I do wish we had a Costco closer here. There is one in the St. Louis area somewhere but we have never tried to find it. We do go to Trader Joe's in Brentwood but knew it was rather a straight shot from the Mississippi River bridge that is the dividing line for Ill. and Mo.
We do go to Sams because that is not far from the V.A. and since I'm down there a fair amt. I do take advantage. Maybe one of these days. We do have some new local stores and just lately found out that a new local I-Hop is going in. Maybe next year.

One of the conditions of our new home was that there would be a Costco nearby. We love the place.
Here is an article that my wonderful DIL helped research as part of her job at Sick Kids in Toronto. So much for the doctors who don't want to work in Canada because of our horrible medical system.

Pip...outstanding. I have to admit though with former Canadian relatives and having spent time there I do have a fondness for Canada. Good for "Sick Kids".....it sounds like they have some outstanding work going on there and are very receptive to taking on big ( kids needing radiation ) challenges and doing whatever it takes to try and make it go right...for the kids. Who knows, from that some adult answers might become available.

I have just read the news about Athena tonight, and I am so deeply shocked and saddened. Athena, if you're reading this, please know that you are in my thoughts. I was diagnosed at Stage IV with mets to my bones and liver, so I can relate to what's going on with you right now. I also had surgery on my spine the day after I was diagnosed. Please don't hesitate to pm me anytime!! You have been so wonderfully supportive of so many of us, and you are a very special lady!
Sending love to all of Athena's friends here too! I always enjoy reading your posts.
Rose.

Jackie -- Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids' now) is recognized as one of the top 5 children's hospitals in North America. Home to many firsts, but probably the "invention" that all parents (and their offspring) can identify with is......ready for it?...... PABLUM!
The 3 docs who created it way back in the 1930's (I think) sold the formula, with royalties in perpetuity going to the Hospital.
Constant and continuing hugs to our dear Athena.

ATHENA---HUGS AND SPECIAL THOUGHTS GO TO YOU. GET STRONG!!
cforc---if PABLUM also goes by the name baby oatmeal I have had this in my pantry most of my life.It is now called "favorite" by my GKIDS. My go to choice if I dont feel good. Some people like chili on cold night, I have PABLUM.-----kad2kar

Ok, now I know I"m in the right place - other Wal-Mart virgins on this one...tee, hee...and COSTCO lovers - YEAH. I am sure that means we can all agree they've got the best rotesserie chicken in the whole world. Even good enough to "strip" and make a fabulous salad, We should all make SOUP for Blue to get rid of the crud.
Jeeeeez, Blue, I hope it's not the same crud I had, and still have the remnants of - coughing like a seal. Can't take anitbiotics, and this isn't an infection - think it's the crud intersecting with my asthma - YUCK! Yeah, Costco generic musinex

And we in western MA are over the moon Happy Dancing - COSTCO is building a liquor store in West Springfield - kirkland wine, OH JOY!
OK WORLD IT'S TIME FOR BIOPSY RESULTS - GOOD ONES, PLEASE! Carrots, sugar & wine on offer...
Blue - HEAL - and think of the deliciouos smell of George's new brother

Sunny and Blue, I caught that beast last December. Was not the flu, just a plain old miserable cold. Took 3+ months for the coughing to totally go away. I was of course worried about you know what, especially because it lasted so long. But, hubby reminded me of recurrent lung issues which I've had since getting pneumonia at age 29. I frequently need his wise counsel about these fears!

An awww moment for the day!

Awwww indeed!
Hate hearing about persistent crud . . . my cold/cough will celebrate its 2-week birthday on Friday. It's loosened its grip a little -- very few uncontrollable coughing fits at this point, and only occasional nose-blowing -- but it's still there.

Sorry for all you ladies who feel cruddy. I hope the nice weather coming will help.
Linda, my grandmother was one of the first woman doctors in Canada. A pediatrician of course. She worked with Dr Brown, the inventor of pablum.

but, but, I pee my pants when I cough!

Blue, that's why God invented pantie liners! Just sayin',
