I still haven't exercised. My foot was in so much pain last night I could barely walk. I missed PT this week and am supposed to go tomorrow, but we are expecting an ice storm. I may not make it again. I'll try soaking it in some Epsom salts. Grrrrr. I feel like when I am motivated to exercise and lose weight, my body revolts. It's so frustrating! Need some encouragement Ladies!

Hi Rocket......we have a chance for some ice tonight and tomorrow morning too! I would take snow any day over ice.   I'm sorry that your foot is in so much pain....I can feel your frustration about wanting to get back to walking and not being able to yet.  Hang in there----wish healing didn't take so long.  I know the tendonitis in my foot was not nearly as painful as what you are experiencing after your surgery, but I know now that I needed time off of it. It is really, really hard to stay off of your feet though!   I'm thinking of you and will be lifting you up in prayer for healing and strength to increase in your foot.    jaytee

Thanks so much Jaytee.  I agree with you regarding the ice.  Ice and fog really scare me.

I looked on the internet yesterday regarding recovery times for a Tailor Bunionectomy (I had both that and a great toe bunionectomy at the same time) and most were saying four to six weeks.  Mine is now at 9+ weeks!  I have been so good about staying off of it, but I developed RSD (a painful nerve condition) and I am supposed to be walking on it to help with that condition, but my foot is still so swollen that I can only wear one pair of shoes.  They aren't the best for walking as they don't have much arch support.  I also have plantar fascitis in both feet.  I stayed on my feet all morning, and now I'm paying for it big time.  So I'm sitting at my computer instead.  We have a home group Bible study tonight at a friend's house and I am determined to go - even if I have to crawl!  Laughing I missed the one last night because I was in too much pain.  I appreciate your prayers and warm thoughts.  Thanks so much!

Oh Rocket. It sounds like you're suffering so much, and after everything else, it's not what you need. I'm sorry and I wish I could dull the pain for you. It sounds like you're determined to minimize its interference in your life, which is a good thing. Keep it up.

I'm not sure how, but I was down this week. I'll take it. Probably due to all the walking and running I did this weekend at the soccer tournament. Staying on track is so hard for me right now, my focus in general is horrible too, I blame the Tamoxifen.

Hi everyone, nice to see some old "faces" back here again too.

Sorry to hear your not feeling better Rocket. Make sure you take time to elevate your feet during the day, it helps with the circulation, pain & healing. The weather system that is going through probably doesn't help either. Stay safe Jaytee & Rocket in this icy weather.

    Have a nice evening everyone!

kindergarten...hope you have a good weigh in today!  and Cookie...celebrating your good weigh in,,no matter how you did it.....YOu did it!!

Roads were pretty icy this morning....but not as bad as others have it today.  We didn't get snow with it and it should turn to all rain by noon.  Texted my daughter and she said the streets and sidewalks at OSU were a sheet of ice....made it to her first class ok, but then had a fall on way to next one....she was okay....just very upset....she has a midterm today and now is in a foul mood!  It would have to be a blizzard or worse for them to cancel classes at that school!

How are you feeling today, Rocket?  If you only had to deal with the plantar fascitis, that would be enough!  My DH had that in one of his feet.  Take care and I hope you have a good day today.

Same for everyone else...hi tenaj...are you going to get any of this freezing rain?  I'm taking it easy today....don't have to go anywhere....its a good day to make a pot of chicken soup!

    Thinking of you all today.....jaytee

Hi Ladies! It is a good day to make soup. I just finishing making a pot of cabbage/vegetable soup for lunch. This always helps me to loose weight....I just tire of eating after a bit. But between the lentil soup I made the other day & today I can mix it up a bit. Yesterday I had yogurt with bananas, peaches & blueberries for lunch. Lunch always is tough for me to eat the right thing.

Jaytee, glad to hear the weather is improving. We are suppose to get very windy/rainy weather this weekend but its not cold enough for snow. Hope its not ice!! Sorry to hear about your daughters fall. I know how my DD was when she had tests the tension level was always up! And everything is called a midterm, except if its the final!! LOL  She would get upset much easier when she had a test....Last semester she finished all her classes, now she TA's & does her research. I hear different stresses in her now. Just gotta be as supportive as possible. Unfortunately I see her mostly by facetime or skype!! I cherish the times when she comes home.

Kindergarten hope your weigh in went well. You are so motivated I'm sure you will see progress. Smile

Congrats to you 2 CookieMonster! Smile

I hope you are feeling better today Rocket. Try to pace yourself & not stand up too long on your feet. It's good also to elevate them during the day. (above your heart level)

    Have a great Friday!!

    ((hugs))

    Hi Gals,

I made it to PT yesterday and they had me rock both feet on a balance board. I also went into the pool. An hour or so later my ankle swelled up like a balloon! It feels like a pulled tendon or a muscle strain. So now I have my foot elevated again. Grrrr! The frustration never ends. Hopefully this week I will be able to do some of my Pilates exercises this week, at least the ones where I don't have to stand.

Good morning!  Rocket....your poor foot!   Did it take long for the swelling to go down?   I imagine you are going stir crazy having to stay off of it!   I hope and pray it feels better soon!

The ice from yesterday is all gone....and its in the high 30s here today, so I will not have an excuse to not go take a walk today.   Gave into some temptation yesterday on the eating side----Dh still likes to bring home marked down baked goods from Krogers.  Picked at the edges of a pie..before long you have eaten a whole piece, but you try to tell yourself that you didn't.  Was thinking about losing weight:   people tell us we should lose weight, doctors tell us we need to lose weight or we have to lose weight, our conscience tells us we better lose weight or else....I need to get to the point where I truly want to lose weight and feel better so that achieving those goals will feel better than eating that pie!!!    Sigh!

    Have a good weekend everyone!

Rocket, yes, prayers are coming for healing and recovery. You deserve to feel normal again, but again your positive attitude amazes me!! Jaytee, I so know what you are feeling about losing weight. It is a constant battle and you have to want to do it unconditionally. Don't be hard on yourself, we have all been there!! I have been on a roller coaster for over 10 years, and even though I am doing better right now, I never know when I will slip, again. Some one told me to just keep trying, and if I have a bad eating day, shake the dust off my feet and keep trying!! Don't give up and we will all help each other!!! Hugs to you and everyone here !!! Well said! We all know the same struggle and the up & down....I love to cook, bake & eat!! What's a girl to do????

One day at a time is the best way to look at it. Then when you start to eat better your body physically feels better, then you just gotta go with it.Kiss  I know for me the fact that you ladies are in my life now is helping me get through the most difficult times in my life. Your inspiration is helping, I'm down a pound.(since 4 lbs I gained post op) Boy does that go on easy!! I better work quick at getting rid of it before it takes on a super hold! LOL.......Now I just have to get the clear to exercise again. Its amazing how fast your body starts to breakdown. Before my surgery I was on the treadmill at least 4 times a week. I'll have to work up to that again. I"m doing more water, green tea, soups & yogurt...

Jaytee, we're here for support...some days are just easier than others.

Healing prayers to you Rocket,...Have you tries epsom salt soaks??? They are very good for the minerals like magnesium which are very healthy for bones & such...

    Have a great Saturday all!

Good Sunday morning!   Thanks for the encouragement...I did better yesterday and felt a lot better after getting outside to walk.  Couldn't walk at the track, so went to the bike path instead...we had sun yesterday and there were quite a few people out there...after being cooped up inside for a few days, think I needed the interaction even if it was just saying hello to others passing by!

Tammy...day by day you are going to start feeling your strength coming back as that fatigue from treatment starts waning.  All the best to you!

    Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi, Tenaj!!! I hope that you are feeling better each day!!! Tammy, yes, great news about you finishing your rads, go out and celebrate!!! Yes, slow and easy at the gym! Rocket, I hope you are having a restful and pain free weekend! Jaytee, I hope your weather cooperated so that you could get a nice walk in!!!

Rich and I went for a walk up at Point Vincente in Rancho Palos Verdes, and I think I recognize someone from the soap:General Hospital, the high powered lawyer Alexis!! I asked her and she said yes!! She is the nicest person and she talked with us for over 30 minutes! I was so excited!! My first star sighting from a soap opera!! Sorry to ramble on about this, but I have always thought movie and tv stars were totally out of reach, but most of them are just normal human beings with normal lives and problems like us!!! She

    was really so nice!!!

I wish you all a Great Sunday!!! Hi, to CookieMonster and ATeamNana!!!!

Kathy, your celebrity sighting is so cool! I went to NYC as a teenager with our high school music group, and I saw Art Linkletter, Dom Deluise, and another TV actor, who's name escapes me at the moment, who was staying at our hotel. He was a very nice man. I spoke to him in the elevator. I wasn't sure he was an actor until we got outside the hotel and people mobbed him for his autograph. Too bad I didn't get it.

Thank you all for your care and concern for my foot. It's still pretty swollen and I will go to PT tomorrow and get in the pool provided the weather cooperates. We are expecting icy weather again. I am so looking forward to spring.

Tenaj, I do use epsom salt to soak my feet. It feels so good. Despite everything however, I am still in pain and am praying that it will get better each day. I'm trying so hard to be patient. I will use my TENS unit several times today. Hopefully that will help.

I did lose two pounds despite not exercising. I have really been eating healthy and counting my points. It takes discipline, but the payoff will be worth it. Lots of veggies, fruit, Chobani yogurt and air-popped popcorn. :-)

Hope you all have a great day!

Rocket.....you did great losing weight last week despite everything you are going through with your foot!!!!   Celebrating that with you!   I had my whine last week....thinking that if I couldn't have excellent will power, then why couldn't I have a super fast metabolism??  Me, being the pot, complaining to the Potter!   Through the struggles there are usually valuable lessons to be learned. I need to always remember that!

We had a very nice sunny day yesterday and I got to take a 2 mile walk...it felt good, but we always say in Ohio...just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change...it did, today is pretty dreary with a steady cold drizzle.  Will find some other ways to keep moving today.

Take care everyone...you are all in my thoughts today!

    Good day everyone!

Jaytee, we had a sunny day yesterday too & I got to take the dog for a short walk at the beach campgrounds. It felt so good to be out in the sunshine. Today is very gray & gloomy & a rain storm with high winds is coming through late tonight. So no walking outside for me. I saw the PS today & got the OK to resume work & exercising. So here we go!!!! Tomorrow I will start on the treadmill, slowly....I will work myself up again to 45 minutes but I need to remind myself to pace myself.

Kindergarten, I love your star encounter!!! I watch General Hospital now that my other soaps were cancelled. Is she as pretty in person? The good thing about soaps is you don't have to watch everyday to know what is going on! Lol

Congrats on the weight loss Rocket, wow! With all the discomfort you've been through, I admire your determined attitude!

I am picking on blueberries, oranges & pears in between my meals. By do I have the hankering to bake something again.....one of my cooking magazines just came & has a great recipe for scones....I've never made them & would like to try. Maybe next week if I drop a few pounds....

Thinking of all of you dear ladies.

    Morning Gals,

Yesterday I had pool therapy for my foot.  It feels good in the pool, but when I get out it's pretty painful.  Today I finally got my compression stocking on my sore foot and am hoping it will bring the swelling down.  I so want to walk out in the woods again.  It is very icy here.  The trees are bedecked in crystal and look spectacular against the blue sky backdrop with the sun glinting off the branches. It's so beautiful!  It's not great for driving however, so staying in today until it warms up and things melt.  I am trying so hard not to eat anything that isn't nutritious for me.  I don't want to waste points on stuff that does my body no good.  I have to get my cholesterol under control.

Janet - scones are delicious and have very little sugar in them.  They aren't high fat either.  I have eaten them with a little fresh fruit preserves and a squirt of whipped topping on them.  So yummy.

Jaytee - I envy your two-mile walk, and I also understand the clay and the potter analogy.  I struggle with that all the time.  Indeed there are many lessons to be learned by struggle.  Hopefully I will learn them with grace.  Smile

Kathy, my friend, I hope you are doing well with your WW.  I'm sure you are.  I admire your discipline and strive to be like you.

    Have a wonderful day Ladies!

    Good afternoon friends!

I didn't succumb to baking the scones yesterday and I guess it was a good thing as I lost another pound. 2 more until I get to my pre-surgical weight. I reintroduced myself to the treadmill this morning. I did 25 minutes without a problem. I stopped only because I know it is the right thing to not overdo on the first day back to exercising. I also did a  bit of stretching & abdominal work on the big ball I have. It felt great! Back to work tomorrow so I hope I have energy when I get home. If not I am off Friday.

Rocket, stay safe in the icy weather. We are lucky it warmed up because we only have rain & a lot of it!!

I am learning about making those healthy choices now, I only want to eat something if it is really good, don't want to waste the calories. I just saw something on the Dr. Oz that said for improved weight loss 60% of your calories should be consumed before 3 pm.

    Have a great day! Smile

Hello everyone...sounds like you are doing well today!  So happy that you are cleared for exercise again, tenaj and great job on another pound down!   Rocket, I join with kindergarten in keeping your foot in our prayers.  Your foot will heal and you will take your walks in the woods and it will be glorious!!!!! Smile   Think how good that will be combined with the good eating habits you are developing.

More rain is coming today, but I did get out early and took my walk.  Picked a good time cause I never felt the first raindrop.  I did have to bundle up more today though.  Got a treat right at the end of my walk....saw a pair of bluebirds!   That just made my day

Thinking of Tammy today and hoping that you are doing well....also hello to ATeam and Cookie monster and everyone else who stops by here occasionally.   Blessings and a hug too,  jaytee
