I am using testosterone as a hormone to help with the skin.

Hey, print out the directions for the cream and even the e-mail describing what all is useful and lay it on the table at the doctor's office and then say -- I need you to look at that and give me prescriptions for THOSE! I sorta did that -- even though mine is really a female doctor's assistant. She is really good at listening. She had never heard of Scream Cream but took it and said she'd process it to a compounding pharmacy. It was no problem -- but expensive -- small little jar for about $45.00 (my insurance didn't cover it). I have not tried Scream Cream yet. (Still chicken -- hubby and I've been out of commission for about 1 year -- so I am still "skiddish") I am using the Vitamin E compounded cream set up in little "shot" type of situation to insert each night per directions of doctor and do feel better. I am thinking it is perhaps psychological since we haven't done the "fun act" yet but at this point -- I need all the help I can get. When I see my oncologist on the 27th of this month I plan to share the information with him -- I think they need to have a part in their plan to let women know how to get passed the fear and all. Unless we speak up -- get the courage -- they won't know. We all just simply say "Oh, I am fine" on the "private part" of us -- they'll never learn. I'll post what happens.
-
Im kinda solo on this topic. So I haven't asked for this cream. But I wonder if you all could send the onc an email with the pdf? And maybe say you heard of this and what does he think, and could you plan to talk about it at your next apt? Not so scary that way. My health care has a good email system set up, and I use it to make apts and ask questions that aren't immediate. They also take calls, but if you're not in a hurry email is great. Just a thought.
-
Well, saw the ob/gyn today. Got the Scream Cream prescription. Did not get the lidocaine. Ad he is not in favor of me doing the DHEA study for at least five years. Said he didn't think I should do anything to mess with estrogen levels.
By the way, I have been calling the scream cream "Mojo Mix". I can't bring myself to say the other . -
My prescription is called, "oh baby". But I like Mojo Mix.

Actually managed to have intercourse on Valentine's Day...it's been about 2 years! This is after nightly coconut oil applications, two months of physical therapy including vaginal dilators and biofeedback and relaxation/stretching exercises, 2 pomegranate martinis and a couple of glasses of wine. And I mean it about the latter...I think it helps, for me at least! It wasn't great sex for either of us, and although there was no blood I could feel the micro-tears last night and this morning. Used aquaphor lotion afterwards and again this morning.
I'm happy for my husband, happy that there is hope...but I can't say that the act itself was pleasurable or un-painful.
-
Congrats, cfdr! I'm happy for you and your husband, although I feel for you -- after all that work and still pain and micro-tears. I'm still working on the dilators and using Replens -- I hope that will be enough. Are you using aquaphor internally, or just externally?
It's so surprising to me that we don't hear *anything* about this until it happens to us. And all the stuff we have to go through to get "it" back. I think I will definitely need the martinis and/or wine on my big night -- whenever that is!
-
I recommend Kegel exercises (I do them 3x per week.) and regular masterbation. I think it helps my vagina remember what it's there for...
Apologies if this is TMI.
-
I never thought I would be posting under this topic.
I never had any dryness issue, even after my hysterectomy. But in the last few weeks, I have had some "internal" pain during what my husband calls "extra curriculars." At first I wrote it off as weirdness but it hasn't gone away. Then I noticed in the past few days that it hurts to use TP after going to the bathroom. And I don't use the cheap stuff (Ok I admit it, I buy the cheap stuff for the kids and splurge on the nice cushy stuff for myself). So this is the Femara, correct?
I don't have any problems with the Big O, but this pain is getting annoying because it's bothering my hubby. I cannot, in a million years, imagine telling my Onc. He is so dry! I guess it's a trip to the GYN. I haven't had to see him since 2010 since he did my hyster, and since he removed my cervix, there's really no point. But he's a great guy and I know he would help me out. In fact, I called their office to get my records and he called me just to find out how I was doing.
-
Etherize, I'm using the aquaphor externally, which is where the micro-tears occur.
TAB55, my physical therapist actually warned against Kegel exercises if the problem is that the pelvic wall muscles are in spasm (which is my issue, in addition to dryness). The biofeedback exercise is similar, but is designed to reduce the spasm. I start with one good squeeze, relax completely for about 20 seconds, another squeeze at about 75% of the first, relax 20 seconds, then 50%, then 25%, then back up to 75%, 50%, 20%. I did this the first time on the biofeedback machine, and it registered that the muscles were much more relaxed by the end of this.

Would some of you that have gotten the SC as-written on the pdf please share the name of the compounding pharmacy and city/state?? I ran into problems with my local compounding pharmacy.
Grrr...my compounding pharmacy told my doctor that they couldn't make the Scream Cream exactly like the pdf, but they could make their version. So fine, let's give it a try. They called it Patton's Pleasure Cream.
I questioned the pharmacist when I picked it up what ingredients were missing. As it turns out, 3 out of 5 ingredients were not included...and they excluded the vasodialtor!
So I ended up without Scream Cream...heck, it wasn't even Squeak Cream...it was cream, and it did nothing.
So I'm trying to find a pharmacy that can make it as prescribed. Thanks for any help!

Here's my pharmacy. I faxed the Rx to them:

I started with the scream cream as soon as this thread was out! I also used the 5% lidocaine cream for the first 6 months. I can get around 2 different ways now. I can use the lidocaine cream and not have pain but no orgasm. Or I can use the scream cream without the lidocaine - no pain but I do have an orgasm! So yes....it is working.
I made sure to get my little bottle filled before our anniversary this weekend and all was successful. My oncologist is now telling all of his female patients about this miracle drug so the news is spreading around through the medical community although too slow for me - I think this is something all menopausal women should know about.
-
I used www.centralcompounding.com. It's local to me so I walked in the prescription, but I'd wager they can do mail order.
Question for those of you who have used the lidocaine cream: do you find that it numbs you so much that you are able to cause tears or abrasions that you don't feel until after the fact? My physical therapist suggested using lidocaine after, but not during, for that reason.

Wow! I almost cried reading this. I just turned 39 and just when I thought it couldn't get worse having metastasis to my bones, mainly pelvis, in 2011, sex started feeling like I was having it w a hot poker. My gyno recommended astriglide. What a joke.... Then my last onc ok'd premarin but I'm terrified to use it since the first and every warning says not to use if even your neighbor has BC. JK but ya know what I mean. I'm going to a new, caring but male onc so I think I'm giving this to the nurse practitioner... I haven't had sex w my husband in about a year thinking back. I'm on aromasin and Afinitor which make me feel like crap and I have no sex drive what so ever.

Thanks so much for sharing this.

I almost have to laugh.... I know and understand it's difficult for some women to even go in and ask their GYN for the Scream Cream. Let me share my painful story. It's tough enough to ask just one person...
I recently reunited with my ex-boyfriend; he has been very supportive. We moved back into the intimate phase of a relationship only to find things "don't work".
1. I set an appointment for the soul purpose of asking for the vaginal estrogen cream and Scream Cream; I brought in the paperwork showing what SC was and the ingriedients. So, my doctor refused to order the estrogen cream but said she would fill a DHEA cream, replens and the Scream Cream. She had never heard of the SC, but agreed.
2. A week later, I go to pick-up the prescription; the Scream Cream was not filled. I asked the Pharmacist and he said he only had the RX for the DHEA
3. So, stunned, I go home. Finally, I get up the nerve again and I call my Docto'rs nurse and ask her to fill the RX and I gave her the name and number of the very experienced Compounding Pharmacy in Woodland Hills.
4. I called the Pharmacy to let them know an RX was on the way. Of all the people I spoke with, Steve, the Pharmacist, was by far the very easiest.
5. The nurse calls back and says the doctor won't fill the SC RX because she does not know how it will interact with the DHEA (I never asked for the DHEA).
6. I call the Pharmacist again and tell him the RX request won't be coming in. Steve was very helpful, explained their were no hormones in SC and there should not be an issue. I asked if I could have my doctor call him.
7. I call back Nancy the nurse and ask her to please have the doctor call the pharmacist; he will explain their are no issues with the SC.
So, here I am, with no SC, no Estrogen cream.
Hopefully my GYN will call the Pharmacist and place the order. I am very frustrated and upset that this has to be so difficult. And then, I laugh.....I don't have to ask one doctor, one time, I am already at conversation #7 (total 4 people). So, a little incentive to the ladies who wish to ask one time, once is nothing! I've not heard of any one else having to go through these hurdles.
-
Summer Girl - I went through somewhat the same scenario. My male oncologist said ok - but he didn't know how to write it up - he didn't think writing "scream cream" would work. So he asked me to go to the compounding pharmacy with the print out and ask them to fax an approval for him to sign.
Yep, I get the courage up once again and go to the compounding pharmacy where there are males and females working behind the counter. Who do I get? A hunk of a male - young in age and I am thinking "oh crap!" but I asked him anyways because by then I had lost 2 years of my sex life and I wanted it back and NOTHING.ELSE.WORKED!
After ordering the ingredients, the compounding pharmacy was able to get it to me in 7 days. That was a long 7 days of waiting in anticipation.
They must be keeping the ingredients on file because now it takes less than 24 hours to get a refill! I just wish I could get more for the money.
-
This happened after I had already been sent to a gynecologist for this issue and then a urologist - so it was months from the time I first heard about it until I could actually get the SC.
-
Wow! It's crazy that we have to go through so much to keep our sex lives! I don't think men have all these problems when they want viagra...
Hang in there. It's worth the trouble to get the scream cream.
-
Thank you so much. It's just funny, of all the people I've spoken with, the male Pharmacist was the easiest. He was telling me they are tweaking the proportion of the ingriedients so they scream works for every woman. He said it is a tougher RX than it is for men. He made me feel like we were talking about the ingriedients for a chocolate cake, not a sexual cream. What a great guy. I think you all have your Pharmacys but if not, Woodland Hills Compounding Pharmacy, Steve, was great.
My GYN said no because she wasn't sure how it would mix with the DHEA. Doesn't it make more sense that she should have said, I need time to research to make sure it's safe, rather that a big NO. Well, we will see if she accepts my request to speak with the Pharmacist. If not, I will ask my Oncologist.
-
I'm not familiar with DHEA cream. Wouldn't that also be a problem if you are PR+?
-
The doctor claims the small amount of DHEA cream won't be an issue. I received a phone call back from the doctor; she wishes to discuss my request for the SC with me. Yay (sarcastic), just what I wanted, yet another discussion on this very private topic.
It is interesting, they prescribe the controversial item, the DHEA, but won't give me an RX for the non-controversial SC.
-
I was reading through the posts and see various prices for the Scream Cream. I realize the Pharmacy I was going to use seems more expensive than others listed here; $70 for 15 grams + $10 to mail. And, even though I requested SC, the ingriedients my Pharmacy has listed is different than those on the PDF you Happy!! ladies have shared.
I see two Pharmacys CPR and Central Compounding listed in the thread here; can you tell me the cost you are paying for what amount. I assume both will mail the RX.
-
I got mine at Central Compounding for $46.
-
Mine was only $5.84 from Compound Pharmaceutical Technologies. (What a deal!) I think my BCBS insurance covered part of it because it was prescribed by my RO.
-
Thank you so much, I finally got the prescription authorized and it's being filled at Compounding Pharmaceutical. Mine is covered by insurance except for a small co-pay.
Getting this authorized was not easy; I had far more conversations on this topic than I ever would have liked, but I think it will be worth it. Despite my in-ofice visit and two phone conversations, my female GYN (about age 45) would not fill the RX for the SC; they stated they were afraid using it could leave room for damage during intercourse. I tried to let them no that no one has had this problem, but they seemed dead set against it.
My Oncologist filled the RX.

Thank you so much for contributing to this thread ladies! I'm a newbie here. Just started having super uncomfortable intercourse a few weeks ago. It reminds me of my early sex life when I was 16 (yes, I was an early adopter) ~ very raw and somewhat painful. I'm startng Tamoxifen in a few weeks and anticipate that this may get worse, not better.
I've never heard of this "scream cream" you are all talking about. Does anyone have the list of ingredients? I see a naturopath and I'm sure she'd be happy to write a script to her compounding pharmacist but I'm not sure if she knows what's in it. My cancer was ER+/PR and HR2-. Is this cream okay for ER+ cancers??
THX
-
Nicole, it might not get worse with Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen causes vaginal discharge, so we don't dry up the same as using an AI. Here's the link to the scream cream ingredients. You can e-mail or print the pdf for your oncologist. It definitely works for me. Good luck!
-
And I forgot to mention there are no hormones in the cream so it's OK for ER/PR+ types like us.
