Slinging my leg over my husband's Harley on the first warm days of Spring sure does it for me!

Oh what a cool thing to do today. We've been playing with the idea of a three-wheeler,but arent quite brave enough yet. We havnt had a bike since 1984, when I started having kids. There is nothing like the sound of a Harley though is there? Soleil Im so glad you had a great birhtday. Our trees and flowers are really blooming now, and its just so pretty and warm. Love it, love it, love it....

Soleil, you are such a beautiful woman and the pictures are so calming and lovely! Mary, yes, the sound of those bikes when the weather warms here in New York is a sure sign of spring! I told my husband he couldn't get a bike till he turned 50, when our 3 boys would be grown. He's now 58 and we have been loving summertime on the bike for years. Last summer we rode all the way to the border of Canada!

Thank you!  The gardens were indeed beautiful.

DBLA, I used to ride all the time,  The fella I rode with , well , we broke up 6 years ago. He sent me the most beautiful birthday card. New owner said he was crying when he brought it to the counter.  Anyways, I'll never  forget that feeling.  It was just wonderful!  I hope you to ride and ride and ride all summer!  In Wisconsin we have so many back roads, lakes, little towns.  You enjoy!

    Hugs to you!

Soleil thanks for sharing your photos.  Looking at gardens and roses makes me happy, we are currently under 14+ inches of snow here:)  Your family is gorgeous and your little grandaughter is stunning!

Since we had so much snow yesterday, I broke out my knitting needles and finished this cute little fox cowl/hood that I've been knitting for my daughter.  I figured I better get on it, since this was probably (hopefully!) our last spring storm.  I love knitting on snowy days, it makes me feel happy!  I'll see if I can post a picture of my daughter wearing it!

    Soleil, the photos are beautiful.

The flowers in your garden are so pretty. I wish my garden looked half as good!

Brandall, I love the cowl! People used to tell me I had a hat fetish when my kids were small - they all had amazing things for their heads. Your daughter makes me think of that. It's a pity they're too big now, but my daughters 18. Don't think I'd get her into a cowl like that now...!

You're all so good at uploading photos. I'll have to see what I can do. This weekend my 2 sons are competing in a fencing competition. Hoping I will be able to go and take plenty of photos

Dear Soleil (somehow I always prefer it to Kathy Smile), happy belated birthday. Such wonderful pictures of your family. You look younger than your previous Avatar btw. maybe some untold plastic surgery in between those doc appts you forgot to mention to us??

Brandall, such a sweetie she is, how adorable is that? We all should share more photos, these lighted my day.

I actually opened this thread to say I just watched the movie "Just Like Heaven" feat. Reese Witherspoon, had great fun. But soooo glad I didn't miss all these great photos!

Everyone, the pics are so lovely. Does my heart good to read these things and see the joy. I took my first Harley ride a week ago thanks to a dear friend I've known since kindergarten. Won't be my last! What fun. Peace to all.

That hat is so cute!  Did you make up pattern on your own?  Your daughter is very pretty,  She looks great in that hat.  Spring must be almost into the Rockies by  now

Ditto the comments about all the awesome pics...so neat to get to see what my BCO friends look like!!

I would like to try to take up knitting -- any of you ladies knitters? If so, any recommendations as to what's the best way to learn? Don't plan on tackling anything too challenging...probably scarves for DH and kids.

Thanks for all the nice words ladies.  I just love my little girl and she is such an animal lover that the hat was a total hit with her :)

Soleil - This hat was not my pattern.  I'm an okay knitter, but I haven't tried to write any of my own patterns yet.  Not sure if I ever will :)

Marymoir - I found that going to a class at my local yarn shop was the easiest way to learn to knit.  They not only taught me how to knit, but how to fix mistakes, which was (and still is) very much needed!  I have friends who have learned to knit by watching youtube videos.  If you go that route, you will want to start with "casting on", then move on to "knit stitch" and then "purl" stitch.  Knitting is basically 2 stitches (knit and purl) done different ways.  So once you learn those two stitches you can start experimenting.  A good beginner book is called "Stitch 'n Bitch" by Debbie Stoller.  Good luck!  When you learn how to knit, then you need to go to ravelry.com and there are a TON of patterns on that site and many of them are free :)

    Brandall,

Your daughter is a real cutie! As for knitting, you all have my admiration. I lack the patience but appreciate the craft. All I've done since my dx, beside teaching 1st grade, is teach myself to do gel polish manicures. I have also added to my collection of vintage mesh purses. Selfish pursuits to be sure, but they make me happy.

Have enjoyed catching up with everyone's happy times. Love the pictures, Soleil, of your family. Your granddaughter definitely has your spirit! Oh, Brandall, what a beautiful daughter you have. Love, love the hat. Sounds like good friends and family are what we are all about (oh, and riding Harleys, LOL). I had a wonderful weekend with a friend who was visiting from Kansas. She arrived Friday and left Sunday. We had "girl" time together and then a little time with DH as well. On Sunday we went to see what was leftl of the cherry blossoms. I was actually able to do some walking around the Tidal Basin and enjoyed beautiful weather. Tuesday DH and I commemorated our 40th Anniversary with dinner out and last night went to an Orioles game. Had chemo yesterday morning so was able to sleep most of the day (benadryl nap) so was energetic for the game. In fact, I haven't been asleep since I woke up last night at 6 to go to the game. That's the decadron high .... but I did get lots of things done today. I know I will sleep tonight! Luckily I don't have to get up early. This is our weekend with my precious grandson so I am looking forward to doing whatever floats his boat! Post more pictures, folks, it brings so much joy to us and helps us to get to know each other better! Happy Weekend!
