Marple, I was hoping someone here knew?
-
*snow geese*
Sorry wrong geese.
-
thanks teka..guess they are headed north
-
Oh neat, I've never seen a snow goose up close though they do often travel with the Canadas.
-
That looks like a Greylag goose which I have seen when we were in Europe. If I can find my DH's photo I will post it.((hugs)) Lisa hope your health is good!!
-
This first photo is of snow geese which we have seen in California.
-
Here is the Greylag Goose which I think Lisa spotted on its way up north
-
Photos on-line do look like greylag geese.
mumito, I would love to see your husband's photo.
-
Lovely photos!!
-
I wished I could have stayed longer, but the grandkids were with me and they wanted to move onward...you know the drill
-
this hummer was in my backyard a minute ago
-
these two joined me for a cup of coffee just now
-
The bottom one looks like a Phoebe. Cute, cute, cute whatever it is. What's the upper one?
-
I don't know about the first one, the bottom one is a black phoebe I think
-
I thought the upper was some form of goldfinch. Found the "Lesser Goldfinch - Western Form"
http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Lesser_Goldfinch/id
Actually the Wikipedia picture looks like yours, too. I know not the best source but ---
-
I don't know..I think it is a little bigger than the goldfinch
-
The 1st one's a Western Kingbird http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/western_kingbird/id
-
Thanks cora, sure does look like that is it..thanks
-
Here's an owl that has been hanging around Costco.
I found this ibis & 3 others in a pond at a golfcouse that recently closed. Not sure if it's a White face ibis or a Glossy ibis. Neither one is common to my area. Both occasionally show up in the Xmas bird count.
Anyone familiar with ibis's? From what I've read White face's have red legs, like this one. I don't see any white in the face
. This one is just migrating thru, I guess.
-
Looks like a glossy to me, where do you live?
-
Love the pix!
-
Along the coast, north of Santa Barbara.
-
When we were up in Alaska an eagle came within three inches of flying into my face...I didn't even see him coming..but this one was a tame one
-
what a fun encounter that must have been! I've only seen one Bald Eagle(not in captivity). This one looks like a Bald eagle but is missing the yellow beak. Quick search on the net & didn't come up with any other possibilities.
-
A juvenile bald eagle has an all black beak.
-
...but a juvenile bald eagle also has a brown head until it is four years old. I think the photo might be an African Fish Eagle, which has a white head extending down onto the chest, and a yellow beak with a black tip. The Fish Eagle isn't found in the US, but I think SoCalLisa said the bird in the photo is a captive one?
-
I just scared a frog in our little frog pond! Springtime, I see so many different types of birds drinking from the pond before Summer nesting.
-
This dove was just outside on my patio..I love the way the light catches him..
-
-
Cute pink feet!
