Don't know any Girl Scouts this year. Probably best!
Sheila, I have 4 spears of AG peeping out of the ground! Told Dh we won't start harvesting until we get a dozen or so of the same size.
Spent yesterday in the front yard working and the afternoon today getting some of my Greenhouse cleaned up.
Got the baby quilt ready to machine quilt then realized I don't have the correct color of thread.
Have an appointment for my annual physical tomorrow. I could care less about that, but hope she can do something more for the cough I still have. Then I have an appointment with my cardiologist on Wednesday. It's a busy week ahead.
-
Meece...That's exciting i never saw AG growing in real life........
Ray...HUGS...♥
I love Lasagna...i love everything.....

Hi (((TOL)))
Been off the boards due to work, then traveled to CT to spend week end with DD and 2 wonderful grandkids....had a great visit.
Don't want to go back to work....
Am having some kind of reaction to meds....jittery, pain in joints, generally off my center. Brain not working. Surprised I can type. I think it's the doubling of the dose of statins. I have to have a 6 week follow up to see if cholesterol is down....it wasn't dangerous or anything....just preventative. But this general pain is stupid.
...I'll get the blood work then tell doc I'm going off the stuff.
Hope everyone's doing OK ... lots of doctor appointments going on...
Gotta get some sleep....tomorrow's my long day. and night.
I ordered DVR today so I can now follow the Bachelor, Survivor, Idol, and whatever else I may find ...
Hope I get up early enough to wash & dry hair before 7 AM.
UGH did I just say that???
nite all....missed hanging out here....
(((Ducky))) thinking of you...and it's a short flight....you go up....then they give you a drink and snack; then you start to begin the slow down for a gentle landing.
Will catch up Tuesday.... -
Joan...When i started taking Zocor years ago.....i was told to report any joint and muscle pain.......
-
OK....Keep Dreaming with Sam and BBB.......
Good Night TOL♥
-
omg - look at that water... and it looks warm there... I would like to be warm.... maybe I should get up and do something...might get my blood moving and warm me up a little.
Have to go online and do some more job stuff. I'm putting it off because I'm scared to try to work. My brain doesn't work. I'm sure they will start me off slow anyway, but I'm out of it...will have to get up the nerve to get the process going...in a while...

It was 82° on Saturday and 74° and overcast yesterday. I was out in the yard in shorts and a tank top!
Sheila, growing AG takes a lot of patience. First you plant roots. You could plant seeds but that sets you back an additional year. The roots are usually sold as one year/two year crowns. You plant them but should not harvest ANY for two years from the time you plant them!
Don’t harvest any spears during the first 2 years that plants are in the permanent bed. They need to put all their energy into establishing deep roots. During the third season, pick the spears over a 4-week period, and by the fourth year, extend your harvest to 8 weeks. In early spring, harvest spears every third day or so; as the weather warms, you might have to pick twice a day to keep up with production. Cut asparagus spears with a sharp knife or snap off the spears at, or right below, ground level with your fingers.
A lot of work, but well worth it!
-
Up bright and early I see...
Ray sorry for the job but I believe everything happens for a reason so the time you spend with Jacob make memories...
Shiela thanks again, the water does look so warm....
Meece, are you kidding me it is like 29 here, can't stand the winter
Joan, traveling, that is what I miss not working, we went to Niagara Falls in March and I got laid off in June of 2005 and haven't traveled really since, have been to Florida twice but not really a vacation...get some sleep.....
I also have to make an appt. with the gynocologist, canceled it in January....have the CT scan tomorrow seeing if the taxotere is working....
Chris this job information is taking forever, how is mom?
Ducky and Granny, hope you are well.....Chubba, Foots, Diane and Deb....thinking of you
Going out toe brunch with a friend, not sure where we are going.....Happy Monday
-
Since my Gyno died several years ago, I just have my GP do my annual. I get an all around physical in one dr. visit.
-
Sheila did you steal my (to do) list....ready for this......and have made none of these......PCP. Dermatologist, Retina specialist, Colonoscopy,Pulmonary specialist, Orthopedic surgeon (deal with the broken vertebrae. and a chest x-ray.......oh and forgot the Dentist.......one of these days I'll get around to it....all way overdue........
-
Feel better Joan!
Make those appointments Sheila.
I want to grow AG but never have.
Enjoy the time with Jacob, 6 weeks will fly by!
Quiet here, gym done. Now going to vacuum up all the messes they made all weekend.
-
Meece.....I love my AG...i didn't realize it took so many years.......
I'm watching the news...another storm Wednesday.......I think i should cancel my MH day.........
My tummy feels like I swallowed a big rock......even coffee is not going down.........
Nothing to report .......Maybe I should get the top of all my appts........
You who are over 50 do you get regular colonoscopies?
I had one in March 2008......
I sound so boring.....See you later
♥
-
Yeah- those little ones don't feel the cold the way we do. lol- 5 boxes of cookies - guess that was some successful arm-twisting.
That's a lot of Dr appts, Ducky.
Wow - asparagus is a lot of work!
Hope the scan shows the taxotere is kicking ass.
My father had the "companion" come today for her first visit- while he was home so my mother would feel more comfortable. He intends to have her come again Wednesday so he can go to the gym and do any errands he wants to do. My mother doesn't realize she gets confused sometimes - though I don't know how much confusion she's had since she's been home (like not remembering how to flush the toilet...). I'll have to ask. Visiting nurse is coming tomorrow to work with her on OT or cognitive therapy - not sure which.
The hiring process was slowed down at first because of them - because they didn't send me the emails right away - but more recently, it's because of me. They sent me the email for the background check last weekend. I didn't want to have to go for the drug test on Tuesday when my mother was going home, so I didn't do that online stuff until Tuesday. Then I had 48 hrs to do the drug test and skipped Wednesday and didn't do it 'til Thursday. Now they've sent me an email for I-9 info and stuff and I'm procrastinating about that. Will do it after DD leaves for her exam. Just dragging my feet.
-
I have had 2 colonoscopies so far, both times found a polyp, found my head too, so every 5 years, yuck.
-
Deb...I didn't have any polyps.....I do remember DR saying 10 years....but my own DR is talking about every 5 years.....
Gastronoligist (SP) that did the procedure either retired or moved so i can't even call him
I'm not afraid or anything but if it's not needed i don't want it...........
Whoever said nice sunny day.....*&^&*&^&* It was windy and chilly and I froze........
I did my refills....got some soft food for my tummy.....feel very tired and sleepy.......
I also got 2 slices of white Pizza...It's weird I feel hunger at the same time the rock in my stomach keeps growing.......Maybe I call the DR.......
Chris.....please take care of yourself.....You have too much on your plate.........

Feel better Sheila. Call the Dr.!
-
-
Hope that rock goes away, Sheila.
Maybe I should have a colonoscopy so I can find my head!
I did the online stuff for the job - now to see if I did it right and they tell me when they want me to come in. So scary. I wish my eyes weren't blurry. I have pharmacy reading glasses, but I feel like I need more. And I'm not looking forward to the on and off of the glasses all day... If they don't need me to start right away, I will try to get an eye exam and see if I need a different Rx from last year. Not that I want to wear glasses all the time... I'm such a pain. Getting old is such a pain.
(((((TOL)))))
-
Sheila.......get to the Dr........hugs
-
More AG news, I am up to 9 spears today. That is good news that the plants overwintered fine.
My Dr wants to do more tests. She feels that colonoscopies miss things and even though mine was clear, she doesn't trust it. It has been two years. I am glad she doesn't just sit back and wait for symptoms. After all. Elimar and I had our colonoscopies on the same day and hers was clear as well.
Got to have an US on my thyroid as well. But the good news is she is renewing my rx for my codeine cough syrup and will be putting me on steroids for 5 days. I will get over this junk.
-
Meece, it does sound like AG is a lot of work....I wonder if deer eat them. Last week I had 8 deer on my front lawn. They eat everything. How mature are your AG plants? Sounds like they are thriving.
Re: colonoscopy...I had my first (at least 10 years overdue) last summer. (clear) I also had endoscopy at the same time. I was told come back in 5 for the colon but one year for the endoscopy since he saw something on my stomach lining and, of course, prescribed meds. Grrrrrrrrrr
When I had the endoscopy, I woke up with a damaged swollen lip from the mouthpiece and a badly bruised arm. I don't want to go back there real soon.
I have not been to the dermotologist since before BC. I had dental work done but put off the root canal...more Grrrrrrr
Sheila, glad you are finding beaches with big rocks! I love it.
Sandy, one reason I keep working is because I want to travel and I know that at any time I could be forced to retire due to unexpected health stuff. I'm tired though...hope you can find a way to get a change of scenery once in awhile. It is good for the brain to refocus.
I hope you are having a good day.
Am going to the most boring long drawn out hot-winded conference today with my college...I do not want to go but must be seen since it's a day off from work. I'd rather go to work any day than to sit through speeches.
Chris, glad you are getting through that online requirement. It's hard to make changes...life seems so full and we often wonder how we could possibly add anything else. You've been through a lot. Mom, Dad, your kids...all at the demanding stage. Hugs for you! (PS - I hate wearing glasses but progressive (line-free bifocals) work great for me, and contact lenses too.)
(((TOL)))Joan
-
I bought and planted third year roots and this is my 4th year growing AG. If the deer would eat them I am sure they'd be easy to track by a hunter.
-
I did get GS cookies 2 thins and Michael wanted something so he got something, didn't know they were still selling them....
Shiela feel better, I have gotten 2 and when I was in the hospital the last time they told me to get another one, NOT.....luckily my dr. gives pills...5 every 15 minutes for an hour...I think the first one was 2007 and then after I got diagnosed with the recurrence in 2010....CALL THE DR.
Good Chris glad the nurse is coming, it will give him a break...
Deb love love love white pizza!!
Joan you need to get one soon!! Have fun at the conference, I personally love them....
Well this is the first year I don't go to Hershey for my "vacation" 9 years I went, but the boys graduated and I am no longer Chair to the Local Task Force on the Right to Education....kinda sad, it is next week, I could have gone but couldn't afford it the hotel and all, they paid for it before.....
on my way to the CT scan, curious as to the results...

How did it go Sandy? I have my MRI on Thursday in Boston, of course we are having a Noreaster Wed night to Friday. I need to take my lorazepam now!
The deer in our yard eat EVERYTHING!!!
Never had a colonoscopy and I don't want one.
-
Hi Ray.....that's a very interesting question......I don't know much about her...but i'm so glad she opened this thread.......
Meece.....Must be such a happy feeling to see AG growing.........
Also....why are you thinking that they miss something on your last colonoscopy?
I know what happened to ELIMAR....is that why you're worried......
Joan...At least it's a nice day for your conference.....why your arm was bruised???????
Chris...Thinking of you...i know how it feels when your brain is full....hugs
Linda...????
i think i should be moving my butt and go out.....rock in my tummy is shrinking but i feel tired
-
Linda,.....have had many.....they are nothing...your asleep.....pain in the ass (literally) is the prep........I would rather get that done then go to the dentist.......so important.....if your over 50, or a family history......get it done.....a colostomy is awful ( mother had one), and death is worse.......you don't want to deal with cancer again......do it for your kids......hugs....
-
Sandy....Good Luck with your results...thinking of you.....♥
OOOH there she is (Linda)......♥
I was watching a show UNDER THE SUN where everybody is happy and no sicness......I want to to live on that island I thik it was called VADUA.....
