OK, Lets shoot for 100 points! And anyone is welcome to join, and I reinforce that posting your weight is NOT requried, at all.
-
Did we ever decide what daily water intake should be so I can put it in the header?
-
I think we settled on 6 glasses of 8 ounces of water per day--about a liter and a half. But my memory is not the most dependable.
-
We'll go with that though.
-
RoadRunner checking in:
Friday Check in = 3 points
Weight 222# = 0 points
Water = 5 points
Exercised = 3 points
Extra Credit--Made a dentist's appointment ( I hate dental work!) 1 point
Total = 12 points
OK, I admit I didn't pay as good attention to my diet as I should have, it was my birthday on Wednesday and the office gals brought in cake and ice cream made with actual cream! So yummy, so calorific! I should have walked more, or found some what to exercise more, and that will be my goal for the coming week.

Exercise = 7 points
Daily H2O = 7 points
Extra credit = 1 point, dental appt yesterday.

(edit to add: Happy belated Birthday, NM!)
-
Roadrunner here:
Friday = 3 pts
Weight 185.6 (up .2) = 0 pts
Water = 7 pts
Exercise = 4 pts
Extra = 0 - can't take credit for anything
Only 14 pts total
-
OK 62 points from the four who posted yesterday, we didn't meet our goal of 100 points but the good news is we've increased our per-person average to 15.5 points. That's up from 14 last week and 13.5 the week before. Good job birdies!
-
Nice number crunching, Badger, Thanks!
So shall we still shoot for 100 points? Or would we rather shoot for 16 points per person? Or shall we use both as goals?
My personal goal for this week is 30 minutes of exercise every day. Not all at once, but added up over the day. Which means keeping track during the day. My secondary goal is to get into the habit of using my iPHone to track stuff, and to start tracking my food intake sometime soon. Keep me accountable, Ladies!
-
NM, we could do both. I believe the ladies who didn't get here yesterday still did stuff so if we kept the goal at 100, they might be motivated to post, even later in the week. And the 16-point per-person average would be a good way to motivate us individually.
For a while I used a site called LoseIt.com to track food and exercise but it was tedious inputting every morsel. Would have been much easier with a smart phone that could scan the bar code and upload the nutritional data. I know people who've used My Fitness Pal and like it very much.
-
I feel bad that I didn't make it here yesterday. We left early for a home show with our club.
Not sure I made a loss, but I would have at least added the check in point.
I'll do better this week.
-
no worries, Meece! We are all doing the best we can, and you've got to live your life.
-
I can't believe I missed the Friday check-in!
1 pt for checking in late
0 pts for weight gain - I picked up 3 lbs this week - how? Of course, it was my birthday last Sunday, so I've been eating gluten-free chocolate cake, and other goodies. Sigh. I guess I just have to avoid it all.
2 pts for exercise - starting back with biking or re-bounding + core work
6 pts for water
9 pts - not much help with 100 pt total, but it's my share! I'll do better this next week - I'm trying for exercising 3 days a week, I'm taking my meds so I'm hoping that will help with the coughing and I can get on with it.
-
Badger--ok, both it is! That will give inspiration and motivation for all kinds of people. I'm using My Fitness Pall and Lose It to see which one will be best for me.
Meece--no problems about that, we all have lives and this isn't supposed to get in the way of life. If it does it doesn't work!
Bookart--don't worry about it! We all miss check in fromt ime to time. The purpose here is motivation (and accountability for me).
Bookart's contribution brings out total to 71 points! Yeah Team!
-
Yay Team is right, and if we give Meece one point for checking in, we're up to 72.
Happy belated Birthday, Elaine! You should get an extra credit point for the extra year.
NM, pls let me know what you think of Lose It. I liked inputting exercise (which BTW includes housework) and watching it give me more calories for the day. I haven't tried My Fitness Pal.
Mouth is still sore but the pain is much less so yesterday I got out for my first decent walk in a while. Sunny but cold, so I bundled up and did my 2.5 mile route, albeit slowly. Felt great when I got back home. Will go out again this afternoon.
Also did an hour of yoga & meditation this morning so should see an increase in my exercise points next Friday.
Maybe everyone could try for an extra credit point by doing something healthy this week?
-
badger--so far I like Lose It better, it's easier to put in exercise from the iPhone than My Fitness Pal. And good for you for counting housework! Great idea!
-
NM, on the Let's Post our Daily Exercise thread, we call housework Scrub & Sculpt.
Glad to hear you like Lose It so far. Is it fairly easy to input food using youir iPhone?
-
So far I've only put in exercise, haven't tried putting in food yet. Putting in food is pretty easy in My Fitness Pal from the iPhone, but exercise isn't. Hoping to find an ap that is easy to do both!
OK, life is NOT FAIR. Drank all my water yesterday. Got almost an hour of walking it (not all at once, but over the afternoon). Taking all my meds like I'm supposed to. Weight this am UP to 224#! WTF? But someone at work asked me if I've lost some weight yesterday. So maybe it's moving around?
-
I actually upped my water intake yesterday. It may not be to recommended yet, but I improved on my basic habit. That's a plus.
-
I'm trying My Fitness Pal, but since I don't have a smartphone, it's hard for me to keep up. I've tried doing it when I come home, but I get busy, distracted, can't remember. Paper journal is worthless for me. Of course, maybe I could keep a log and figure calories later. What did we do before technology?
-
before technology we spent less time sitting ~ no computers no video games
Was at 168.4 for Weds Weigh-In so hopeful for Friday!
Sipping a cup of decaf Constant Comment tea, yummy orange rind & sweet spice.
Satisfies the sweet tooth without sugar, it's warm & comforting but no calories.
-
Badger--Sculpt & Scrub is cool!
Meece--don't forget to take credit for you water intake on Friday! I say take the full points for meeting your personal goal. One goal will not fit everybody, and credit should be given for progress. Changing habits is a big step.
Bookart--I remember carrying around a little notebook and writing everything down, then looking it up when I got home and then adding all the calories. BORING! TEDIOUS! NOT FUN! Techy toys make it so much more fun!
Well, I'm back down to 221# this am. Hoping for 220# tomorrow. We'll see!
-
DS invited me to his house for lunch yesterday. He decided on grilled cheese sandwiches, but when he put the plates on the table there were two sandwiches on both with a pile of Doritos in the middle. When he went back to the kitchen for water, I places 1/2 a sandwich and several chips on his plate. I finished one sandwich and the remaining chips then offered him my last half. So I did well eating just one and my stick thin son ate three!
-
NM - so is Shovel & Sculpt
good job, Meece!
Elaine, I carried around a little notebook and logged food, then inputted it to Lose It.
It's a great concept. I liked that you could save a list of foods you eat on a regular basis.
And you can put in all of the nutritional values you'd find on the food label - calories of course, and also grams of fat, sugar, sodium, fiber, etc. Good data but labor-intensive when done by hand. But it kept track for me, and I loved putting in exercise and earning back some calories.
Also liked that you could set a goal weight and number of calories in your daily diet, and it came up with the date you'd reach your goal weight. Now I log in and post my weight once or twice a month. It generates a graph showing the downward trend over time - cool.
168.4 again this a.m. Is it bad to weigh in every day? I can't seem to stop myself.
See you tomorrow birdies.
-
RoadRunner checking in:
Friday Check in = 3 points
Weight 221# = 2 points
Water = 6 points
Exercised = 4 points
Extra Credit--parked in the lower lot and took the stairs all week-- 1 point
Total = 16 points
Meece--You were so clever! Good for you!
Badger--shovel & sculpt, now I can get into that! I weigh myself every day, too. Just can't get away from that habit. I like the graph on My Fitness Pal, and the way calories get added in when I log exercise, too. But it doesn't seem to work really well for me on the iPhone.
Bookart--adding foods to Lose It on the iPhone is pretty easy, the trick is finding a listing that most closely matches what I'm actually eating. But I did it right at the restaurant at lunch yesterday, while I was waiting for change, so it didn't take long.
-
Friday check in: 3 pts
Water intake:2 pts
Exercise: 5 pts
Extra: 1 pt
total: 11 pts
My extra credit was that I set up the Wii Active 2, which I have had for 8 or more months, for the first time yesterday. It has the heartbeat monitor so you can keep your heart rate in 'the zone'. My resting heart beat was around 88 bpm, but I was able to average 120 during 30 minutes of exercise.
-
Hey, I remembered! Rockin Robin checking in...

Extra credit ~ 1 pt. ..started a C25K program~ not sure I will stick with it all the way through
Also, bought some snazzy running shoes for my birthday to keep me motivated. They should be delivered today. Yay! They are so cute, each shoe is a different color. I'll look fast just standing still. lol
Total 24 pts.
-
