Hi Tammy, I hope you had a better day today. Some days you have to eat what makes you feel good, you deserve it. You have been through so much.
Rocket, pizza is my "make me feel better " food too. I hope your feeling better. You have so much going on, I hope all goes smooth with your mom's move. It can be so difficult dealing with problems as our parents age. I had delt with that for a number of years so I sympathize with you. Hang in there!
Jaytee, I'm with you with this winter crap!! Enough! I hope we don't get more snow. Hope your enjoying having your DD home. I miss exercising with mine. We have had some laughs with the belly dancing video as we tried to do it! Hope you had a good day!
Hi Kindergarten, I love the idea of coming to visit you & have a My Name is get together.
I did the treadmill today & ate well until I went a Beautification Meeting tonight & had a mini cupcake & shamrock cookie. Terrible will power....oh well....
Have a great evening everyone. -
Off to work....have a great day ladies!!! Lots of water, green tea & positive thoughts!!
((((Hugs)))) -
Have a good day at work, tenaj! We have some sun today---hope you are getting some up there too.
Didn't have my usual healthy breakfast today. DD wanted to learn how to make cinnamon rolls--we made them up last night, let them rise in the fridge and baked them this morning. Cinnamon is a heavenly spice!!! I indulged and ate a couple with my coffee. Luckily she took most of them with her this morning. There is this certain young man.......a little bit of that 'way to the heart through the stomach' thing going on!
The zumba dvd is in at the library....going to pick it up today and will definitely need to try it right out as soon as I can. Also going to go into work for a few hours today and if I leave early enough might be able to get a walk in before I have to be there. Take care everybody and thinking of you all today!
-
Good morning, Everyone!!! Tenaj, you were so good, only one cupcake and one cookie, I would have eaten many more!!! Hugs and positive thoughts to you as we'll!!!
Jaytee, cinnamon rolls are my favorite!!! Putting them together burns off calories, truly!! How fun that you and your daughter had a baking day!! Priceless!! Have fun with your Zumba DVD!!!!
Rocket, please keep us posted, please know you are in our thoughts and pvrayers! -
I am going completely nuts. The realty agent for the assisted living facility requested five more things from me to verify her financial eligibility which they hadn't told me about previously. I have had two hours of sleep and am really wiped out, but I have been bugging these people to death to complete this eligibility. Please continue to pray for me and my Mom. Thanks so much!
-
Jaytee, I love cinnamon rolls too. I confess when we had the blizzard I baked a batch. Mmmmmmmm. I did share with the neighbors. I could have eaten it all by myself.I even looked up a recipe for Cinnabon icing, (like I needed to add cream cheese to my indulgence).....oh well....that's why I went backwards while I was recouperating. I'm still trying to get back to pre surgery weight. I hate those #'s! But I am working hard now to be successful. I ate we'll today,Yay!!! I vacummed & danced around with some light weights while I was blasting some music. Just relaxing with a cup of green tea & saying hello to my friends.
)
Have a great evening! -
Rocket, you are in my prayers & daily happy thoughts!!
That goes for all you special ladies too! -
Thinking of you and your Mom rocket. I went through this with my Mom a couple of years ago and it is a very hard time....
Eating better the past few days and I've completed week 3 of my running program!
Healthy eating everyone! -
Thank you ladies so much for praying for me and Mom. Yesterday late afternoon she was qualified financially for the assisted living facility in Maine. It was a very long arduous process. We packed all her belongings yesterday and are shipping them out this morning. We also purchased our plane tickets and will leave on March 25th. My sister and I will return on March 30th. I am happy that my Mom will be going to a place where she has three sons to look after her, and we can afford the facility. She will also have the services she needs. Please continue to pray for us over the next two weeks that the trip will not be too difficult for Mom, and that things will go smoothly transitioning her to her new apartment.
I ate terribly yesterday. I was a complete stress case. Today I am doing much better. When I get back home I am taking charge of my exercise and eating in a whole new way. My doctor prescribed a statin drug which I will begin when I get home too. Hopefully it will get my cholesterol under control. Thank you ladies for all of the support and encouragement, but most especially for your prayers. -
Great news about your mom's financial issue!! I pray that everything else falls into place as well for your dear Mom!!
I had a terrible eating day as well, but onward and forward!! It is so hard to stay focused when we have stressful situations. Take care everyone!!!! -
Hi, wonderful Ladies!!! Even though I had a bad eating week, I did lose .4 lbs, not as much as I would like, but no gain. I am better focused this week. I did my morning elyptical and stationary bike!!! Exercise really helps, and if I can stay away from bread, I know I can lose more!!! I am going to do it, with your inspiration and motivation!!! Hugs and Blessings, Kathy Rocket, please keep us posted!!!
-
May I ask you all a personal question!! Please pm me if you wish or don't even answer!! I so respect that. Is anyone here taking an antidepressant and how do you like it? I have not taken one for awhile, but I am thinking I might need one again. I don't like them, because they make me gain weight and don't work after awhile. I took Lexapro when I was going through treatment and then stopped. Yikes, the exercise is not raising my endomorphins enough. I just need some advice on this I also know that taking aromosin can cause some depression, and I went off it and then back on it. Thanks so much for your consideration in this matter. Hugs and Blessings, Kathy
-
Kathy - no antidepressants for me, sorry I'm no help there.
Hi everyone else!
Last week I was down again, finally. This weekend we were at a soccer tournament and I reffed 2 games (one each day). So I got a fair amount of exercise. I can hardly wait for spring break to arrive at the end of this week. We don't even have any set plans, but just not having to go to work sounds so wonderful to me.
Hugs to you all.
-
Wow, CookieMonster, that is great that you never needed them!!! I do not want to take them ever again either, just needed some advice, thanks, Tenaj and Rocket thank you so much for your very kind private messages!!! I think I will stick to exercise!!!! Hugs and Blessings
-
Kathy, I haven't used antidepressants either so I can't help....
I got home late the other night but still decided to eat before heading off to belly dancing....bad mistake....it was the night we were learning"belly rolls"!
Good to read about some great results out there....keep up the exercise -
Thank you everyone, I have definitely decided to not use the antidepressants and stick with exercise, prayer and good nutrition. I just needed confirmation on that. According to my scale here, I am down a 1lb, but weigh in on Friday will hopefully confirm that. Hugs to you all!!!!! Kathy
-
Kathy you are doing so great! Congrats!
I haven't been able to do the treadmill for a few days cause I'm having some hip pain. Trying not to aggravate it. Eating mostly well, just can't seem to get away from my afternoon tea & snack. I may be down a bit, wish I was doing better. This tamoxifen isn't helping either! Today is spring but you would never know it by here. It was freezing & windy today. Tomorrow more snow! I want to get outside & ride my bike & work on the yard. Maybe next week it will warm up.
Have a good evening all! Keep up with the exercising, lots of water & green tea. Most of all try to have fun doing it! -
Kathy you really are doing so well! I'm so happy for you.
Hey all you lovely ladies! I'm still having a lot of swelling in my foot. I have been on it too much, but after the end of the month when Mom is safely in her new facility I plan on getting my life back and my foot back into therapy. I just can't wait to get home! I'm pretty worn out. I did make a healthy vegetable soup tonight for dinner along with a salad. I had salad for lunch too. I could eat salad every single day and never get tired of it.
Hope you all are well. Thinking of you...... -
Dear Tenaj, sorry about your hip pain, hopefully it will get better soon!!! Once your weather improves, you can get out and walk a little!!! Thank you for the reminder of the tea, I Just made a cup!! Rocket, You will get your mom settled, and she will love her new place!! You will have piece of mind, your foot will heal and blessings will flow for you!!! I love salad too!! I was at a luncheon today, and the salad they served was so delicious and low in calories! It had Kale, cranberries, grapes, mandarin oranges, pumpkin seeds and walnuts!! I even skipped the dessert, he,he,he!!!!!
-
Kathy, that sounds like a great salad, I love salads with lots of fruit and nuts....one of my favourites is an Italian style fig, prosciutto, rocket and walnut...mmmmm!
Rocket, take it easy, you are going through a difficult time, glad to read that you are eating well...
Tenaj, sorry to hear about the hip, best to take it easy now so you'll be better in the long term.....
CookieMonster, spring break sounds great.... -
Hi everyone, thanks for the hip support! It's feeling a bit better but I haven't done the treadmill in almost a week. I've been eating very well this week, lots of nice salads for me too. I never knew how good orange & craisins were in a salad. I guess your never too old to keep learning different tastes. I know this weekend won't be great with the eating. My children are coming home for a weekend visit & have lots of food requests. I'll do my best, I'll try to have smaller portions.
Tammy, refresh my crappy memory...sorry, you take belly dancing classes? Is it at a dance studio or adult education type of class. It sounds found :-)
Rocket, I am thinking of you & praying your feeling better & getting thru this move with your mom.
Kindergarten, how have you been doing? Good luck at WW tomorrow!!
Hi Jaytee, miss your encouraging supportive posts. Hope all is well.
Enjoy your spring break CookieMonster!
Hi ATeamNana....miss you too.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Stay strong, happy & motivated to loose!! -
Good Morning Ladies,
I got some sleep last night after several meltdowns yesterday. I was so weary. I ate terribly yesterday - had my comfort food, pizza. Today I have new resolve. I ate my oatmeal this morning with prunes for bone health. I'm going to luxuriate in the tub and soak my foot to give it a jump start to the day. I'm going to do laundry for my sister and eat a healthy lunch of homemade split pea soup. There now I've committed myself.
Two more days and we fly Mom to Maine. Three years ago my sister and I took her on a cruise. It was difficult traveling with her then. She is three years older now, 88, and I anticipate a lot more difficulty. I pray all goes well. She will be completely exhausted after traveling all day, and then I'll have to get her up a flight of stairs to go to bed. We have to get her at 7:30 am to get to the airport by 9:30 am and then fly and have layovers all day (no direct flights), and then reach our destination airport at 5:30 pm and drive another hour to my brother's house. It will be grueling. She will be pushed in a transfer chair, but it will still be a very long, difficult day for her, my sister and me. The next day she will have her needs-based assessment. Prayers are welcome!
Thinking of all you sweet ladies today and hope your day is filled with blessings. -
Hi, Tenaj, How are you, well I did not gain or lose today, darn!!! But I did have fun eating this week!!! I will just keep at it this week and eat a little better. I think I have the exercise down, which kept me from gaining, but no excuses. I have to let go of the bread and not eat late at night. Please enjoy your family this weekend and have fun!
Rocket, I wish you safe travel with your sister and mom!!! Please also rest and take care of yourself. Hugs and Blessings!!!
-
Hello everyone....kindergarten..why does bread have to be so good! I love it too and know how you feel. You just keep on keeping on...next week will be better. It still is a good thing that you didn't gain!
Its been a rough week here. Terrible weather...so cold, but the sun did come out today. A fellow bc friend that I sometimes walk with called today and asked if I was up for even a 30 minute walk. That was the incentive I needed and we really almost walked an hour. It was good....first time I had been out this week. We have snow coming on Sunday night into Monday and they are saying 4-6 inches, hope they get that wrong again. I think that its not really March here at all and we are stuck in Feb.! Sounds like your weather has been similar, tenaj....I hope that we get past this and spring really comes! I wish you a good weekend with your family too!
We had an unexpected death in the family....a favorite Aunt. She lives too far away for us to attend her memorial service and I feel so sad about that...she and her friends and Bible study ladies prayed so much for me when I was having my treatments. I will miss her so much. My Dad and his brother are now the only siblings left from a family of 10 children.
Rocket...I hope that all will go well with your Mother's move. We are kind of in a similar situation..my Dad has been in an assisted living facility near my sisters house and we are thinking of moving him back up here. He lived here before he had a bad accident but has been near my other sister who is an LPN. There is a nice place here....and he and my sister visited it with me this week. Its homey and cheery and feels comfortable, but he has not really said outright that he wants to come back up here and that is what I would like to hear. It will be an adjustment for him...the accident he had, left him with a brain injury and that makes it even harder to make changes. He has come a long way since it happened...took him such a long time to realize how badly he had been hurt. My sister had been talking to some people about brain injury back in 2010 and they said he should be where most of his memories are...but that same week I had found the lump and everything fell apart for me up here. We just couldn't do it then.
Tammy...Cookie..everyone....I hope that you will all have a good weekend. Havent been here much this week but always think of you all!
-
Dear Jaytee, I am so sorry to hear about your dear Aunt!! Aunts are such special people in our lives! She is now your angel smiling down at you. May you cherish all the wonderful memories! Blessings, Kathy
-
Thank you kindergarten. She was a lovely lady...She loved to cook so guess what we liked to talk about when she would call...of course, food! Even though she lived so far away, it was nice to talk to her often. She was sort of a substitute Mom for me and my sisters after we lost our Mom. She did not have any children of her own,but she would have been a great mom. I am glad to have the good memories.
-
Tenaj, I've been doing belly dancing for about 8 weeks now. It is an adult education class and the group of 10 lovely ladies ranges in ages from about 18 to 60+. Everyone just works at their own pace and we have fun. I didn't feel like going last week as I was a little down and my friend can't attend anymore but I motivated myself to go and felt great afterwards.....
Rocket, the trip sounds gruelling for anyone. Airports are huge to get around. Wishing you a safe trip....
Jaytee, sorry to hear about your aunt, she will know your prayers are with her. I can identify with your difficulties with your Dad. I have a brother with a brain injury who is in a home. After our Mom passed I became his primary carer but I've been neglecting him since my diagnosis and I do feel guilty. The home is over an hour from where I live so my visits aren't as frequent as I'd like. I am seeing him tomorrow so that's good.
Kathy, keep up the motivation! -
Good morning Tammy.....yes it is a difficult and frustrating path for them especially and for us too. Take care and have a good visit with your brother this weekend. Jaytee
-
Dearest Tammy, Jaytee, Rocket, CookieMonster and Tenaj, You are all my heroes as you are all taking care of others as you are dealing with your own health issues. Prayers are coming your way!!! Be kind to yourselves!!!! Hugs and Blessings, Kathy
-
Hello ladies...I know I have not been on here in such a long time...decided i needed to check in.
So, Hi everyone... I will try to check back in more often. I have had some health issues but I am doing so much better now. I did lose about 10 pounds but not really by choice..I was unable to swallow food and had soup and instant breakfast for over three weeks. Had to have esophogus stretched..I have Schatzki's Ring..I had never even heard of it. It forms a ring around your esphogus and makes it difficult to swallow. Wow I feel so much better and even though I liked the weight loss..it sure was not a fun way to do it.. My fear is now that I am able to eat normally now I will put it all back on:(
Thanks for all the nice posts saying HI to me..
I am glad it will hopefully be nicer weather soon so I can get some walking in to help keep off the weight I have lost.
Hope everyone is doing well. ATeamNan
