Hi All:
It was so great to meet everyone yesterday. What a wonderful event The Race for the Cure is!!!! So inspiring!
Anyway, Nancy as I said before I was committed to walk with my sisters-in-law and nieces this year so maybe next year I will get them to join in with us , right??
Chris, I was so sorry to have missed you - I think you were up at the stage area Nancy said. Well, see you at the next luncheon then I hope.
To all the 'new to me' gals, i.e., luckyanna, kats, 3bears and shel38 - it was an honor to meet you at last. Hope we can all get together soon again. Shel38,thanks for the Canadian coin and Chris thanks for the neat scarf/bandana. I will keep both and happily wear them.
Blessings,
Pat -
You guys! I'm once again speechless. I want to hug all of you and I'm so happy to meet each and every one of you. Thanks for all the goodies, help from hubbies, pictures and everything!
I went home, did some stuff around the house and then slept for 12 hours. I mean that is some kind of world record for me.
I just started looking at the pics today and I have one surprise for you on this page...
Look to the right of the page where it says "On Local 4" and click on pictures of Komen Race.
http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/4272835/detail.html
I'll get the rest together soon and post them on the site Irene mentioned or webshots and also send a zip file by email to Shel and anyone else who wants them!
xxxxoooo and big hugs to all of you!
Nancy -
awesome pics nancy..........would you be willing to send me a bc.org tee?.........i gave my pink one to my friend she really wanted it and i was happy to give it to her since she ran "for me"!
what a great experience........i'mm still on a big "high"! -
Thanks Shel. Yes, I will send you two, one for you and Sil. I'm afraid that all we got were X-Large and Medium. I gave all the medium to the children on the team who went to the Coney and Hockey Town. So, I have a few X-Large left. I know how tiny you are as is a bunch who said they could wear them as night shirts!
If that doesn't work for you, why not let me see if Melissa and Carolyn can get you smalls when they come in?
Otherwise, give me your address in a private message!
Thank your hubby for putting pics together for us.
I added a few more to the Channel 4 site. They appear to censure them because they kept some out.

Nancy -
Here are the links for the webshots pics. I'll post them in the photo album below also.

Hi!
Am I the only one who can't see the Hot Shots? It keeps either thanking me for submitting a photo, or bringing up the screen to upload photos.
Maybe I'll try later. Maybe the site's down or something.
Irene -
Never mind, it finally came up.
Nancy - Did you email the crazy jacket photo? Are you also sending the one with Chris? -
Irene - I see what you're doing. There are two hot shots links. Select the second one. Look at the far right of that screen. It should say
On Local 4
Hot Shots: Race For The Cure
# Send Local 4 your Hot Shots from this year's Race For The Cure. We'll add your photos to our ClickOnDetroit online photo gallery, plus your Hot Shot might even be used on Local 4 News.
UPLOAD: Submit Your Hot Shot Photo
#
HOT SHOTS: See Pictures Sent In To Local 4
Select the Hot shots part. It will load macromedia. It comes up without a direct address to send you. -
It was so nice meeting all you ladies & Brett. Thank you so much for letting me, Bob and Alex be a part of this. Bob has already asked if we're going back for next years race. So are we invited???
(I seriously need to lose some weight and do something about that hair of mine.....YIKES!!!)
Bob after the race..........Shhh!!! don't tell him I posted this.
kats -
Finally got the Hot Shots working - thanks! Great photos. I took a quick look at the webshots photos, but I'll have to look at them at work because of our having dial up (long-suffering sigh).
I've uploaded my photos in a flip book. If you have dial up, it'll take a while to download. Let me know if you have any problems. Not that I'll know what to do about it, but just so I'll know.
Hope you like them!
Irene
Here are the instructions:
To view the FlipBook, click
http://www.flipviewer.com/popup/?opf=htt...p;ver=FlipAlbum
You will be prompted to download the free FlipViewer. Just click "Yes" and FlipViewer will be downloaded and installed. After installation, the FlipBook will launch automatically.
If you right click on a photo, and then click on Preview it will show the photo larger. You can also print or save them that way. If you have dial up, I'd be glad to mail a copy. -
Irene - fantastic shots! You had a bird's eye view on the trolley. I had to save these. I have a folder of architecture and had to laugh at the Church's chicken in front of the church also (or maybe cry). I'll post the link to those tomorrow. Your pics of the Crazy Jacket were better than mine. I'm going to send them to Paul at thiscrazyjacket.com He was happy to get the ones I sent him and says he wants to load them tonight even though he is on his way home from a trip. I'll post all of those tomorrow also.
Love those shots of Barb's nephews in the fat suit!
Kats - your hubby looks like I felt last night! Did he tell you that I said I think you should be a graphic artist. You did a great job on the signs.
xxxooo
Nancy -
Guess what! I'm in Sunday's Freep p. 16A. There is a picture of people riding the trolley & looking at the runners. I'm in the back behind a window with ornate flowers on it. It took me by surprise even though I knew there was a reporter on the trolley. What fun!
-
How cool, Ann! I just checked it out on line. The picture is just above the More Detroit on the left of the screen at http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006606110586
If you click on it, it comes up larger.
Thanks, Nancy! Glad you liked them.
You slept 12 hours!! Wow. -
Hi, ladies
It was great seeing all of you at the race. I was disappointed that I couldn't talk to each of you longer. The day went by so fast! We will have to plan another get together soon. What's a good half way point? I live near Flint.
Nancy... Do you have any bc.org t shirts left? I hope you can send me one. Your race pics are awesome. What an amazing day!
Irene... Have a great time in NYC and shop till you drop! I hope your foot is feeling better.
Kats... I love the photo of your hubby...too funny! I think we all felt that way afterwards. I know
I did. But I couldn't rest. I had my neice's dance recital...3 hrs long! I didn't get home until 12:15 a.m. What a busy day.
It was wonderful spending such a special and inspiring day with you.
Sincerely, Tonya -
Tonya - Yes, I have some xLarge left. It was nice meeting you. Send me a private message with your address and I will mail it to you.
Ann - Now you and Chris are famous! Nice picture.
Kats - not only are you invited back next year, you can be our new captain. Or as fancy2 calls it our "fearless leader"!
Irene - your going to NYC? Did I miss that? Have fun.
I should have gotten everyone to sign a thank you card or something for the breastcancer.org team who got us the t-shirts and banner.
Paul at this crazy jacket already put up pics! I should have gotten more shots of you guys in the jacket! It is now in the mail to jrqjunque in New Jersey. By the way, he's ad-libbing but too funny:

hey anyone who knows how to post pics on here.........i think it'd be nice if we posted some of ours on the put a name to the face thread.......just a thought! by the way i'm "in" next year ok? and you're all welcome to come here october 1st and join me in the windsor race.......it's supposed to be pretty well done too!
-
Kats...yes will you be our new captian? I think we can expand our team big time for next year. Shel38...I am thinking about coming to the Windosr race...that would be fun!
I think the pictures would be good too. When do we want to meet again for lunch ladies? -
Loved that picture of Bob!
-
if you come to the windsor race let me know and tell you how to join my "team"..........the owner of a salon that i frequent is going to reimburse everyone who joins our team by giving back your entry fee in services at her salon!
so if you join soon enough you can go and get a pedicure or something before you head home........maybe i'll have toenails by then and i can join you!!! lol!
i'll come for lunch if you do it again, i'm having my prophy mast on thursday so i'm off work for the summer at least! -
Irene,
Great pictures. You sure had a great view of the race from the trolley. Bob wants to know what kind of camera you have?
kats -
Nancy - I liked the photos you took of the jacket. Great idea to go to Hell. I've been able to check out some of the photos you took while at work. You got some great shots. If my boss would just get out of the office I could see them all. I'd like to see the architectural ones. I like those types of photos. Especially doors and stairs.
Kats - Glad you liked the photos. It's a digital SLR - a Canon Rebel. It's awesome - you can use "regular" lenses on it. The only good thing that happened last year was my digital camera breaking so I had an excuse to buy this one.
I did have a great view of the race. If I had to be stuck on the trolley, I'm glad I was at least able to get some photos. -
Irene,
When Bob saw the pics you took he said to me "I bet her camera' a SLR". Earlier this spring we were looking into getting a SLR. Guess now that's going to be high on our ' need to purchase' list since we've seen how nice pics really look taken with a SLR.
Mary -
After looking at my shots again, they are really bad. I think I'm going to add your photo's to my folder when I get some time. These are the few I took of the architecture in Detroit during the race. I love the old church's, brick work and old wood work. I really like looking at doors and stairs also, Irene! I kept trying to get a picture of that angel while I was walking. Good thing Irene was in a cast to get the best shots! Ha Ha - just kidding.

Is everyone recovered from Saturday? Anyone doing the Windsor race? Shel is still getting donations. Will they add her total to her Windsor total?
The Channel 4 shots are already moved. I guess it is old news already. -
Mary - I highly recommend an SLR. I got lucky and got mine on closeout, so I got a good deal. Plus, I already had a couple of lenses and filters from my film Rebel. A good source for info in PC Photo magazine ( www.pcphotomag.com ).
Nancy - thanks for the compliment. The cast was a kind of "blessing in disguise" wasn't it. My sister has a whole photo album of doors that she took while traveling in Europe and living in San Francisco. I hope to get enough to do the same one day.
And maybe one on bathrooms (see the Pee Alot thread in Moving Beyond). I always wanted to do a book called Bathrooms of America rating and photographing public restrooms across the country. FYI - one of the best is in the restaurant at the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago (Mary - maybe you've seen it?). Floor to ceiling windows with a great view of Chicago. Okay, I'm weird.
Well, I'm off to take my DH for his knee surgery.
Shel - hope everything goes well on Thursday. Keep us posted, please.
Irene
Everyone have a great day. -
Shel,
Wishing you the best Thursday also. Get online when you can and give us an update.
Irene,
Give our best to your DH's knee surgery!
Off to check out the pee post. Someone sent me email of a porta-john that was made of one-way glass. I wouldn't be able to use it!
Ok - checked it out! HAAAAA HAAAAAA!!! I'll save my comments for when I get home! -
Irene,
Thanks for the info & website.
Hope your husband's surgery went well and he's not in too much pain.
Mary -
Kats-Are you going to be our team leader? I sure hope so. Your husband was great and Bret enjoyed talking with him.
Where do I post the pictures at? I have some good ones.
SEI-Yes I do know that you know about restrooms!!! The Race for the Cure had some awesome restrooms...although I would have gone in a seat in the woods at that point! Can you please send me Mary's grandaughters t-shirt video? I must have cut our tape a bit short.
Shel-When is your race again? I am so impressed that your husband was flying over us!!!
Once again...my husband thanked me for allowing him to be a part of this whole experience. Count us in for next year (and maybe Windsor!). You ladies rock!!! -
october 1st..........he tipped his wings at us, it was pretty emotional for me since he can't come into the states otherwise and wanted so badly to participate........i'm goin to bed got a big day ahead of me, but i'll be back soon and mike is working on the dvd.......again please send your pics to me at shelatk@cogeco.ca ..........i want them all included on the disc and send your mailing address with the pics ok? so i can eventually send ya'll a copy!
-
Not Me,
Me, team leader now that's funny. I'm a follower not a leader, I'll be more than happy to make the signs, posters and whatever else (as long as you can be my spell checker)
Looks like pics are being posted in the Cybersisters photo thread. I should have had the camera with me instead of Bob having it, I was in the middle of the festivities and missed out on some good photo opportunities. Next year gonna make sure we both have cameras.
Mary -
I will post some pictures...when I get a chance. Sorry so late. How is everyone?
