That's a good link, Athena.  Thanks.

The last sighting was close to the river.  Hope they're watching for swimmers.

    Some concerning headlines.

From the Times, Grassley wants Boston issue linked to immigration debate.

From the Huffpost, about 15 policemen injured....

And a case of Man Bites Dog: According to Cretin News Network, the suspects' father says whoever shot the older one is a coward.

And, of course, more explosives recovered.

Watertown is apparently in a sort of lockdown, E, so let's hope.

Blue....saw the peace dog and thought of Janis Joplin.  I miss that music but some Jerry Garcia can set me to rights.

Just home from work so wondering if they have the younger brother as yet.  I also did see the 'good' Uncle and felt for him.  All he seemed to have wanted is to live his live in peace in a country he embraced.  Wish all who come here could have such positive feelings for the way of life they adopt.

Loving the pictures and the psycho-babble.  Glad its Friday......I need some time off.

What a messed up week this has been, at every level.  Week, we're done with you!  Get out of here!

Waiting for Eric to get home so we can go out to celebrate his winning trial -- he got a fired worker reinstated.  A tiny win for justice, and about the only good thing to happen this week.  After that we're getting together with a bunch of my running friends who were at Boston.  The original plan was to celebrate their accomplishments, but now . . .

By sheer happenstance, the gathering is at the bar directly behind our building.  Because of the way air and sound flow, when we're lying in bed, it sounds as though a party is going on in the next room: a party that lasts until the wee hours of the morning, night after night.  We have kind of a tense relationship with the bar owner and have never set foot in the place, but what the hell.

Yeah, it always sounds as though they're having a great time in there!

And after this week, I could definitely use a beer.  Or two.

    Such grace and humanity.....

Extraordinary letter from the family of the Chinese student, LU Lingzi killed during the bombing:

"We are grieving and at a loss for words to describe the pain and sadness we are experiencing following the sudden passing of our dear daughter, Lingzi. She was the joy of our lives. She was a bright and wonderful child. We were thrilled to watch her grow into an intelligent and beautiful young woman. She was a positive role model for many others.

It has always been her dream to come to America to study. While she was here, she fell in love with Boston and its people. She loved her new friends and her professors at Boston University. She wanted to play a role in international business, specializing in applied mathematics. She has been studying very hard toward her goal. Sadly, it was not to be.

While her dream has not been realized, we want to encourage others who have Lingzi’s ambition and dreams, and want to make the world a better place, to continue moving forward.

We are grateful and thankful for the assistance we have received from the Chinese government, the U.S. State Department, Boston Police Department, Boston University, and so many others. Your kindness will always be in our thoughts and memories of how you reached out selflessly to us during the darkest hour of our lives. We understand the work of the media, too, and ask them to please respect our wish for privacy at this difficult time.

We are also humbled by the compassion, caring and love we have received from people all over the world. We wish to thank each of you for your prayers and for thinking of our daughter. Thank you for sharing your memories of her, your love for her, and your good wishes to our family.

Also, we wish to extend our thoughts, prayers and sympathy to the other victims of this tragedy and to their families.

We hope that everyone who knew Lingzi, and experienced the positive spirit and joy she had, will help carry on her spirit. We hope that everyone who has now heard about Lingzi will keep a memory of her in their hearts.

This statement was issued by the family of LU Lingzi, who was killed in the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15."

Beautiful letter from LU's family.  Thanks Belinda.

Me thinks term limits are the only answer to solving our corporately owned government.  Well, that's my first reaction.  I suppose the NRA and their ilk can buy their candidate term by term and reward them in other ways than re-election.  Take it all - public finances for campaigns, period.

Just heard - suspect in custody.  Good.

Great job by federal and state law enforcement - and by Gov. Patrick. This is government at its best - and government is helping Texas too. Here is a slideshow of the day's events in Boston - let me know if it doesn't work:

Catching suspect no. 2 alive was quite a feat, IMO.

Wow !!!  Glad there was a fairly peaceful end to this terrible drama.  I'm glad that the young man is alive and hope that he is able to shed some light when possible as to why he and his brother felt the need to do such a horrific thing.

I hope the people in Boston as well as any family members living elsewhere and worried about their loved ones can rest a lot easier tonight.  I hope people every where can feel a sense of release for now and a return to some normalcy.

People cheering law enforcement - brings tears to my eyes. What a sign of unity. It is wonderful to see government confirming our faith. The US Senate let us down the other night as a country, but Boston made us proud.

    Riveting images.

Much gratitude to all the law enforcement officers involved in the successful capture of Suspect #2.

And my heart goes out to the families and friends of those murdered in the bombings and the officer murdered last night. I hope this helps them.

Tragedy upon tragedy, but maybe that young man can give us some clues as to how such senseless crimes come about. What a beautiful letter from the Chinese student's parents. My heart is aching for her, the other young woman, M.I.T. police officer and sweet little Martin.

Beautiful letter from Lingzi's family - thanks for sharing it.  Still trying to wrap my mind around the horror of it all.  Imagine sending your beautiful, talented child to study overseas and having -- this happen.

Heard lots of Boston stories last night from Brooklyn runners who were there.  One older guy was just short of mile 26 when the bombs went off; his wife was in the finish area.  She heard the explosions, knew from tracking her husband online that he was pretty close to the area, and started running TOWARD the bomb site until police turned her away.  With cell phones disabled, it took some time before they were able to make contact and each know that the other was OK.

Before the social gathering, a bunch of the runners had gathered at a nearby church for an informal counseling session.  Just as they were leaving, word came that the second suspect had been captured alive.  The general feeling was that a weight had lifted.  There's a strong desire, among these folks, to try to understand WHY.
