Thanks ladies. We are VERY excited and pleased. We can see the water right across the road. It is a like a retirement community of bungalows with all the trimmings like club house, pool, sports etc and the prices are excellent. Best of all, the homes are freehold, we can do what we want and no fees to pay.

Oh Sunny - one would hope they would seek to understand rather than just knee-jerk react with assumptions and name calling. Guess I hadn't heard what Mitch McConnell was up to today, or I would be reminded it's not really about the issues...just perjoratives and ad hominem. Republicans don't care about people (other than their rich donors).... only business. The rest of them don't get that.
-
Yay for your new home Pip - sounds like excellent fun ahead.

Happy dance for Pip's new home.

Great news Pip - hope you enjoy living there.

Blue - what a pretty fairy!!
Pip - congratulations on your new home. It sounds like it must be a lovely location, too!! We are still land shopping. This weekend we are heading up to Whidbey Island to check out some possibilities..
Kam - gerrymandering of districts is just wrong - but done by both sides. I REALLY wish they'd just cut things into even lines based solely upon population density.
In regards to guns - many people have undoubtedly spent more time around gun folks than I have - but Dad, hubby, uncles, BIL's, etc. all have/had hunting rifles and shotguns in my family, as all hunt(ed) at least sporadically. None of them own handguns, none own military style guns, and none spend any time perusing gun mags. I guess what I'm saying is that generalities are just that - generalities. I'm all for additional gun laws - I think background checks across the board is a good thing. I think banning high volume clips is a good thing. I think banning assault weapons is a good thing. I think we all need to be careful about jumping to conclusions about gun owners

Just a few pictures and thoughts to share. Having storms here that have quieted for now. Wish that were going to be it, but I think more will come.
Pip.....your new home sounds peaceful and joyful and I do hope it really is heaven on earth for you.

Adding to the chorus - yey Pip!!
Blue, everything else aside, what a lovely rendition of blue you posted - also LOVED the evolution picture - lol!
I have become so cynical, so fed up with our congress and our political discourse, and so especially SICK of the pundits (they are all washed out political inbreds) that I often stay away from the news. I wish Obama would to. There is too much empty, shiftless hatred - people who are unhappy with their lot, jealous of the success of others and taking it out on using lies and defamation in the media. Our economic inequality is at near historic highs and some resentment abounds for good reason. There is something wrong in a country that appears to give more support to incompetent CEOs and their criminal acts than to needy people.
But there is something even MORE wrong when a great statesman who wishes to govern for the benefit of everyone is held in contempt by those too irresponsible to govern (eg:Mitch McConnell), too stingy to see outside of themselves (McConnell) to cowardly to mount a credible opposition (Boehner) and too intellectually shallow to care (the party of stupid and the people of stupid).

Boehner again comparing the federal budget to a family budget. Dim bulb.
-
Athena, everything you said X's two.

Athena - They don't understand the purpose of government. Maybe they need a mission statement that will help them understand things. Why do we even pay them?
-
The federal budget is not like a household budget; here's why:

Please -- tell me how someone who is completely and utterly devoid of any economic sense became Speaker of the House?

Linda, double talk and payoffs.

Okay, it's my decadron night and I haven't slept a wink. But .... I did read something like 12 pages of this thread. You all are amazing. Loved the pictures .... especially puppy and kitty pictures. Belinda, thank you for the daisy picture. Love it, love it. I even had a beagle named Daisy when I was in college. My Step-Father is one of those who is afraid Obama is going to come and take his guns. He thinks they want gun owners to register them so the government knows where to come and get them. Oh, it's hard to visit my mom. I am feeling good after chemo today. Thank you all for your good thoughts. Best wishes to you other gals who are on chemo, and getting skin cancers removed, and dealing with coughs and colds. Congratulations Pip on your new home. Sounds like a great location. It will be fun doing the kitchen just the way you want it. GG, good luck with your search. I know I am missing people and probably screwing up some facts but know that I love this thread and always enjoy catching up. I went to the beach last week, then had out of town company Friday and Saturday and grandson over the weekend as well. Monday was a me day with lunch out and Monday Merlot with a group of my friends at 4. Tuesday was an outdoor day. It was nearly 90 here. I cleaned the garage, my car inside and out, and managed to cook dinner. I had my long benadryl nap today and have been awake all night. So, I'm ready for bed after catching up here. E, thank you for your very nice words. Love you, too. Are you all settled in? Have the old house cleaned up?? How is Samson??

Glenda - sending good wishes your way.
Linda - loved the article about the national debt. How wonderful to read something intelligent.
Off to Vermont today for the weekend. Dh and I are considering selling both houses to get something we think we could stay in for retirement so we're looking at houses. Looking for something that has a bedroom on the first floor for the two of us but rooms upstairs for kids and grandkids when they visit. Stairs are becoming annoying.

((((((((((((Glenda)))))))))))))
I'm still sick - got another certificate from the doc today - might take advantage and stay home again tomorrow.
Talked to DD - she met with the shrink today and they agree with her requirements re SIL ie taking meds in front of her etc, in fact they suggested everything she had listed. They have diagnosed Schizophrenia. They have him on a higher dose of meds than he had for the past month. He had a home visit yesterday and it went OK, although she was nervous all the time. He will be staying at his Aunts to start with when he is released next week. So it all sounds ok, but she will always worry I guess.

Thank you for all the good wishes re our new home. It will be a lot of work over the next 3 months but will hopefully pay off with a wonderful summer by the water surrounded by great nieces and nephews.
I am thinking about those with medical, medicinal and family issues.
