Some Idjuts are also MORONS!

Yorkie - I had the IDENTICAL fear you don't mention
and was almost relieved to be always coughing up muscus - and needing my asthma inhaler. Mine was the flu ( do we over 65's get $$ back for our flu shots?) first time for as long as I can remember. Supposedly a "new" strain this year? Who knew? Fever, aches, CHILLS, pain behind eyes was debilitating, and still this cough, hack, cough, enough to sometimes not have a voice - don't like being around people = they SCATTER when I cough - I can't blame them, nobody wants to get sick, but know this isn't bacterial ( not green mucus) and not contagious - still...will be happy when I can laugh & not cough.Blue - wet pants? what else is new? coughing is WORSE than sneezing - and thicker pads needed. As I ALWAYS wear some kind of pad ( 68 yrs young, hysterectomy years ago) - but I agree, confirm, sneexzing when you are SITTING DOWN is a disaster....so glad we are all here to keep peeing in our pants! May we meet up some day in a Home for Old Ladies and do wheelies in our Spangled Scooters ( by then probably known as wheel chairs!) I still plan to do wheelie

BTW flu shots? Has anyone heard of stronger ones for people over 65? A nurse at Costco was talking about it yesterday when I went to pick up my meds - she said to be sure to ASK FOR IT next year...never heard of it????
-
On another topic...this appeared in my mailbox today. Remembering Konakat.
-
River rat, I know, but thanks. I have read it, or parts of it anyway.
-
Sunny, I hear ya. Was grateful for the constantly blowing of the nose. "They" say that even if we get the flu it won't be as bad as it would have been had we not gotten the shot. I guess "they" must know!
-
WTF??????? REALLY - who gives a kid a real rifle? loaded?
From the huffpo link pip posted: "Authorities in southern Kentucky say a 2-year-old girl has been accidentally shot and killed by her 5-year-old brother, who was playing with a .22-caliber rifle he received as a gift."
A 5 year old get a real loaded rifle as a gift? Are we living on the same planet????????????????????
-
I think the person who did this does not value his children's lives much.

Now this is really, REALLY sad. The Republican senator from Pennsylvania who co-sponsored the background check legislation with WV Democratic Senator Joe Manchin spoke the truth - he admitted that the Republicans in the Senate voted against it because they don't want to do anything to help the President. They are standing in the way of the will of the people because of their party. It has been crystal clear that they have tried desperately to stop the economic recovery. They refuse to do anything that would benefit the country, the people or the economy because it might help the President. So people are hurt, people remain jobless, homeless, hungry -- and more people are hurt because of the sequester (but God forbid that Congress be unable to get their flights on time!), but they let it continue because they want to hurt the President. Disgusting doesn't even come close to describing their behavior.

This beautiful lilac was a gift to me from my dear friend Brenda.
Sorry to hear about all those with colds. I had one a couple of months ago and it lasted for two weeks.
hugs,
Bren
-
That is gorgeous, Bren!
Speechless about the little girl.
-
Blue - the picture of pink confections would have made my granddaughter swoon. Her very favorite color is pink - VERY favorite!! hope you get over the crud soon.
Doctor put me back on - oh shoot - letrozole brain - I can't remember... but an asthma med (round purple thing you inhale from), as the cold made my asthma unbearable. Sounds the same as what you're suffering from Sunflowers. He said I was on the road to COPD if I didn't take better care.... Turns out the "mosaic attentuation" that showed up (twice) on my CT scans was indicative of bad asthma and the inability of my lungs to rid themselves of stale air.

has anyone heard from our lioness? I hope she knows how sorely she is missed and is doing well.

-
I'm still coughing a bit after 4 weeks of this bloody cold - almost gone thankfully.
((((((((((((((((Athena)))))))))))))))))
-
Advair, GG. I use it every day, twice a day -- along with Singulair (a pill). Keeps my asthma well-controlled unless I get an upper respiratory virus.
I, too, wish we could hear from Athena ... Thinking of you, dear friend!
-
GG, that sounds kind of serious! What did he mean by taking care of yourself? Geez we all have to breathe!
-
Libby - yes - Advair!!! I have NO memory anymore. It is soooo frustrating.
Yorkie, I've been trying to control my asthma just with diet and avoidance (staying away from everything I'm allergic to). Since it seems like I'm allergic to practically everything anymore, that is becoming more and more difficult. The problem is that Advair (thanks again, Libby
) messes with my moods - and since letrozole is already doing a fairly bang-up job of that, I just don't want anymore chemicals (also known as medicine) in the mix. Doesn't seem to be working out real well for me, though - so I may need to rethink things a bit. Anyway, I'll stick with it for a bit and see if I can't get my lungs cleared up. Then we'll see....Libby - do you have any problems with Singulair?
-
Bren - gorgeous, gorgeous lilac - never saw one that color before...ours are plain ole old fashioned ( 40 years old???) light, well, lilac..smell delicious
guess I gotta go to doc for new asthma meds - haven't seen a doc about it since I moed her almsot 7 years ago--rats! Hate the thought of more meds....rats, rats, rats....
but thanks for the good advice - I do have an inhaler - but it's not what you've mentioned...abutemol? or something like that - just referred to an "an inhaler" - rats again...
AAAuugghhhhhhh - just googled advair - se increased risk of death from asthma...WTF?
-
GG, I don't have any trouble with either Advair or Singulair. I am also allergic to a lot of stuff and intolerant of still more stuff, but Advair and Singulair are OK. The Advair may contribute to my seeming inability to lose any weight, but stress could do that.
I also take Zyrtec every day for various allergies - hayfever, dust, mold, etc. It is a sedating antihistamine, though, so I cut it in half and only take 5 mg/day (at night!). It all seems to work together pretty well.
I am, however, allergic to Sudafed. Red spots all over, just like measels. Even in my hair. Ugh!
L -
I use sudafed ( generic) often....would be nose drippy all the time without...SCARED of what I read about advair???
-
Isn't he cute? Judgemental people make me sick!

-
Actually, I think they ARE MENTAL! HAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

I just had to share this: The other night I was invited out for a night with the "girls." I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easily. Around 3 a.m., a bit loaded, I headed for home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallway started up and cuckooed 3 times.
Quickly, realising my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him. (Even when totally smashed... 3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos = MIDNIGHT !)
The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, I told him "MIDNIGHT"... he didn't seem pissed off in the least. Whew, I got away with that one! Then he said "We need a new cuckoo clock." When I asked him why, he said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said "oh shit" Cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another three times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.......Leslie -
Why won't they let this poor soul rest in peace?

Good morning all. I come most days a read. I laugh at the funny things like Blue's story of the cuckoo clock, I smile at the beautiful pictures and I feel really sad about some of the things happening in this world.
I do not understand your gun laws, in fact that is a real puzzle. This morning news headlines are that the police shot a man during a domestic dispute - in the shoulder - as he was trying to strangle his wife. Our police do not carry guns so they would have had to get them brought to the scene. But why would anyone give a five year old a real gun?!!!
On a less serious issue coughing is a hazard; don't I know as I am getting over pneumonia and some reason my cough is back this morning.
This is one of my last flowers in the garden as it is autumn here and the leaves are beginning to change.
-
Welcome, Alyson!
What a beautiful flower you have in your garden! What kind is it?
I don't understand our gun laws, either, or why anyone would think that a gun makes a great present for a 5-yr-old.
-
Alyson, that flower is lovely!
It is possible to break a rib from extreme coughing. I've worried about that happening more than once or twice over the years.
Our country is totally insane regarding guns. We live in a virtual killing field of death by gun. Really tragic and I do worry about my grandsons as they grow up.
-
That is a hibiscus flower, actually tropical but does quite well in our climate. Don't think it will have any more flowers as the weather is getting cooler, certainly not cold yet.
Yorkie, the doc thinks I could have cracked a rid which is why I don't want to cough.
Blue, every time I hear a cuckoo clock I will laugh.
-
Not only did they give a 5 year old a gun, it says they just kept it 'propped up in a corner' ... thus easily available to both kids. And managed to leave it loaded. Maybe along with background checks we need IQ tests.
Keep hoping for news from Athena. Sending (((hugs))) out in your direction lioness.
We have a hibiscus in a big planter on our porch most years. They are gorgeous. Have to bring it into the garage in the winter to make it last more than one year here though.
My older sister spent a year in Germany and sent cuckoo clocks home to my Mom. At one point we had 3 of them going. I still cringe at even the thought of ever having to listen to one of them again.
My main accomplishment today was giving the cat a bath. She's white, fluffy and 15 so needs some grooming help nowdays. Luckily she likes water so no blood was shed.
-
Count me in as well as simply amazed that a CHILDREN are still dying....but by gosh, isn't it wonderful in this case the adults/parents had the 2nd. Amendment freedom to get a gun for their wonderful five yr. old. Musn't trample on the adults now you know.
Long day in Marion as we made a number of stops. I'm sitting here listening to things I had not heard in months. Very nice on the one hand.....but I had actually forgotten how much I did NOT have to endure. On the way home I heard every click of the turn signal.
It will be nice to not hear later when it comes time to go to bed.
Hoping all of you with issues will be able to get some natural Vit. D and enough sun and warmth to help your body rid itself of as much of the toxins causing the coughs, crud and whatever else is preventing you from feeling tip-top.
Still adoring all the pictures.
See you all later.
Jackie
