THE 5TH TA TAS SISTERHOOD REUNION IN VEGAS BABY!!!
Comments
-
Our dear friend and fellow TaTa, Jill (luvmyself) has passed away from metastatic breast cancer. Jill went to Vegas with us all in 2011, but was unable to attend last year. The Phoenix girls have all become quite close and we will miss her greatly. But Jill is finally at peace. We will post again when we know more about the service.
-
I am so sorry to hear this, Robin. Thanks for letting us know.
-
Robin, thank you for letting us know. I believe that Jill is our first sister to pass. So sad. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and with you Phoenix girls who were close to her.
Cheryl and Saskie - I will miss you both too if I can't make it. So many memories - and I remember that first night so well when a few of us met up in the bar on the Thursday night. The airline had lost our luggage, Sylvia was convinced we were never going to see the luggage again and then my husband called my cell to tell me that someone had forged our credit card and used it to the tune of $900 so far. Seems they used the card in a drapery store...?? he was upset and I was freaking wondering what I was going to do in Vegas without a credit card and how much trouble it was going to be to get a new card issued in time when I realized that it wasn't a theft after all. The new central vac that we had bought for our home was purchased in a little vaccuum shop at the back of a drapery store! Ya had to laugh.....Later on that evening, Sylvia and I got to our room and when I went to close the curtains, I saw a "used" condom on the floor by the window...! Obviously the maid had missed that one from their previous guests!... Thankfully, there were no more mishaps that trip. Just the bonding and making of lasting friendships. I never had a sister, but I gained many that weekend....
To all the newbies who are hesitating, don't miss out. It's an experience you will never forget and you will never be alone.......

Dreaming about Las Vegas while we have rain, sleet, freezing rain and thunder snow in Okahoma!
-

Hugs to all

Terri - Hope that you win the lottery - If I win the lottery we will definitely see you there and you will fly first class all of the way!!!!
Hard to believe that it is almost time for Vegas again. It really is a 6 month experience from the time we start talking about it until we actually get there.
So much has happened since we last saw each other - beautiful births and tragic deaths. There is so much love in my heart for all of you sisters right now. God has truly blessed our lives bringing us together under less than desirable circumstances.

I'm a Newbie to join this adventure. Now, I've got more to look forward too! Looking forward to meeting and playing!!!
-
When the time comes, Will we sign up on this forum or I think someone said something about a Facebook page?
-
It's all done here Obxflygirl... the Facebook page is for those who have attended in the past (I believe)...
-
Gbusse..... I live at Kill Devil Hills, NC. Not sure where Mooresville is....mountains?
Lilah...... Thanks for the information.
Can't wait to hear details. I haven't been into the pink stuff yet...don't know why I'm so hesitant. I think because the diagnosis still feels surreal . I have had a delayed reaction emotionally, but I am ready to let loose and be "one" with my sisters in pink..... if you girls do this in Vegas, I will get my feet wet and join right in. Time to face the music...excuse me, I mean DANCE to the music:) -
((((((Colleen))))))))
-
Obxflygirl1 - Don't worry about not being "into" pink. Not all of us are (like me)
. I'm sorry you are part of the bc club but we welcome you to our sisterhood reunion. Things are a little quite right now but that's kind of normal. It will pick up a lot once we hit the 100 day mark. In the mean time if you or any other newbies have questions please ask away! Some of us will be around here to help.
-
Terri I hope you can work it out so that you can come. We would so miss you!
-
Journey........thanks so much! I was a flight attendant with DAL and based in Atlanta at the end of my career. Born and raised in Georgia, so it's nice to connect with another Ga. Gal.
I see we have the same diagnosis and you are coming up on your 5 year celebration . Wonderful!!
Thanks again and look forward to connecting in Vegas -
Hello obxflygirl1, Mooresville is North of Charlotte but the OBX is my favorite part of the state. We tried to get there at least once a year. Could not make it last year and I am hoping I can make it this summer sometime. If I do make it this summer, hopefully I can meet you before Vegas. If you are ever in the Charlotte area or in your way to the mountains, please let me know, would love to meet you.
Hugs
G.

Obxflygirl1.....another born and raised GA girl....but have lived in Mississippi since 1985
-
Gbusse..... It would be wonderful to meet you if you come to the OBX. If you make plans to visit, please let me know and we can exchange emails . Annemarieh on the TE exchange site was supposed to be coming this summer with girlfriends and we were going to make plans to meet up. We haven't heard from her on these boards since the day before her exchange... She was headed to a city in the Northeast (chicago) that had a tremendous snow storm/blizzard coming.
We are all worried about her as she was so active on the boards right up until the exchange date.
Linda54..... Glad to cyber meet you! I miss Georgia Peaches in the summer! -
Obx - where in Georgia? I am Atlanta born and raised but have lived outside the perimeter for last 30 years. Hubby is from south GA.
-
Journey......born and raised in Macon. Mom and 3 siblings still live there and I fly down once a month to visit. My 59 year old brother came down with an autoimmune disease 6 years ago that left him paralyzed and unable to communicate. He is with mom and I visit every month for a week to give her a break.
He is very much aware of his surroundings and I spend the week worrying the crap out of him with outings, exercises, voice stimulating, etc. Mom says he sleeps all day after I leave .....I sleep all day at home too!
I'm looking forward to meeting Ta Ta sisters in Vegas. I so appreciate your wisdom, support and kindred spirits since my diagnosis.
I've had life long friends pull away since DX (really?? I'm not Contagious!). and then, well meaning but insensitive advice from others that just don't get it. And last but not least .....(Can I see them?). No, moron, you can't #*%#*% Wanna show me yours?? Call me when you've been thru DX and reconstruction and we'll share ...........no problem.
I soooooo need some sisterhood! Love to everyone, tonight! -
Obx...just sent you a PM.
-
Would any vets care to jump in and post some general "events" we have done in the past and some ideas on what to pack for the newbies? I'm short on time just now but will try to jump in as time permits. Thank you!
-
Good idea, Journey.
I was a "newbie" last year and want to put it out there...............THESE LADIES ARE TERRIFIC!! For anyone a little nervous about going to Las Vegas to meet up wtih 50+ total strangers to party, dance, drink, and celebrate life...OMG I was quite nervous, even had a back up plan with a friend who lives in Vegas, just in case. I was welcomed with open arms, open hearts and the most wonderful group of ladies in the world.
Some are heavy partiers, some are quieter and more sit back and enjoy. But ALL are good people, with big hearts and true SISTA's. You will find someone, or a group of someone's who you will just instantly click with.
My experience was:
Welcomed into the fold while checking into the hotel.
Picked up a total stranger at the airport and made an instant friend (luv you steph!!). She trusted me enough to get into my car!!!
On Friday evening we had a meet and great at one of the Strip hotel bars. Everyone had a few drinks, a little 'getting to know you' trivia game, name tags with your BC.ORG 'handle'.
Then we walked down the strip to a local club, was it the ZEBRA? We had drinks, danced, talked, danced, gambled, danced and oh, yeah, I think we danced!!!
Brunch. Menopause the musical. The Piano Bar at New York, New York, which we basically took over half the club!!! In our matching BC tops we were quite the show!!! So much fun, and a little dancing. Some of us rode the roller coaster.
Downtown, music, dinner, dancing, gambling and ZIP LINING!!!
===
I'm recommending we find a good Country Western club and do some LINE DANCING this year.

Hi my dear friends!! Ok, so a couple of months ago my dh said "no" - that he was not going to fund me going to Vegas since I still have that dreaded smoking habit.
What he doesn't know is that I am going anyways if I have to take the money out of my meager savings account. Besides that - due to finances we put "my" anniversary gift on hold for a little bit - well I am changing what I want. No longer do I want those expensive tall riding boots - instead I am going to ask for $$$$ for Vegas as this trip means more to me than anything.
Just been a little bit hard with a sudden trip to Dallas, then my dh had to head to Florida last month as his father wasn't doing so well and now on Monday I am flying to Florida to help my FIL for about 3 weeks so we have spent some $$$ that was not anticipated by any means.
I am putting my reservation in for the adjacent coffee room!!!!

First time Newbie.... Going to room with Linda54 and Journey. Excited to share space with Fellow Georgia Gals. Can someone tell me which "save the Ta Tas " I need to get? I think I saw a post somewhere in my lurking days about a black one?
I'm scheduled to have CV flap nips this coming Thursday, 4/25. Another block to check off. A little anxious about the result. As long as I don't end up with cocktail pickles, I can handle it...... -
Flygirl - you are going to have so much fun with Journey and Linda54!! What a great set of roomies for you!
The t-shirt is the Black Bling Save the TaTas - you can get either a t-shirt or a tank - at least that is what they offered last year. Note that they do run a little bit small and don't dry them in the dryer!
-
Janice... Thanks so much!... When you say offered, do you mean at the Vegas Reunion? Or on the Internet shopping? I have found them online but if purchasing from the Vegas TaTa club puts money in the BC coffers, that's what I'll do for sure.
Thanks again for your help. Are you going? -
Does anyone know what the heck is going on with http://www.savethetatas.com/ ??
I went over there to find the Viva La tata shirt for our newbies and they don't have it....don't have much of anything...something about their products to be offered from other vendors?
-
I found a site...the crystal ranch.com that has several tatas tshirts and other BC shirts.. Some with bling, some not. Don't knowif this would be something to look at......
