Beautiful photo of our two Brendas!  Amazing ladies.  :-)

Sunny - I am on the arnica/Ben Gay treatment plan, also.  I have bad arthritis in the base of my left thumb and I've been alternating the arnica and Ben Gay.  Any other suggestions?

I am off for my post-dinner walk around the farm.  So thrilling that I can both say AND do that!

Did I tell you guys about the time my coworker had to make a visual aid for GW Bush so he could fly around in a helicopter, I mean Marine One, looking at how federal lands were burning up.  I was out of the office that day...good thing, who knows what kind of watermark that visual aid might have gotten.Foot in Mouth

Anyway, Georgie flies out from DC in the big POTUS jet, ostensibly to look at all of this destruction, but really it's just an excuse as he's on his way to meet his base, uh, I mean his elite friends for a fundraiser in SoCal.  He was in such a hurry to get there, he curtailed the most important part of the helicopter tour (so much fed $$$ and manpower went into preparing for his arrival, his itinerary, etc. - just to be wasted - SS crawling through air vents, clearing the landing field) and he never saw one stick of the federal lands he  ostensibly came to see.

Learned there are two Marine I's...do they call the other one Marine II??  They use one as a decoy.  What an expensive lesson that was.  Turns out, his base was more important to him than the taxpayers footing the bill for his trip.

Popping in briefly to wave hello after a day of helping DH cut apart the backs of two base cabinets and the wall behind them in my kitchen to repair a waste pipe leak. While we are at it and have the wall open, we will replace the shower and tub faucet set, which he has never liked. I also got the oil changed on the pickup. Tomorrow I have an upper endosocpy because I have developed heartburn. Nobody thinks it is anything except being overweight, but everybody (including DH) wants me to be on the safe side of being sure it's nothing.

We will finish the plumbing tomorrow. We just have the wall and cabinets open and the old waste line off (and capped for the night!). We will replace the tub stuff tomorrow after scoping and then put the plumbing back together. funsies! And I'm not even retired yet.

    (((((Chicky and Glenna)))))

    Enjoy your evening constitutional, E!

Kansas - ugh. (((((Yorkie))))). ETA - Kam, we cross-posted! Dumbya - double ugh. I am unsurprised that he did that. He was notorious for that kind of crap around the country. Remember the post-Katrina flyover. It continues to flabbergast me that people actually thought he gave a rat's patootie about anyone but his wealthy cronies.

Beautiful Blue.  Been sitting here moping a bit.  Read what Campbell Brown who I normally don't mind, had to say about the NRA Talking about the focus should not be on the NRA but Hollywood and the comics etc.  Well, I admit that there is a point to be made there.....I do think there is far too much daily violence and that youngsters are getting exposure way too early.  Something should be done about that, but I think it takes second place to NRA, and others of their ilk who are motivated by greed and therefore willing to look the other way on the violence that has taken place and continues at a rather heavy pace.

There are many things that need some action, but I'd like to see a better priority than she is looking at right now.  So, might as well stop moping and do something good......like raid my refrigerator.

Yorkie - it was my response the hypocrisy Cool.  So, what did you think of the trial today?  I have a slightly different viewpoint on the perp and victim after today's testimony (though only heard bits and pieces).

Kam, I am not one bit surpised by the actions of the former resident of 1600 PA Ave. I'm sure his base sees this as acceptable and would never question it. But let the current resident even consider such an action will result in outrage. I'm sure that even writing about such will result in outrage. Love the hypocrisity. Love the double standards!

I want to thank all of you for your pictures and conversation.  Being on the west coast and working until 5 or later, I come home and check here first.  You have all been so busy posting, it takes me awhile to catch up.  No matter how challenging my day has been, the stress washes away when I see the beauty that is posted here.  The caring for each other, the nation and the world that is expressed here is nothing short of amazing.

Wow, beautiful spring pictures. I especially liked the daisies .... Always my favorite flower! Yes, Kam, chemo forever. Fortunately, taxol hasn't been too bad. I'm hoping for a very long run. Having to stop a chemo, no matter the reason, is rough. I know there are new chemos being developed but there is that fear that we will run out of tools in the arsenal. I do get chemo breaks when switching, usually a month, and I do appreciate that time! Honestly, when I compare chemo now to chemo in the 1980's, I am thankful for the advances in pre-treatment that makes chemo "more tolerable", and for boosters like neulasta that help build the counts back up. They really have come a long way! I'm coming up on 5 years stage IV ... Amazing! I doubted my onc when he told me in 2008 that I could live 10 years or more with stage IV. I'm now a believer!!

Chickadee ... Glad things have been better this time around!! :)

Thanks for all the hugs and well wishes. I appreciate the friendship that is offered on this thread!

P.s. I am going to ask them to cut the Benadryl!!

Kam, my feelings haven't changed about T & J. He was kind of a jerk, but she was 1000 x worse imo. Nothing he did, certainly not real abuse, justified him being slaughtered like he was. Jodi Arias disgusts and truly horrifies me. I think Martinez started off a little poorly, continually referencing the therapist's Snow White presentation. But he didn't have enough time to make his point. That therapist is probably going to be in the hot seat for a week. Should be interesting!

Athena, there's a facebook that is decidedly pro-prosecution, but imo tells it like it is. That page is "Juan Martinez - Prosecutor Support Page." The trial is also discussed on HLN every day, with huge coverage from 6 to 10 p.m. (Central Time), and Tru TV's In Session (about 8 to 11 a.m.). If you go to the websites you can read all about it and stream videos of the trial. I've heard one book is being written right now and a movie is in the works. It will undoubtedly be the female version of "Psycho," only what Jodi Arias did to Travis Alexander was worse!

So how do republican and democratic leaders act in times of shortage? By this article, as can be expected. Here re some excerpts:

<nyt_headline type=" " version="1.0">Self-Sacrifice Is All the Rage as Federal Furloughs Loom

    <nyt_byline>

    By JEREMY W. PETERS

WASHINGTON — The rush started on Tuesday when the flush new defense secretary, Chuck Hagel, announced that he would give back a share of his salary for each day that Pentagon employees are furloughed.

On Wednesday, President Obama jumped in with his own show of solidarity by pledging to return to the Treasury 5 percent of his $400,000 salary.

By Thursday, the Obama administration’s stampede to embrace the politics of self-sacrifice was on. Cabinet secretaries practically tripped over themselves to hand over parts of their paycheck as federal workers brace for furloughs because of the across-the-board budget cuts known as the sequester.

Secretary of State John Kerry said he would give 5 percent of his $200,000 government salary to charity, and the Justice Department said that if its workers are furloughed, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. would give up his pay for however many days his workers go without a paycheck.

Of course, they can well afford it. Mr. Kerry has an estimated net worth exceeding $200 million and Mr. Hagel, Mr. Holder and Mr. Obama are all millionaires.

But by the end of the day, the merely affluent, at least by Washington standards, were lining up. Janet Napolitano, the homeland security secretary who has an estimated net worth between $93,000 and $700,000, will forgo 5 percent of her salary, her office said. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew, who is worth between $750,000 and $1.7 million, will also give up a portion of his pay, although Treasury officials would not specify how much.

All cabinet secretaries make about $200,000 a year, and the richest of them have multiple millions.

    .....

Still, not all cabinet members were giving themselves pay cuts. Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary whose estimated net worth is as high as $5 million, had no plans to reduce her salary because her department was not expecting any furloughs, her office said. A similar dynamic has slowly been playing out on Capitol Hill, where the sequester cuts will affect the budgets of Congressional offices but not members’ salaries. (Like the president and cabinet secretaries, salaries of the House and Senate are set by law.)

Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents the District of Columbia and its hundreds of thousands of federal employees, said last month that she would stop collecting her pay for each day federal employees are furloughed.

“If you’re a member of Congress, surely the notion of lead by example should not just be a slogan,” she said, adding that she would not be able to look her colleagues and constituents in the eye if she continued to collect her full salary. “You might feel a little better about seeing them in the elevator if you’re sharing in their pain.” Members of the House and Senate make $174,000 annually.

Representative Tammy Duckworth, Democrat of Illinois, has said she would give back 8.4 percent of her pay, an amount roughly equal to the cut that many domestic programs are facing.

That was not enough self-sacrifice for Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, who said he was giving up 20 percent of his pay.

Senator Mark Begich of Alaska, a Democrat who is expected to face a tough re-election race in 2014, said he would return part of his salary to the Treasury. But a call to his office to find out how much was met with a voice mail recording saying that sequester cuts had forced it to reduce office resources.

There have always been wealthy members like Senator Bob Corker, Republican of Tennessee, who sold off his successful real estate and construction businesses, and Representative Scott Rigell, Republican of Virginia, a car dealer, who donate part or all of their federal salaries.

But all this newfound altruism is forcing many others into awkward positions. The Republican leadership in the House, which has led the spare-nothing approach to budget cuts, was largely silent. Speaker John A. Boehner’s office would not say if he planned to return a portion of his pay. Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, the majority leader, indicated through a spokeswoman that he had absolved himself from a pay cut because he had sponsored a bill that would have replaced the sequester cuts, although the bill had no chance of becoming law.

    More here: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/05/us/politics/as-federal-furloughs-loom-administration-and-congressional-officials-take-pay-cuts.html?pagewanted=2&_r=0&pagewanted=print

Once again, from the GOP leadership: let them eat cake.

Now watch for the radio and blogosphere fascists to denounce Obama and other democrats for taking pay cuts.
