Chanel is 5 years old, female and has an autoimmune problem.  My youngest DD rescued her last week.  I'm allergic to her but couldn't wait to see her.  Animals take to me right away because I love them so much.   Her paws were slightly swollen because of her health problems but that didn't stop her from following me everywhere yesterday.

Today we cleaned and did some gardening.  My second grandbaby is due any day now and I feel much better having done all those chores so I can spend time with my oldest DD and grandbaby when the time comes.  George is going to have a little brother.

Methinks I did too much though.....my back is killing me!

No problemo mods, but I still think those maps were hilarious.  I was born in Godfathers and it didn't bother me to be represented as such.

Glenn Beck described himself as a former rodeo clown.  Here is how he manages to get those tears flowing.

People who take him seriously need medication.

She's a cutie Blue.  How does an autoimmune disease present in a cat?  I've always wondered if that would be the official dx for my cat Emma.  She has allergic reactions to most foods (now all, so I just grin and bear it, as does she) and vacinnations have twice tried to kill her.  Herpes, which resolves on it's own in most cats, well, she needs heavy duty drugs to get better.  She's my $5000 cat.

    He's NUTS!

Easy dinner tonight.  Spinach Fettuccine Alfredo, fennel salad and cranberry wine!

Kam, take it easy and relax.

She has allergies too which affect her skin and the bottom of her paws.  If it gets really bad they have steroid injections.  Apparently this was caused by a previous infestation of fleas.

    Love the flower boats, Blue.

I'll bite on swapping dinner plans: I'm cooking Southern tonight, y'all.  Cornbread, collards with bacon and lots of pepper, black-eyed peas and spicy catfish.  Plus smoky picked okra wrapped in ham as an appetizer.

The kitchen would smell amazing if only I could smell . . . I'm in day four of a miserable cold, and I realized as I was cooking up the bacon that I couldn't smell a damn thing.

Linda, I lost my sense of smell because of PD (one of the symptoms)......I can't smell a thing, which comes in handy sometimes.  hehehe!

For the Glen Becks, Faux News and others of that ilk:

I think a huge majority of them ran out way, way back....seem to have no idea that it is so transparent.

Just thinking about how things went in Boston and I think what goes is that we feel such distress for all those who had to live through those events.  We are deeply empathetic.  I feel at this moment such admiration for all of them.

As well, I hope all the people of Texas are able to get through all that happened to them, through no fault of their own.  We are our brother's keepers one way or the other.....it will always be that way.

Blue, after my second chemo, my sniffer really really worked.  Back to my normal self...today, couldn't smell a thing my other two walking partners were complaining about.  The chemo affect only lasted a few weeks.  I can tell you this, smelling things is not all that it's cracked up to be.  Tasting things - a very different story.

I have a friend who has not been able to "smell" for a long time and often says she cannot 'taste' as well any more either.  I do think there is a connection there. My dad had to have his nose removed from cancer and a new one fashioned.......so for 35 years of his life he often did not smell and did not always GET the full flavor of many things that he previously really enjoyed eating.

My taste buds work fine, thank goodness.  I love to eat!  Some PLWP lose the taste buds too.

During chemo, I'd have to travel to the big city to get my fills and we'd always try a new restaurant (I go for the $12 a meal places, but good food).  We had this scrumptuous hamburger and salad at this one brewery so I wanted to go back...it was about a month later.  I remember commenting, "this doesn't taste as good as the last time."  I ordered my first alcohol in a year - a beer, as it was a very hot April day and it was blah.  I was so disappointed.  Went out the next day with a different friend and finally realized, I wasn't tasting a thing!  What a wasted trip to the big city...Losing hair, losing taste buds....a true toss up.

Oh yes I hate the part where your taste buds go south. I surely can't blame a restaurant if things taste weird or flat now because it's............me!

E, get those bone mets stable and go forward.

Overheard at coffee hour after church today, one woman saying to another she hadn't shaved her legs  in a week and no one could tell. I pulled up my pants leg and said, "haven't shaved since September 2000. Second best side effect of chemo, haven't had to shave in almost 13 years. One woman asked what was the first best side effect. I'm still alive, I replied.

A little something for all the black cats I've known and loved and fed at the feral feeding stations.  My joy every day to see who comes out when they hear my car approach.  I've gone there long enough for a few to warily let me pet them.  I'm sure due to my strong views of things ( life experiences ) I'm often perceived as un-caring, but I help anyone if I can, when I can.  No one can go through life alone.....we all need a helping hand in some way and I am glad to do what I can.  Most of the things I do are silent forms of help because in the main I think it is best, at least for me.  I'm in reality a wall-flower type and it just feels much more 'natural' for no one to know but me.  Maybe it comes from dealing so long with animals but I'm satisfied so that is a signal that its right.

Lovely bright, sunny day here.  Much like yesterday.  More rain is coming but sounds like this will be an April much more like the ones we were having when I first moved back home 16 years ago.  Ah, the good old days.  Often didn't turn on the air conditioner until end of first week in August.  I'm hoping for a more normal summer this yr. rather than the horrid drought we had last.

Hope you all have a stunning day.

    Jackie

edited---meant to say, I haven't shaved my underarms since 2007.....and I've loved every minute of not doing it.

Jackie, that is also the definition of insanity! Love the black kitty!

P.S. I'm with you about the animals. As I've mentioned I feed my squirrel and rabbit fur babies. Yesterday I was lounging on the deck reading my kindle. One of my little "friends", as I call them, climbed the tree and hung out next to me for awhile. We had a one-sided conversation, me talking and her looking quizzically back at me. Animals can give us so much joy!

    E, I'm renaming you Methuselah!

    Monday hugs to all!
