Hi,

I'm just wondering what kind of scan did you get after being diagnosed with BC. I had a CT scan after my BMX and it came out clear. I'm just worried because most of the women from my support group got a PET scan. Will or did any of you have another scan after your treatments?

GCE, I had a CT of head, chest and belly. Then I had a bone scan, and a follow-up MRI of my liver (came back clean) and a surgical biopsy. This was prior to surgery, to make sure the buggers had not spread and to plan treatment. I also had a heart ultrasound to make sure my heart was strong enough for the chemo.

I got the same scans a year after surgery and will have them on the second anniversary as well. If I am still OK by then, we will drop down to an annual chest X-ray and liver ultrasound.

After surgery I had a CT scan of torso, a bone scan and a head MRI. No other scans.

GCE, my insurance determined if and when I could get a PET scan.

Thanks for responding. I guess I'm second guessing the results of my CT scan. I can't seem to have a peace of mind. It's so hard not to worry about every pain.

When scanned, my onc has always order a combination PET and CT. He thinks each has its merits.

My insurance paid for a PET/CT right after my diagnosis, for staging purposes.  They would not pay for another one after neo-adjuvant treatment.   They have paid for CT scans (chest and abdomen) and bone scans since the end of treatment to investigate various aches and pains.
