Hi, I am 61 and was diagnosed with triple neg BC on Oct 31 2012 and started neoadjuvant treatment with dose dense biweekly AC around Dec 1. I had the most severe side effects I could do nothing 11 of each 14 day cycle. I spent the rest of the remaining 3 days recovering.

On Moday I start the same regimen but with Taxol. BM and reconstruction to follow in late April.

Today I felt almost normal and did my gentle yoga DVD. So I'd like to be on this thread if you'll have me. I want to get strong thru healthy eating and as much exercise as I'm able for here on in.

    Thanks,

    Peggy

Thank you for your warm welcome,

I'm a little sore today but nothing out of the ordinary when I've been sedentary for so long.

Today I'm having my 6 year old grandson over. He rarely sits still so I will be moving around for three hours. Before BC when we had him over I was always tired. So, I'm going to count third three hour stint as exercise for today.

Tomorrow is my first taxol. Anxious because of potential allergic reaction and SEs but I think that's normal.

Hope you all are doing well today. Peggy

hi Peggy, good luck tomorrow!  I gained weight during chemo because I ate whatever tasted good.  That was OK, it's important to eat.  I tried to walk some every day too, even if just to the mailbox.  Those lbs came off fairly quickly.  It's these last ten pounds I'm having so much trouble with.

Welcome Peggy, my BC was also TN.  MY tx was AC-T and the regimen of Taxol didn't affect me any differently than the AC.  They really dosed me up with Benadryl before the infusion though.

I didn't start gaining weight until after tx, by a couple years and have had such problems gettingg the scale to move in the downward direction.

I am not working tight now so I could do daily exercise, and yet I don't.  It is hard to be motivated alone, and the weather has been so dreary that it just doesn't seem inviting to get active.  I really need to do something.  DH moved my exercise bike to the freezing garage when we had houseguests in November, and it is still there.  Maybe I will exercise today by bringing it back into the house.

    Meece,

Your mention of the stationary bike gave me a push toward mine this week. I'm taking baby steps--started at 5 min and adding 1 minute a day (building up to 30 min a day) since I've been totally sedentary during AC chemo.

I've also returned to my gentle yoga DVD that I hope to do at least 3 days a week.

If I can do that in the two months before my mx surgery I will feel good about it!

So, your post on this thread did me a lot of good. Thank you.

Just moving around is burning calories, so good for you doing all that cleaning!

Did 8 minutes this morning and yoga DVD.

sorry i lurked yesterday for a moment and then forgot to check back in and post.  I have had no gain or loss I am stuck on 159.8  ugh!! oh well all is good! I will keep trucking along.  As for exercise I walk at least 5 miles a night at work since I am a nurse on 11-7 and I'm up and down the halls all night.  I remember when I first started back it killed me to be on my feet all night for an 8 hr shift but not so much anymore.  My muscles no longer get sore.  Oh and Weds morning we had a tornado siren go off for a warning and we had to pull beds out into the halls with pts in them and get them up into w/c's and walk them out into the halls all in the middle of the morning med pass... what fun we had!! then we had to put it all back at 10 mins before time to go home.  and Weds night into Thurs morning I pulled a double shift... yep I worked 16 hrs straight! I did and 11-7 and a 7-3  then I came home and slept for 14 hrs.  LOL!!

Wow! You must have a lot of stamina, Mimi.  I have been lazy this morning and have yet to get out of bed to try out my knees and hips since yesterday's incident.  I will be cleaning house and doing some aerobic vacuuming.  Burn a colorie or two hopefully.

I felt we'll enough to go to the movies today but really got a dose of reality when I hardly had the body strength to push myself out of the theatre chair.

I have got to get in shape over the next 2 months to be prepared for surgery!

The AC regimen left me almost bed bound. Now on the taxol, which I far easier forme so far, I can begin to get active again. I bought a cheap pedometer to keep track of each step I walk and am going to start keeping track and exceeding each days steps as much as possible.

I see the bs and ps next week and am going to ask about specific kinds of exercises for pre-surgery (BMX) and reconstruction.

Today I added more to my walking and I feel better. I also am eating so much better. I went to the grocery store today and when I unloaded my groceries I realized the majority of what I bought was fruits and vegetables. I can't give up my half a Hershey dark chocolate bar after dinner yet. But I've never eaten this well in my life!

I've been under the weatehr the past 24 hours and it has shown on the scale.  I am sure it might be some dehydration so I won't hope to keep it at this point but it feels good to see a weight in the 160s for once. FOur pounds in 5 days isn't normal weight loss.

Meece, sorry you've been ill, you're right, that's not normal weight loss.  Drink!

I know how good it feels to see yourself below a goal weight (except mine's 170).

Just below that for Weds Weigh-In this morning.....

Renee, 16 hours!  OMG how do you do it - vats of coffee?

Peggy, a bit of extra-dark chocolate each day is actually good for you YAY!

    I posted to a thread I haven't visited for a year, saw I've walked 1,154 since Feb 2012.

    Love my pedometer!

Meece, hope you are feeling better.  Hi everyone.

    Posting disclaimer now because:

    1) spent last 10 days touring Israel and ate myself silly!

    2) spent 12-hours on flight last night arriving at 6am this morning and have not slept yet so I'm delusional; been up 20 hours so I can type this (barely) and use as an excuse.
