I am too scared to ask for something like that.  I take Vagifem 2x/week and a little dab of Estrace between doses.  The Onc. and Gyno. assure me that the amount of estrogen in them is not harmful to me.  I was on the Femring but kept getting yeast infections.  If I remember to take the Vagifem regularly, it does seem to work, and it has been getting less painful.

I'm new here though not new to cancer but I have only realized lately that my sexual secrets are the same as most every one else's here. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone but also so sad that any of us have to deal with it. My husband who is so incredibly wonderful to me and the very best at taking care of me has a very high sex drive and of course, I have none and it's waaaaaay too painful to get involved with. If my husband wasn't such a good guy I wouldn't worry about this issue but since he is, I do. I manage to take care of him 3-4 times a week without intercourse but I do miss it. I'm going to try the Scream Cream/lidocaine combo in hopes of bringing intercourse back to our relationship. Thank you for sharing this info.

My doc has it on a script form listed as "O-gel".  It is the same ingredients as listed in scream cream.

I see an integrative MD in addition to my conventional team. When I called his office, they recognized the name immediately and ordered it for me from a compound pharmacy called Central Pharmacy in La Habra, CA. Don't know why they didn't use a compound pharmacy here in Indiana, but didn't matter cuz it arrived in the mail 3 days after my call to the doc's office.



And YES, it DOES work!!!! Thank the Lord for these boards!!!!

The integrative MD I see is actually in Fishers, though...Dr. Steven Elliott at Living with Intention. Actually started seeing him prior to my recurrence....he dxed me with both Vitamin D and iodine deficiency (both of which, ironically, are associated with increased risk of BC!). Highly recommend him!!

I'll check it out! I'm in Greenwood. I saw Ann cheger at Integrative Health Specialists to start HRT on the exact day that I had my mammogram that went to hell in a hand basket.



Talked to her a couple times since. She id'd my vitamin d deficiency as well as confirmed I wasn't in menopause at almost 56.



I just emailed them about IV vitamin c but they have to have my oncologists ok. Saw him today and he doesn't think it is a good idea.aa

I don't know if this product has been mentioned, but here's something I ran across today:

They are palm oil/coconut oil/Vitamin E inserts that have gotten rave reviews on Amazon.  Much cheaper than Replens, which I've been using religiously.  

Unfortunately, if like me, you need to use condoms, you shouldn't use oil-based products because they can break down the latex.

I had such a problem with atrophy, pain, inflammation, low (and by "low" I mean "no") libido, etc. that I had less and less intercourse, which of course made everything worse.  Had to get dilators, and now after months I am finally ready to graduate to the last, biggest dilator.  With regular use of that and gallons of Replens I hope to get back to my long-suffering and ever so patient husband.

I want to thank you all for your honesty and sharing on this topic, and letting us that are not Stage IV chime in on your thread. I found this the day before I was going to see my Gyn. I have been miserable since chemo...the heart is willing but the body keeps saying "uh, nope, not going to make it comfortable for you."

I thought there was no way I could broach it with my Gyn, so thought I would test the waters with the nurse to see if she had heard of it. She hadn't. But evidently she said something to him before he came in to see me, because after we talked about other things he kept asking "so what's going on with you" until I spit it out.

I was shocked, but he had heard of it, and prescribed it many times before. (Yeah, so why not for me?) He is calling the local compounding pharmacy to see if can be done there, but also said that he knows it can be ordered from a compounding pharmacy in Hazelton, PA.

You could have knocked me over with a feather, but I am sure glad I brought it up. I'll report in later when I get it.

Found you guys -- have just picked up my order -- hoping to get the courage to try it in a few days.  Husband will be happy if I can get past the stress of the last time -- about 1.5 years ago -- when it was painful.  Thanks for the posting!  :0

Thanks for posting this ladies.  I started Femara just about 10 weeks ago.  After reading all this I want to stop the atrophy from starting.  Things are getting a bit uncomfortable so at my well woman check up today I took the SC recipe.  The NP was not comfortable with it so referred me to the onc who I see again in June.  I have 4 months to get my courage up to talk about this to a guy.  Knowing him, he will not do it, super conservative guy.  Maybe if I cry??  LOL!

Have not used my "stuff" yet -- but wanted to let yall know that my gynecologist just phoned me to state that my pap smear didn't show anything.  "In other words, they need me to use the Vitamin E cream" daily for 12 weeks and hold off 2 nights and then come in and have another pap smear done.  Soooooooooooooo, I guess I'll start it tonight.  But for those of you who are on anti-estrogen medication -- be aware.  At least I know my Arimidex is working across the board -- but it just means the rest of my body is going to the crapper!
