Trip to see Vinnie

Mantra--did you put down a deposit with Vinnie when his rates were lower? If so, he might honor his previous rate. You could ask.
-
Unfortunately I didn't put down a desposit. He had booked the appointment but didn't take a deposit until he was sure I was ready for the tattoing. He asked for photos and decided more time/surgery was required so he didn't take a deposit.
-
waterpolomom, I don't know anything about going to Maryland, but I just had mine done in NOLA on Wednesday. I had a wonderful experience. Never felt rushed and the Breast Center is very nice! I am very pleased with my tats!
-
I have been trying to make appt. Have called, sent mails. Am corresponding with lady out of Fl that travels and does tats. She comes to vinnies and trained with him. Her pics looked impressive
-
Fredntan,
Can u please share her name and website?
I know Vinnie is excellent and hope to go to him in about a year, but I have a hard time believing he is the one and only top tattoo artist in the USA.
I wish he could start training other artist around USA. As many breast cancer patients as there are it would seem there would be plenty of business to go around and more options to BC patients.
Many patienys have to go without or just settle for sub par because they cant afford to travel to NOLA or Baltimore. -
I so agree. New York is a large city, with many talented artists. So many families have been stricken with BC. Surely many would be interested in helping patients with BR. After all we do have many talented ocularists on new york. If anyone has a name in New York, or close-by please let me know. It would be appreciated. Eileen

I will be using the micropigmentation specialist at my PS office at HUP. While researching her work I came across a center in NYC that seems interesting. Now, I haven't spoken to anyone who has used this center, so I don't know how good they are. But I thought I would post a link so that anyone in the NYC area could check it out.

The person my PS office uses is Mandy Sauler in case anyone is looking in the Philly area. I will be meeting with her in the summer I hope.
-
Janet--those photo's are incredible. Was also impressed with the cosmetic facial photo's. Does anyone have any experience with facial tattoo? Has anyone used Melanie? Would like to hear about your experience. Eileen
-
Melanie's office already contacted me. As I stated, the Photo's are impressive. I certainly will be pursuing this route, when ready for my final tattoo. The are located in midtown, manhattan. Next is my fat grafting surgery on May 6. Making progress, and so pleased with my results. Eileen
-
Thanks to Janet and Eileen for posting more options for nipple tattoos!
I have a brother in DC and one in Philly that I can drive nine hours to visit and stay over when time comes.
Does anyone know the name of the tattoo artist in Florida? -

Pink, I am not sure if this is who you are talking about but go to this website. I think she also travels up to Charleston to MUSC . -
Pink - I think Melanie Whitney has an office in Florida (Boca). http://www.permanentmkup.com/permanent-makeup-florida/permanent-makeup-florida.php
-
Melanie is in Florida and New York, two weeks at a time--as per her office. Quite impressed with her photo's . Eileen
-
Thanks all! My mother lives in Fort Myers and my DD will be going to a college in St Petersburg, so was hoping for gulf coast.
I am going through my natural breast recon with Dr Kline in Charleston so may check out Renee, too. -
Renee's photo's of RC tattoo's are also impressive. Eileen
-
PinkHeart,
One of our members, Facecrafter, is a tattoo artist who also does nipple tattoos. Not sure if she does 3D or if she is still in business as she also has been diagnosed with BC. She is in Sarasota, FL. Why don't you PM her and ask her.
-
Thanks sassa. Sorry to hear that she has bc now too.
-
Hello Ladies
I will be tattooing with Vinnie at his shop in Maryland.....tattooing 3d nipple areolas
and also tattooing eyebrows
-
Wow! Are you moving there or is this just a temporary thing?
-
Renee,
Have you done tatoos for patients of Dr Kline and Dr Craigie, Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction in Charleston, SC? -
I am honored to be tattooing with Vinnie in his MD shop.....I will be tattooing
up there as needed.....I travel to tattoo at different locations....I am actually in Charleston tattooing this week.....
The Center for Natural Breast Recon.....Dr Craigie and Dr Kline refer to me..Just talked with the office today : ) -
Vinnie's work is great! My PS works with Rachell Hall in Scottsdale, AZ. She trains others throughout the country. Here is her websitewww.breasthetics.com/default.h.... Check the link for the foundation info on the left to see a video with pictures of her work. When she did my 3D Tattoos, she even created an “illusion of symmetry” as my right breast is just a bit lower than the left. That is not as easy to notice since I got my tattoos. A IV nurse at a Surgicenter wasn't really looking as another nurse talked to me about the tattoos and she thought they were real! Rachell had a book that's been published of her work and I couldn't tell which ones were just tattoos and which ones had nipple reconstruction. She did the work at my PS's office and my insurance paid all but the $30 co-pay. Here's a link to Scottsdale Living Magazine and an article about the work Rachell does: scottsdalelivingmagazine.com/b...

Renee,
Do you do your tattooing in Dr Kline's office. Will insurance pay if done there?
I may be interested in having you do it at Vinnie's in Finks urg, Dr Kline office, or your office in Fort Lauderdale when visiting my mother in Fort Myers.
Glad to hear you are connecting with Drs. Kline (my surgeon) and Craigie. Excellent natural breast reconstruction from start to finish!
Your work shows you are incredibly talented, too. Thanks for helping BC patients! -
I've got my appt. set up with Vinnie in NOLA for Sept. 12 for my tatoos.
-
Judy,
How much is Vinnie charging and how much is insurance paying? Is there a facility fee? -
I really don't know, but the insurance lady at the Center told me he had went up on his prices. My insurance should pay for it since they are in-network and its being done at the clinic.
-
Thanks. I had some surgery a year ago at Johns Hopkins where Vinnie got his start. The JH nurse said there would be a facility fee along with Vinnie fees. Apparenly Vinnie no longer going to JH.
NOLA accepts only a couple of insurance plans. So does this mean they are accepting whatever out of network they can get? So patient needs to pay NOLA then write $600 check to Vinnie on the spot?
I've already met my deductible and out of pocket for the year on my insurance. So I dont have to pay a dime on medical expenses covered for remainder of year.
So I assume when NOLA says out of pocket they mean the balance of out of network costs the majority of patients have to pay to go there since they only accept a few plans?
Thanks! -
I am having Vinnie do my tattoos in NOLA on October 9th. They take all of your insurance info before you can book the appointment and they contact your insurance company, then they call you to set up the appt. It only took 2 days. I live in Michigan and my insurance won't cover out of network, so my cost will be $600...if my insurance covered then I would have had to pay $200. All money is due 10 days before your appointment.
-
I set my appointment up today, maybe they looked up my insurance and seen the center was in network, but nothing was said to me about paying anything before getting it done. I guess I will just wait and see.
-
Thanks, the insurance lady did say I was very lucky with the insurance I have.
