I love bluebirds, I always think that a sighting of them, means something good is going to happen!!!! Like blue skies!!!! Thanksfor sharing!!!
Yes, a big hello to Tammy, CookieMonster and ATeamNana!!! Kathy -
Hi kindergarten......where are you traveling today? Hope you are having a lovely time! Yes, I hope the bluebird sighting brings back the blue skies! We could use the sunshine. After a couple of gloomy days we are ready for it. Sounds like we have some more days of rain though. Well, I must make the best of it.....have another cleaning project to work on.
Enjoy your day!!
-
Hi,Jaytee, we took a ride to the outlet mall, to get a walk in and to shop!!! We had to buy stuff for the grandkids and then we delivered the stuff to them!!! Fun day!! We also brought tacos for the family, and believe it or not, I had an apple instead! I weigh in on Friday, so I have to be good!!! You are so good with your cleaning projects!!! You are cleaning and sculpting at the same time. Great exercise!!!! Please enjoy your evening!!!!
-
Kindergarten sounds Iike you had a perfect day. With that kind of eating your weigh in will great!! You go girl!!
-
Thanks, Tenaj, you are so kind!!!! I feel really committed!!! How are the wedding plans going for your dear daughter??? Did your son also get engaged??? Forgive my memory!!!! Have a great evening, hon!!!!
-
Wow, everyone seems to be doing so well....eating good food and exercising...one of my favourite exercises is window shopping...it's amazing how far you walk without noticing....
I'm getting better at belly dancing...I've bought a shimmy belt and a long scarf....perhaps I need to upgrade from the track pants and gym shoes though
This week I've also started interval walking and running with a friend...we're following an iPhone app and taking it slowly...I think my body is enjoying it but it's only been two days so we'll see how it goes....
Look after yourselves..... -
Good morning!
Tammy I love that you are doing belly dancing. I've always wanted to learn. I bought a DVD several years ago & tried it with my daughter. We had more laughs trying, it was fun but I didn't get good at it, nor did I stick with it. Are you getting lessons? I love to window shop too! Good for you in your walking/running. Keep up the good work!
Well, I'm off to work for my first day back.....have a great day all! (((Hugs)))) -
Hey Ladies,
It's snowing here again, but after I take my shower I'm going to get my butt outside and throw a ball for Baxter and Murray in the backyard. We all are feeling cooped up and need the exercise. After that I'm going to try some Pilates exercises that won't stress my foot or my arm - sounds like ab work to me. I just can't wait to be walking regularly again in the woods. Right now I couldn't make it down or up my very steep driveway because of foot pain.
I'm so happy that all of you are doing well. I am doing well with my eating - trying to get the cholesterol numbers down. It's not easy, but it will be worth it if it works. -
Tammy, I am sure you are having so much fun with the belly dancing. All my weight issues involve the belly fat. My biggest goal is to get my waist down in inches. And I love to window shop as well, the problem is I want to go in and buy everything, he,he,he!!!! And good for you with the walking/running!!!
Tenaj, Good morning and I hope you are having a great day!!! Enjoy your first day back at work. I am sure everyone will be so glad to see you.
Hi, Rocket, Have fun playing ball with your puppies. You will be walking outside in no time.
I am headed down shortly to do the elyptical and hopefully walk later!!!
Good morning to Jaytee, ATeamNana and CookieMonster!!!
-
Hi everyone...you are all up early today....especially you kindergarten! tenaj...have a great first day back at work...Its a good week for you, cleared for exercise, getting back into your routine...all the best to you!
I didn't get as much accomplished yesterday as i wanted, kindergarten....I can get easily distracted. Just managed to rearrange a little bit of clutter, and then it was time to get supper started...would rather cook than clean! Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday....have another one today!
Rocket....we had snow on the ground here today too...just a little but enough to make the roads slippery. don't think the road crews prepared for this one. Have you had very much snow this winter? Its so pretty at first, but now that its almost March....am ready for a change. I take the generic femara and I hear that it can cause an increase in ones cholesterol, so far I have been okay but its something I have to watch too. You are eating such a healthy diet, its bound to have an effect on your numbers!
Tammy...you definitely need to get the whole belly dancing outfit...gauzy veils and all...and don't forget the little finger cymbals!
Sounds like so much fun!
Have a good day everyone.......whatever you do and where ever you go!
-
Hi, Jaytee, so good to see you this morning. Please share some of your favorite recipes with us. I am sure that you are a great cook. I am up early, but I go to bed early, too. We should all start belly dancing and post weekly on how it is going. We can all do our own version, and Jaytee the cymbals and veils would be great as we get better. Tammy, I think you have started something good!!!!
We spent the day with Lily yesterday, I am hoping those are extra points for WW. She keeps us going. She is rolling over and climbing on everything. So fun!!!
We are headed to the zoo, so extra walking I hope!!!! Have a great day, everyone!!!
-
Have a fun day at the zoo! You will get lots of walking in.....we have a nice zoo here in Columbus. I always like to see the aquarium and the penguins. Havent been there in quite a while...we usually end up going in the summer when it is so hot that the animals are all staying inside to keep cool!
I am picturing a bunch of us belly dancing....
The zumba dvd hasnt come in at the library yet, am still anxiously waiting to try that out. I was playing a celtic music cd the other day...my daughter used to Irish dance a little and I just love the music....when I wasnt feeling well, I put my music away and getting it out the other day, I was just hopping and jigging all around the living room! Thought they should make an Irish music exercise dvd for all of us who love that music! Lots of good music to dance and exercise to out there....Latin, Irish, Middle Eastern....put whatever kind you like on and just get that body moving!!
Have a joyful day, kindergarten!
-
It would be awesome to have our own belly dancing troupe! I am having lessons but a lot of our belly exercise comes from laughing! It really is just about getting the body moving....
I love Celtic music too...I went to Ireland a couple of years ago and it was wonderful to go to some live concerts or a pub for music...
Happy dancing!!! -
I love the idea of all of us doing dancing together!! How fun that would be.
Kathy, Lily is growing so quickly. Hope you had fun at the zoo. It's been a few years since I've been to a zoo, but have fond memories. I think the last time I went to the Bronx Zoo was when we took my girl scout troop over 12 years ago.
Jaytee & Rocket, I hope the weather is improving & you get to go out for a nice walk or play with the pups. I love all kinds of music....I love to crank up the tunes & boogie around the house while I clean.
Hi Tammy, CookieMonster & ATeamNana & anyone else popping in.
I had a good day back to work, thanks all for the kind words. It was good to get back to taking care of patients. I do perfer to take care of them instead of being the patient!! I exercised & did the treadmill this morning & feel very good! Will try to repeat again tomorrow. I am out of the house early tomorrow to volunteer at a local church for health screening, flu shots & such....this is my first time, looking forward to it.
Have a wonderful day!! Lots of water & healthy eating!
-
Good Friday everyone! Tammy...that would be my dream vacation! Just travel across Ireland and listen to the music. My mothers side of the family is Scots/Irish and there is something in that music that just calls to me. Did you get to see a good portion of the country? Would love to hear about your travels there sometime.
tenaj...I am sitting here having a cup of green tea. When Dh gets home we are going to grab a bite out and just do some window shopping somewhere...just wanted to get out of the house this evening for awhile. I am so hungry, but the tea is helping.....talked myself out of getting into the graham crackers and nutella! Glad you had a good day at work. Sounds like you will have a busy morning tomorrow. Nurses are the best people! I think I may have mentioned way back that my mom was a nurse too and little sister is an LPN. I sometimes miss seeing my nurse at the Onc's office...does that sound weird? You would think that I should never want to go back there...but they all took such good care of me during that time and gave me a lot of support. They still never let me out of there without a hug.
Its our 4th straight day of no sunshine...and its damp and cold, so I didn't walk today, but will try tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone!
-
Hi, Tenaj!!! Happy Friday!! I am so glad too, that you are no longer a patient, but are helping others!!! I too love nurses, with all the hospital stays that I have had, they were my angels, always so good to me!! Thank you, Tenaj!!!! I hope you know how much you are appreciated!!!!Enjoy your day tomorrow, I am sure they all so appreciate your help!!! I am going to our church tomorrow as well, to get everything ready for communion on Sunday!!!
Jaytee, good for you, green tea and no graham crackers!! Even though, you should be allowed to have just one!!!! He,he,he!!!! Hope you had a great evening with your hubby!!!
Hubby and I took a long walk using weights, one each though!!! And I lost 2.8lbs at weigh in this morning!!! Total of 10 Lbs since Jan. 28th!! Gosh, hope you don't think I am bragging, I am just so happy that finally I have found a something that really works. So sorry that I promoted that one book, and some of you bought it. Sorry again!!!That diet did work, but only short term. I know all of you are trying so hard, and that motivates me as well!!!! Thank you so much, wonderful ladies!!! -
Tenaj, I didn't know you're a nurse...that must give you plenty of exercise just running around after your patients...
Kathy, you deserve to brag! Great work!!!
Jaytee, Ireland was beautiful and everyone was so friendly. I would highly recommend it as an easy, relaxing holiday. We were there for two weeks starting and ending in Dublin. We mixed up our accommodation and stayed in small hotels, large hotels, bed & breakfast homes and a castle! It is a small island and we travelled around a lot of the country from Belfast and Derry in the north (my maiden name is Derry so we had to stop in there) to the Ring of Kerry in the south and lots more along the way. I do hope you get to visit one day.
Rocket, I hope you foot pain has lessened....
Best wishes to all -
Hi, Tammy thank you so much for your happy wishes!!! This thread has been such an inspiration for me.!!!! I am so glad that you are here!!! Ireland is definitely on my bucket list one day. My mother's family is from County Cork, did I spell that right? I am sure you enjoyed this beautiful country!!
Jaytee, Tenaj, ATeamNana, Rocket and CookieMonster, Please have a wonderful weekend!!!!
-
Morning ladies! kindergarten.....we celebrate your weight loss with you and you just go ahead and brag all you want!!!! Its a lot of effort and determination and stick to it-ness to lose weight, especially with the AIs we take and lots of other factors. Happy that you have found a plan that works for you!
Oh Tammy......that does sound like a dream vacation. When my daughter danced, her teacher was from Ireland and I could sit and listen to her talk all day....even their accents sound so lyrical and beautiful to me. I surely would like to go there some day....but if not, listening to the music takes me there! We live near Columbus, Ohio and they have a wonderful Irish festival every summer in the suburb of Dublin. Have been able to see a lot of top notch entertainment over the years.
Snowy again this morning.......mother nature needs to know its March already! Its starting to feel like the winter that won't end. I'm watching the temp....if it gets over 32, I'm going to try and bundle up and take that walk since I didn't walk yesterday.
Have a wonderful day everyone!
-
Kindergarten, wow!!!! 10lbs....that's fantastic! So happy for you, you're such an inspiration. I learned a lot from that diet book, so please don't apologize.
Hope everyone is well & enjoying their Sunday. -
Thank you!!!! I am determined and hope I can keep this up!!! Love you guys!!!!
-
Hi all.....I had a busy day with work so I didn't get to exercise. I did eat well though....hopefully I will have a good scale day tomorrow. I'm off until the weekend so I plan on lots of exercise this week & healthy eating. Have a great evening. (((Hugs)))
-
Tenaj, here is to a great week for all of us!!! Enjoy your days off!!!!
-
Kathy, big congrats on the weight loss! You really do inspire me. I'm eating healthier because of that inspiration, so a big thank you as well!
My foot is improving and I was able to take a short walk by the lake with my DH. It felt SO good to be outside, even though it was snowing. Yesterday I joined the fitness center and will strive to work out several days per week riding the exercise bike and a lymphedema pool class twice a week. I also have exercises I can do at home, along with cleaning my house. That should burn some calories! I desperately need to get my cholesterol number down. I eat very little meat or cholesterol-laden foods. I started eating oatmeal every morning with an apple. I eat a very high fiber diet and almost no processed food.
I hope all of you ladies have a lovely and blessed day! -
Hi, Rocket, truly you inspire me with your wonderful, positive attitude even with all that you have on your plate right now!! You are such a fighter and you will knock out the high cholesterol as well. Sometimes, high cholesterol is just genetic, but there are many natural ways to bring it down too, without a statin, but ask you doctor first!! You are doing all the right things!!!! Hugs to you and everyone here!!! I am walking with a group from church every Tuesday morning at our local botanical gardens. It is a beautiful walk, and there are some hills to make a little challenging too.
-
Rocket....so excited to see you were able to take a walk!!! First of many, many more to come! Looks like my exercise tomorrow will be shoveling snow...have heard we could expect anywhere from 2-6 inches. Will see in the morning. By the weekend its supposed to be in the 50s, so it will not stick around very long. Hope it is winters last hurrah!
kindergarten, the group walk sounds nice.. Are there lots of flowers already in bloom out in Ca? I'm definitely ready for flowers here. Got a ways to go though.
Had a difficult day yesterday, was out of town and got back late last night. Today was ripe for emotional eating, but I did pretty well. Late afternoon I had my green tea and a small bowl of grapes. I sit and sip the tea...helps get my mind back on track and of course, I want to be able to write and tell you all that I resisted temptation! Am happy to report that my husbands box of Girl Scout cookies was only missing 1 cookie! Any other day like this, and i could easily have polished off half a box....at one sitting! Thanks for all the gentle reminders about the tea..... and water. I have found myself not drinking enough water again. Having to really make a conscious effort, but I'm working on it.
Well...will say goodnight to you all. I used to tell my kids after they had a trying day..".Today was a difficult day...tomorrow will be better". Need to tell it to myself tonight!
-
Jaytee, I do hope that today is better for you. I like drinking green tea, but I also make a big pitcher of iced green tea and drink that during the day. I don't love drinking water when it's 20 degrees out and the wind is blowing snow like crazy. I just feel colder drinking the water. That's when I drink hot, unsweetened tea. it is very soothing.
Last evening, after eating very carefully all day, I stood up to use the bathroom and almost fainted. I was so weak. I decided to make myself an egg white omelet to get my blood sugar up with a little protein. I added two thin little slices of ham (all-natural with no hormones or nitrites). Eating that revived me. Sometimes when I don't get enough protein in my diet I experience this weakness. It's very strange feeling.
Today I will continue to eat carefully, but will add a small snack in the evening. I think I'll exercise indoors today as the weather here is not conducive to healthy exercise.
Have a great day all! You really do inspire me! -
Good Morning!
This has been a long winter...today we are bracing for another nor'easter!! They are unsure of how much snow 4-8" possible with high winds..enough!! My daffodils that are popping are getting confused. lol
Jaytee, sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday. Today will be a better day. You have a faithful, strong positive attitude that will get you through it. I too love my green tea. The best part is that I drink it without any sweetener. When I have my cup of Lipton/tetley tea I add a small amount of agave & no fat 1/2 & 1/2. I try to limit that to the morning only. My daugther brought home a box of organic mango green tea & that is very delicous also. Nice to mix it up. I do like to have an afternoon snack with a cup of tea. I love girl scout cookies, actually I love most cookies, and now I label read & make sure the snack is worth my while. I don't deprive myself though, I'll have 1-2 whole wheat fig newtons (50-100) or something else that is no more than 100 calories. I have learned that I am a stress eater...hard to keep all the stress away, but I'm working on it!!
Rocket, glad to hear your a bit better & got to take a walk the other day. Are you counting your calories?? It sounds like you are not eating enough...please be careful....starving yourself of calories makes your body store fat in response...Small frequent meals are the best. Eating 70% of your calories before 3 PM helps also. Stay safe in this crazy weather. I prefer plain or flavored seltzer water to drink. I like it so I am able to drink much more of it. When I work, I pack my cooler for the road & drink 3-4 cans plus my cup of greent tea while I'm working. When I brought a water bottle I found I didn't drink enough. The good thing is I gave up all soda.
Kindergarten, your scenery sounds breath taking where you live. Even nicer to do it with friends. Visiting California is on my bucket list!! I was invited to a wedding in San Diego this weekend, where my son is the best man. Unfortnutely we couldn't make it. It would be so nice if we all lived near each other & got to do take those kind of walks with each other.. I do think of you ladies while I exercise & try to maintain my healthy eating all day. I don't want to come back & tell you I have failed. You are an inspiration to me & want to be for you too!!
Hello CookieMonster, AtTeamNana & Tammy..miss you
Have a great day!
-
Hey Tenaj,
I am doing Weight Watchers. I don't go to meetings, but I am a Lifetime member and I follow the program at home. I am eating the correct number of points, but eat mostly fruits and veggies so I don't get enough protein every day. I do eat beans regularly too. I eat my biggest meal for breakfast, then smaller meals in the afternoon and evening. I like nuts too, so I eat about 10 almonds each day. I am tracking my WW points, my protein and my cholesterol each day. Yesterday I had 50g of cholesterol total. I rarely get more than that in my diet. It frustrates me greatly that I eat healthy and have high cholesterol. At least I did some Pilates today and some cardio exercise. I'll just keep plugging along and hopefully it will come down since I've been able to add the exercise back in. Don't you wish you could just order a pizza and dive in? I love pizza, but haven't had it in so long. I miss it. -
Dear Jaytee, you are so good, one Girl Scout cookie!!! I normally consume the whole box!!! I gave up sweets for Lent, God help me when Lent is over, he, he,he!!!!! I am sorry that you had a difficult day, you are certainly allowed enjoy comfort food on days like that. Tomorrow will be a better day. I have been having days like that!! Lack of hormones and taking aromasin. But I come here and you all make me feel better!!!
As Tenaj said, I sure wish we could all walk together!! I just have a feeling, that we might all meet one day!!!
Rocket, hope you are feeling better each day, and that once the weather cooperates, you will be out walking and taking in the sunshine!!!!!
