Eric - sounds like y'all are on the way to summer.  We're back to early spring at least once a week, then summer with the AC on like yesterday

Susan- Hope you get to feeling better.

2nd time- That sounds like quite the fall!  Especially after just having surgery, hope you're ok.

Lacey- I watched the Big C.  I think we are in for some big doese of reality and lots of tears.  Part of me doesn't want to watch....but I have watched all the other seasons and can't leave the characters.  Debbie- Did you watch it?

Another beautiful day weather wise here.  Loving spring and the leaves are starting to come out.  As Michelle would say it is taco Tuesday on my house tonight.  Tomorrow I need to so the food shopping and need to come up with my ideas.  DH thinks we should start eating healthier....no menu suggestions though.  So I am going to have to put my thinking cap on to come up with meal ideas that everyone will eat.

This morning DS2 decided to give himself a haircut.  He now has a big bald spot on the front of his head- right down to the scalp.  Yesterday I had bought a clipper set and cut DS2's hair, DS1 just had a hair cut 2 weeks ago so he didn't need one- I guess he was jealous.  These boys are nuts!

    Welcome nibbana!

Lacey, I am so proud of your exercise regime!  Hope to follow in your footsteps.

Dinner:  takeout thai noodles after teaching.  One beer.  Mocha maca crunch coconut ice cream!

2nd time -- Don't fall!  I cannot take it!  :)  I read your post with my hand out, wishing that you hadn't fallen.

Eric, you are so sweet.  And Carole, another excellent dinner post from you, as usual.  You make me feel like a hack in the cooking department.   It's a good thing I am marrying into onion rolls..

Laurie!  I love that story about the haircut.  Will you "even it out"?  Did you cry?  Or are you tough as nails at this point?  I cannot watch the Big C anymore.  In fact, I cannot even watch Grey's Anatomy.  After my first surgery I felt queasy watching the residents "doing it" in the supply closet right after they'd told someone she way dying.  I am such a wet blanket.

Wait!  I buried the lead.  I have ordered a Vitamix!

Laurie... I think at some point all kids try the 'self haircut' and always without good results...lol! DS decided to cut his own when he was in elementary school the afternoon before school pictures! Cut it clear down to the scalp and when I asked him 'what did you do?' he dared to say 'nothing... why?'... Thankfully, Walmart was open. That's how we came to own our very own Wahl clippers and DS had his first school photo with a buzz cut..lol!

Dinner turned into an asparagus frittata. Absolutely delicious! Served with a huge salad. Enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Always thinking ahead.

The self-haircut. _sigh_ I believe that my sister and I did this, but my kid never felt the need. More healthy means nothing... he needs to give you details. Does he want to eat fewer carbs? less fat? more grains? LOL! By the time you finish asking him all the possible questions, he will regret starting the discussion.

Laurie - per Susan's lead, be gentle with him. Maybe some menu ideas based on her questions.

Not sure if DD did the haircut stuff; don't think so. I know I cut all the hair off my arm one time, thinking I was "shaving my arms" or something like that. LOL about the clippers. My skinflint DH cuts his own hair with Wahl clippers. He's happy so what the heck. Fashion plates we ain't.

Seaside is so right.  You're not due for family pictures soon, I hope.

    2nd,

Yikes on the fall!!! I hope the pain is brief and that there is no damage done... Good thing you already have an appt with the PS for Thursday! I always worry about slipping and falling on ice in the winter... but I guess water is slippery no matter what it's form!

    Bobo,

Congrats on the Vitamix (and marrying into onion rolls... lol)... I would be happy with either and over the moon at having both!

    Susan,

Would you be willing to share the Asparagus Frittata recipe?

    Luv,

Funny about DH... I was so not happy when I had to run out and get those clippers! Told DS that he had just signed up for however many home haircuts it took to make up for buying the clippers (he was older than your boys Laurie)... I only knew one cut and that's a kind of shearing cut with a shorter length on the back and sides and a little longer on top... He seemed to like it...

He wears his hair very short now and still uses that Wahl but does it himself... Guess I got my money out of those clippers after all!

PS... my niece, when she was little, shaved her arms with a razor that my sister had in the bath... When asked why?? She said.. well people shave their legs so why not arms? They're easier to reach! Can't argue with that...lol!

    Do not cut doll's hair.

    I will not grow back

This is a lesson that took me 5 or 6 dolls to learn

It was Mussles Tuesday with my friend Robin! So, that's what we had for dinner at India Restaurant

    Lol Bedo!

And I will add, if your doll's name is Barbie, you should also not bathe with her or in any way get her lovely locks wet or she will forever be unemployable as Dr Barbie, Supermodel Barbie, Christmas Barbie or any form of gainful employment because she will look like a crazy person who stuck a metal object into an electrical socket...lol! And while putting it in a ponytail will help, everyone will know what happened...lol!

Yay Bobo on your new purchase! Cinnamon....tres chic!! I'm eager to hear about all of your VM creations during all of your free time! You'll have to let me know if yours screams out in resistance when making hummus! But it sure loves making smoothies....:).

2nd, hope you are coping well after that fall. Nasty timing after a procedure....

Getting a kick out of the self-administered hair cut stories. I'm waiting to hear that DGS tries to give himself one. He has soooo much hair and it grows like a chia pet.....put that together with his school trying to get him to be able to cut with scissors (he's two!). Recipe for hairstyle disaster IMO.

Still beautiful weather here today, so DH and I took a very long walk to the polls to vote. I was ready to be carried by the last block of this five mile effort.

Laurie, this is also my first time feeling ambivalent about watching The Big C....last night was so heartbreaking and well acted...and we know that we're in for nothing short of really acute pain this season.

DH is out tonight, so I just heated up some leftover homemade pizza with ricotta, and had cuke salad with it. I have officially decided that I do not ricotta cheese on my pizza....with basil/pesto topping or with a tomato sauce variety. It just is not pizza! Too bad I still have some ricotta left in the fridge.....

Seaside, that Barbie is me in the morning? I dunno, takes awhile for my eyes to focus before I look in the mirror

    Hmmm planning breakfast

    Milk, 2 cups with coffee

I think that that would be a good start.

My eating starts out hearty, then goes downhill throughout the day. By the time I get to dinner, it's pretty rustic.

I am back on the Paleo diet, because I was just diagnosed with Crohn's disease and cannot eat grains again. Ever.

So, breakfast was raw kale, tomatoes, eggs, backon and chicken from Whole Foods food bar.

    Pint of strawberries for snack.

    Lunch was beef and broccoli.

Dinner is steamed baby turnips with truffle butter, with pastured scrambled eggs.

Lacey -- I agree.  My Vitamix is going to be tres chic.  I will not make humuus in it though. I  am extremely sick of humuus.

    Marry me, Nancy!  :)

bobo anxiously awaiting what will transpire from the vitamix machine!

Funny about the haircut stories.  My kids never touched their own hair, but the DD did the barbie haircut thing...not to givethem good cuts but i think just a malicious side in her...she hated dolls of any type.  Her grandma could never get over that and kept buying them for her.

I have found that trying to eat healthy means sooo many trips to the grocery store trying to keep the fresh veges and fruits stocked up. Our nearest store is 20min away, and I try to minimize the amount of times I go into town. Living out here in the boonies is pretty, but not practical.

Gonna try some mini quiches in muffin tins for our apps tonight on the boat.

I am making a lentil soup.  Vitamix is not here yet.  I have some homemade mushroom soup leftover -- I think I am going to add it to the new soup after it's done.  For the kids: orzo pasta with peas and a creamy sauce.  I've got cheesecake and blueberry cobbler leftover for dessert.

Went to the famer's stand and got some cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes, apples, and marinated mushrooms. Can't wait for the CSA to start. Getting a box of vegetables every week is a good way to learn to eat in season and locally.

Also got some strawerreis and bananas to put through the Vitamix. THose things rock!

    Introducing Lilyana Regina:

My great-granddaughter born yesterday, 7 lbs 14 oz and 20" long

Precious if I do say so myself.

Chemo today - relatively uneventful but blood counts are low.  It's a good thing I've got two weeks to recover.  We're going out for steak tonight so that will help the iron/protein levels.

I like strawberries and bananas separately but I don't care for yogurt flavored with strawberries and bananas.

Michelle:  Precious baby...what a gift from God they are!

Landed in Florida today and now it's raining here!!  At least it's not cold..lol!  My DGGD's birthday party is tonight and it's going to be hard for me to drive in this hard rain with my compromised vision...hoping it will let up soon.

No food in house so ate a Lean Cusine...it was actually good...anything is when you're hungry!

Easy dinner tonight.  Pork (chunks of pork tenderloin) with mango curry sauce (jarred sauce) over brown rice.  Maybe steamed cauliflower for a side.  DH is the curry fan.  Not quite sure what an appropriate side would be.

Waiting for a review on the cinnamon-colored Vitamix!  I'm not sure I would use a blender enough to justify the price tag.
