Thinking Out Loud.....

The house I live in now was completely redone....sold a home to move behind my son who owned a gorgeous home in the same town.....the house was completely redone...I will make this part short....after 5 years he decided he had to sell the house I was living in....(not true, but that is another story)......said he would find another place, be do the same deal.....said no thanks, I'll take the next place, but I am buying it...no more deals.....well it was a dump, he began to fix it......shit the bed.....and another son took over.....now the good part...
The finished product is gorgeous.....he took down all the walls and made it a straight through.....outside is all brick, new windows, siding(where it was needed), front door and storm door, new flagstone patio, open front porch with an overhang, and vinyl railings, and completely landscaped........inside...every wall is brand new...new heat, A/C thermal water heater, plumbing, electrical wiring and painted top to bottom........massive kitchen with all new cabinets, appliances, and granite countertops, breakfast room that looks out to a huge backyard, which has a stream behind it, and the woods, family room with a vaulted ceiling, and all windows that also overlook the yard, all stone tile bathroom, with a walkin shower, with a bench, and body sprays, and overhead "rain shower", jacuzzi tub, and granite vanity....powder room, dining room, bedroom, and living room.....all hardwood floors...my washer and dryer are behind doors, with a place to hang clothes, and a pantry complete with shelves for storage...it is 1,700 sq feet......the son who did all the work is 20 minutes away..the others 5o10......the stores are 5 minutes away, and the malls 15.....,.my Dr's are 15 minutes away too, also the hospital.......I had 38 people here for xmas, and no one was in anyone's way.........
I have been here 2 years, and am glad to be here......my son made sure it got done...I also had my son-in-law doing a lot too.....thank heavens..... -
Sounds perfect Ducky!!
That would be my luck, go to Red Lobster and they don't have lobster!!
-
Sheila??????
-
SHEILA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you are out enjoying this warm weather!
-
It is perfect Linda, just the circumstances that got me here was not, and who wants to move 5 years since you last moved....it was just horrible at 76 years old....by then you should be pretty much ready to make the final move.....it was awful, an if not for the 1 son handling everything God knows what would have happened........plus I had to pay for the. house, and fixing it (and did go overboard)......and only an optimist would give a 76 year old woman a mortgage, so had to get a HELOC, and I had to show them everything but my colored undies to get that and had to use the shore house as collaterol. The one good thing the one who shit the bed did get the house for a song......$100,000 for a house on a $190,000 street......but it took close to $100,000 to fix it, but it is probably worth now $275,000..........but who needs that bullshit at that age.......was only here a year when I got the BC dx......and so it goes.....
Gorgeous here today....bet it hits 70 degrees...... -
Ducky, did you tell them how many pair of undies you have, lol!!
-
Hey...that is how I got the loan......I got a letter that said
Dear Customer.......if you can afford to own that many pairs of undies, you certainly can qualify for the loan, but we still need to know what color your wearing today.... -
HAHA!!! Ducky, you are hysterical!
Hi Ray!
Still searching for Sheila.
-
I'm here........
-
Ray...i really want some of those enchiledas
We have a family operated Mexican Restaurant in the corner and they do deliver........
-
Do they deliver margaritas? I could use a margarita...
you are too funny about the undies.
-
A Red Lobster that doesn't serve lobster...oh, the irony...
-
lol, don't like mexican and don't drink wish I did, that would work, maybe I should do drugs, all of them would help deal with these kids, lol....anyway
Ducky is right, where she lives is awesome.....oh and my ex husband got married for he 4th time, (I have #2) his wife bought a house (not with him he refused to be on the mortgage) with her mother who is 86, WTF gives a mortgage to an 80 something person, well in New Jersey they do, oh and that was just a couple of months ago...they got her out of an apt or an nursing home or something and moved them in with them, whatever....we are still friends, but not allowed to be b/c of the new wifey...lol
anyway we will see what happens tomorrow, love Red Lobster and time to spend with oldest daughter just me and her, she is the 1 that didn't talk to anybody for 6 years.....she has been back with us for a year..
So much friggin drama with the girls, will tell you, lol.....
How is everybody? Snowed in?
-
Glad your DD is back in your life, Sandy. Hope you have a great time and that they have lobster if you want some.
It's amazing how the snow compacted and melted since yesterday. I bet Linda is still buried, though... Interesting how the snow totals varied. Hope it's the last snow we get. I like snow as long as it doesn't cause any problems... If it's going to be cold anyway, there might as well be some snow. But once it gets close to spring, I want the warm weather.
I was looking out at the snow and noticed what was left of our forsythia. We had the kind that spread - not the nice stays-in-one-place kind (didn't know there was more than one kind when we bought it). Had "D"H rip out the mess - after the tree-killing snow we had in Oct of '11, one was kind of mushed - so I thought we'd get rid of the 2 we had and plant 2 new nice ones. Well, he had trouble getting one of them out of the ground, so guess what - it's still there - a mess. So, on the one hand, I will still have some yellow flowers to enjoy on the part that is still there, but on the other hand...why is everything in my life torn up and not finished? I kind of don't care anymore. i don't have the energy. but I can't stand living in this mess either. Sorry I'm complaining again... I think I'm PMSing.
(hence the need for the margarita)
-
-
well, no margarita, but I finished off the Malibu rum and now I'm going to start on the regular rum...
I think I'll sing....lalalalalalalalalalalalalala!!!!!!!

lalalalalala!!!!!!!!!!!! I drank rum tonight when I went out. Got a Barbados Rum drink. It was freaking awesome!
-
Have you tried a Dark and Stormy? Nick introduced me to that cocktail when we were in Bermuda.
It is made with Goslings Black Seal Rum. Delish
-
The Dark & Stormy embodies two great tastes of the tropics that and is darker than most tropical drinks, but is just as refreshing. This classic highball is a brand-specific mixed drink that is a completely, some would say wrong, taste if anything other than Gosling's Black Seal rum and Barritt's ginger beer. Some bartenders will add lime juice to the drink, but the addition of citrus is unnecessary and can be overbearing.

Deb...I love your pictures...
Ray....I like it mildly spicy....not like you turn red when you take a bite......
My tummy is better today no burning...but i need to see a DR...I know it's temporary......
Chris...more than 4 months...do I need a dirty mind?
All the snow melted.....
I sing with you all....lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaa
-
MY DH likes Dark and Stormies. I like Black Seal rum. I HATE beer!
Good to hear from you Sheila! I still have about 2 feet of snow here. Can't wait to see my grass!
-
I'm very uneducated when it comes to drinks
I know beer and white or red wine.......
I didn't see sam for a long time...i should go looking for him
-
Linda...DSD posted some pink drink on FB
Go look at it and tell me what it is.......it looks so yummy
-
I was drinking plain Bacardi...will have to keep Dark and Stormy in mind for next time...
Yes, dirty mind... it's dirty only in my mind these days..
sorry, just feeling sorry for myself....
-
Linda, has the meltdown begun? I hope so! About my bathroom...have not picked out the stuff but we are taking out everything. I want a walk in shower with glass doors but prefer not sliders. Trouble is, bathroom i kind of small for doors that swing open. Your master bath sounds really regal! I am so afraid of color...will probably do neutral textured tiles. I have a master bath that needs to be redone...but DH wants to do one thing at a time. I want it all done at once.
Chris, I feel where you're at...with 6 kids spread out, I have had a kid in college for most years between 1986 and 2012. I still have no idea how we got through that time. My house had no work done to it, and it is now over 20 yrs old too...needs everything. I started working full time in 2004 and now finallythere are a few choices.
Ducky, your home sounds perfect for you. I love when everything is done! Can I borrow DS for a few months?
Deb, love the cave! My ex-SIL would order a dark and stormy when we would go to lunch.
Today was my wedding anniversary...we ended up staying close to home...I slept in, then looked at cars on line. Then lunch, then a hike on the beach to see the storm damage and the seals. It was a beautiful day. We went to dinner and my DDs found out and paid ahead for us at the restaurant. Nice surprise! Am sleepy from a little wine and champagne...will probably go to bed earlier tonight.
I seem to be writing "books" lately, so I'll just say
goodnight ToL
Joan -
Congratulations Joan...And i love your books.....
I'm going under my blanket and put some socks on.......
Now I'm very cold...
Good Night TOL
-
Happy Anniverysary! I'm so happy when I hear about people who are in happy marriages. Makes me feel like there is hope for DD. I would be okay with the crappy house during college years if I had a decent marriage to hang onto...
