So...whats for dinner?

So, both my husband and I bought milk. So we have two bottles of milk when we hardly use one! So, the steamroller began. Make ricotta. Pull out some ragu from the magic freezer. Oops, not enough. Make another sauce. Make the pasta. Roll the pasta. Cook some of the pasta, but leave some raw in case I don't need it. Cut the pasta bits for soup. Assemble the lasagna.
All this because we had an extra carton of milk. Be careful in the dairy aisle my friends. Be careful in the dairy aisle.

Freeze it Susan!
Michelle, I want Great grand babies lips!!!! I would look sooo hot with them! Or not....
I came home today and puppy, spaghettios, yuck, I buy them just for dd, hummus and pita bread were all gone.
I'm guessing either dd or a deranged robber was here.
For dinner, a frozen dinner! I had a craving for a TV dinner, go figure.
-
Bedo- Enjoy your tv dinner- I bought baloney last week- sometimes we want unhealthy things, enjoy!
Carrie- Enjoy your boat ride and mini quiches. I am always so jealous hearing about your boat rides, I miss my boat.
Michelle- Congrats on your great granddaughter! BEAUTIFUL! You are such a lucky woman to get to see a great grand child. Enjoy her.
I woke up feeling awful. Sore throat, headache, ear ache etc. I didn't go grocery shopping or get much done at all. The boys just played and we went to the neighbors. Dh took the boys to the race track where they have a night where the kids can ride bikes on the track. I decided to stay home and relax while they went
So we have no dinner planned. I fed the kids some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before they left and Dh and I are talking of ordering a pizza when he gets home. To be honest I am just ready for bed. -
Michelle, congratulations on your darling ggd! So sweet!
Laurie, hope you feel better really soon! Nice that you got a small break tonight while your "boys" undoubtedly enjoyed themselves.
Susan, I'd be taking that extra bottle of milk to the little boys next door before ever thinking of putting it to the creative use you did! Always amaze me.

Pan fried steak, with a side of asparagus. Topping off with a strawberry-banana smoothie.
This is a fun thread, get to talk about food all the time.

Cute baby!

Adorable Michelle.
The reason I have not been here in a while is my DH is in the hospital in liver and kidney failure. Long story short, this is the second time he has done this to me. Back in the mid 80's thinking he was invincible to alcohol almost died on me then, God must have been looking over him. After 2 months of dialyses his his liver got better and his kidneys began to function normally. 28 years later sneaking the hard stuff at his store, when I found out I hit the roof and said, if you don't stop immediately you are out of here!!!! Then he started to turn yellow, he would not let me bring him to the doctors but after 2 weeks of looking at him like that and knowing the signs, I called 911. I guess I'm too late. He is not expected to survive. My DD is flying in tomorrow to be with me and figure out what we are going to do about the business. Know anyone that likes old memorialbilia, rare coins and collectibles??

Treatment day here, so I don't cook. I am having a bit of nausea so I want soup. Pho to be exact. Nothing like a brothy soup to make me feel better. I will do a post over on the stage IV boards tomorrow, but this is my third year anniversary of progression with mets. Three LONG years, two years with no evidence of disease. Might get a medium Pho to celebrate!
*susan*
-
Susan... super! best words "no evidence of disease"! Celebrate and get a large!
-
Susan, may you dance with NED for a long long time!
-
NED is cool!!! . :-)
Eric -
Yay for NED! You will see it again
Hope you feel better.Carrie- Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling better than yesterday and eating lots of vitamin C and D.
We hit the park this morning for a few hours with ALOT of friends. There were 9 kids who are all friends and we played until they were all so hot that they asked to go home
The temps cooled this afternoon and we rode bikes for two hours. All the neighbor hood kids did races. I think they will sleep well tonight! I haven't gone grocery shopping yet this week with not feeling well and play time. So I hit a local grocery store down the street and picked up a steak. We will have that with some asparagus and baked potatoes for dinner. I NEED to go grocery shopping tomorrow- we are out of way too much. But I felt I couldn't drag the kids to the store when it was so nice out. -
I made myself lemon caper scallops with veggies - It was my first time doing a wine sauce normally it's s cream....so my opinion on the outcome was meh it was ok. Tomorrow is spaghetti and meatballs - kids favorite!

Bobogirl,
Woo-hoo, right on!
Ok, here's a basic Vitamix green smoothie:
three leaves kale or six leaves spinich
handfull of grapes
one banana
three ice cubes
about 1/4 cup water
The recipe book will tell you to put soft ingredients on the bottom, ice on top. Also, don't fill the container too full, or the motor won't be happy.
Oh, when summer gets here, Vitamix Gazpacho is divine!
Two tomatoes
one cucumber
one red pepper
little bit of gren onion
some crusty bread pieces
sherry vinegar
olive oil
three ice cubes
Put soft ingredients on the bottom and blend (using your variable-one, turn up to 10, then flip to high.) This is great for a hot summer afternoon, very refreshing!
