Alexandria,
My brother promised me a cure within five years and, since he's never wrong, I'm banking on that!
Glenna and Chickadee - always in my heart and thoughts!
I have to say that Glenna looks amazing and seems to be tolerating the chemo amazingly well. She's bright-eyed, has a head full of hair, and is pretty energetic. She did the whole photo shoot for my first ride with Sampson! On top of all that, she's a lot of fun! Love you, Glenna!

(((((Stage IV pridemates)))) Beautiful to boot.
Thanks Yorkie. Will look her up and read. I am also a true crime fan.

Athena -- I read part of the article before and glad you put it in here. Not one whit surprised at the fact that no GOP'ers are showing up. Really amazing to hear Eric Cantor. He gave me good reason to think even less of him than I do the others.

I posted on my facebook page about Obama and others giving back some of their pay in response to the sequester cuts. A friend of mine said that she predicts that the conservatives start trumpeting that Obama did that because he's a socialist and he's aligning himself with the demon unions.

Jackie, here's hoping that rubber band has reached its maximum stretched capacity. I don't think the country can afford more Republican obstruction to governance. The GOP is abdicating its responsibility to country, all the while accusing others of things it hsa done in the past.
I have loads to do today and am procrastinating....off to get pictures for an amazing, adorable animal story.

There we go, Mary - didn't take the peanut gallery long to make up a story about it.

Meet Tonda the orangutan:

Tonda lived in a zoo in Panama City, FL. Her hobbies included painting and drawing. But when her long-time mate died of old age, she was grief stricken and lost interest in daily activities. That is where T.K. came in. He was paired up with Tonda to keep the grieving widow company:

The two soon became inseparable....

....even sharing Tonda's painting hobby, with T.K. said to have lent the occasional paw print to Tonda's canvasses:

T.K. made an incredible difference to the last years of Tonda's life, and a book was written about their friendship:

I always prefer nature undisturbed by humans - but some stories do take human intervention. Only then can we understand how intelligent and empathic animals are and how much they can teach us. The "moral" I take from stories such as these is how much empathy can bridge divides. I take issue with those who say "you have to be in my place to understand my situation." So often, that is simply not true. Thank goodness.

Juliaanna, love what you wrote: "The caring for each other, the nation and the world that is expressed here is nothing short of amazing." So true!
Enjoyful, what a lovely image I had when you mentioned your post dinner walk at the farm. Sounds so lovely and peaceful!
Chickadee, hoping you're still feeling ok after Monday's infusion.
Glenna, here are some more daisies for you : )
Jackie, Athena, and Blue....I always enjoy the pictures and "posters" you post.
Bren, love the photo of you and the other Brenda : )
Susie, wonderful that you're bonding and enjoying your little grandson. Hoping your SIL gets the treatment and help he needs.
To all of you amazing women who post here, hoping you all have a sunny and peaceful Friday and weekend! Warm wishes to all and everything you have going on in your incredible and diverse lives......your work, your families and friends, wedding plans for daughters, books being written, houses being bought and sold, cruises being planned, paintings being created, and on and on.....

Athena, what a wonderful, incredible story! ((((Tonda & T.K.))))

athena that is such a great story

Thanks - and welcome Patti!

SMH at Eric Cantor "absolving" himself from pay cuts comparable to what the peasants have to take. What a telling choice of words. They feel so entitled to their goodies that it doesn't even occur to them how arrogant that sounds when they are running around telling everybody else they need to sacrifice.
The right wing response to the pay cuts will no doubt look something like this. Except that they aren't this cute.

Precious story, Athena.
Welcome, Patti!
Saw this French site mentioned on one of the morning shows. Thought we all might enjoy it!

My favourite flower bouquet ever: When my second child was born it was a holiday and the flower shops were closed. Then husband took the older one (almost three then) out to the back field and they picked a bunch of daisies, buttercups, and clover. When the older one presented them to me with all the joy a little one has, I melted. Every year at that time I look at the same flowers blooming and smile.

Most of hubby's friends are republicans, so I've gotten into the habit through the years of looking up stuff when I hear statements made as if simply repeating a well-known fact. Last night one of his friends made a statement about California - that I actually thought at the time was true - which was that it was "run by liberals". I knew there were LOTS of Republicans there, as many of hubby's friends live there... Anyway, I found this interesting, and thought you lovely ladies might as well.

If 100 years is too long to consider - then consider my lifetime - since 1950 Republicans have been Governors 46 years, Dems 22. Since 1980 Republicans have been in control for 24 years - Dems 9. So when they talk about how poorly the state has been run - then they've got to pay more attention to those Republican rules they've been implementing is all I can say! I've gotta be more diligent about looking things up - even when I think what I'm hearing is accurate...
-
-
thanks for the welcome all....so glad i found this. a good start to a day!
-
OK. Trying again...
Most of hubby's friends are republicans, so I've gotten into the habit through the years of looking up stuff when I hear statements made as if it's fact. Last night one of his friends made a statement about California - that I actually thought at the time was true - which was that it was "run by liberals". I knew there were LOTS of Republicans there, as many of hubby's friends live there... Anyway, I found this interesting, and thought you lovely ladies might as well.
I had to delete the table, as all the funny "stuff" got posted too...
but here's the synopsis:
In the last 100 years, California had 1 Progressive Governor (who was a Republican when elected to his first term), 5 Democratic Governors and 12 Republican Governors. Since 1950 Republican Governors have been in control for 45 years, Democratic for 22. Since 1980 Republican Governors for 24 years, Democratic for 9. So when the Republicans start in on the "poorly run government in California" maybe they should be looking at their own policies that have been enacted...
Now I'm ready the next time I hear hubby's friend say this - of course, he'll say something different (but just as wrong, probably) the next time...

The single thing I learned the most from my little exercise is that even when I hear something that I think is accurate, I need to do research. as it may not be.

I think I'm going to the wrong horse shows.
-
Bareback riding?
-
All around. ;-)
-
Man, I think I need to re-check my horseback riding viewing preferences too. Maybe eventing is more than advertised.
-
I think it was in France. Nothing like that could happen here.
-
Good God no. We have "freedom" riding here - not that socialist, depraved "French" Old Europe type!

-
Freedom riding. Hahahahaha!
-
Possibility for a big OUCHIE! hahahahahahhahaaha!

I kept waiting for him to fall off
