of estrogen.

Also need to say my friend can't come. I feel sorry for her with all the problems she has had over the last 4 years, but she just doesn't seem to know how to turn for others for support!

Lorraine, I'm having an ultrasound on Friday to check the same thing.  I do know if the lining has thickened, sometimes they take a small biopsy.  It can still be nothing.  It's just with us BC sisters, they are extra careful when it comes to things like that.

I am 42, early menopause this year, and had two days of light spotting, so my PCP ordered this US immediately.  She said she's not taking any chances.

    Keep in touch.  XXX B.

    MondaysChild,

I think so too. Tamoxifen is usually prescribed to those who were prior to menopause while Arimidex typically prescribed to post menopause. At one point, my onc's PA suggested I switch because of the SE's I was having. Why would she suggest Tamix when we believe it is either prohibiting estrogen receptors and the other is to block them!

    Will keep you updated....

firework1068 I was also changed from the Al's to Tomox. For me it was a chose of it or nothing. I broke out with Axum from all 3 Al's.

Thank you for your concern. Went in for third reconstruction, just suppose to be a correction on left side instead she redid both sides.....lots of pain, lots

I'm still on Arimidex. GYN keeps thinking Arimidex is just like Tamoxifen and that's where the estrogen is coming from and causing my endometrium strip to thicken. Cells are changing, as we all know, that's never good. So I've had the D&C with scope at St Petersburg General Hospital (my new favorite) and am waiting for pathology.

Again, thanks for all the support.

Ooh!  Firework, I don't know who falls down more, me or you.  We will have to start having a contest!  Okay.  One to zero.

We are both in FL.  I have high hopes that we will be stumbling toward one another soon!  I am not the most coordinated of all God's creatures, I can tell you that!  :)

Bobogirl, don't feel too badly.  Mother took out an accident insurance policy on me, had so many for a few years.  Medical insurance took pity on the family and said that they could all be combined since it was one person for so many accidents in a one-year period.  Each individually did not make the deductible amount.  Mother said if I died between 15 and 21 she'd know how - from an accident!  No vehicle was involved, either.

Have one Cousin that I think she easily out does me in terms of accidental injuries.  I'm happy to let her reign on that one.  Have a small scar on my knee from falling on it twice - 1981 and 1991.  Second one, had a bruise on the corner of the kneecap for over a year.

    Take it safe!

SpecialK...love the profile pic and yes, staying upright is my new mantra for two reasons, NO more surgeries and NO more fall down just for the sake of gravity!!

Bobogirl, This would be a great competition the " Falls down the most" contest! Which one would be winner, the one who falls down or the one who doesn't?

Anyways, I hope we stay 1 to none and consider ourselves tied!

    GalSal,

We should compare accident prone incidents some time. Mine can happen just from taking a breath......swallow a bee and got stung!

    Stay safe out there ladies,

    L

Galsal, some insurance company is going to make a fortune!  Firework, our contest should be this: whoever falls down the most actually wins, because they should be more taken care of.  The prize should be lunch at Satchel's.  That's this great and v cute pizza restaurant here.  They have beer there.

Keep it safe ladies!  That is the motto of our thread.  Special K, I will speak for the other ladies to say we are a tiny bit jealous of you, you are the prettiest one, whereas we others are all bruised up, with skinned knees :)

    XXX
