Like I said on 2013 survivors:
Woo hoo! Pocket Road Trip! Ladies we have a busy traveling week ahead of us! I'll bring the drinks! Key lime pie martini s all around!
Karen -
Ok Karen you got my attention at "key lime pie martinis". Is that a drink? And if yes please give me the recipe.
-
I agree Joanne... need the recipe for that one.
-
Count me in on the martini recipe. I tried the caramel apple martinis last year, this sounds just as tasty.
-
Ladies, ladies....you're killing me here!!!!!! does WW consider this a fruit???
Is your cheerleader supposed to cheer on the fact we're all into martinis now????....lol
Oh, I'm going to get kicked off this thread for sure!!!! Hope the 2013 survivors will still
let me in there???? 😜 -
Scottie: limes are a fruit... if made with vodka, surely that is wheat.
And dont forget how many sisters on this thread are also on the 2013 Survivors thread.. ha ha !!
iatigger... and caramel apple martinis sound divine as well.
-
oh carmel apple sounds good. Will have to put that on my birthday party wish list!
Seriously I am so looking forward to my 40th birthday. All I want is the sand, waves, lobster and some champagne!
-
OMG. ....girls.....there's no hope 😱
-
peeling feet! yes, I couldn't believe the big chunks coming off and I wasn't even doing anything. Fortunately not painful (as my fingernails were....)
KJ, sending good vibes your way.
-
So I don't exactly "measure" so it's some of each poured into shaker with ice. Strain and enjoy!
Pineapple juice
Key lime juice
Half and half (not too much)
Birthday cake flavored vodka (depends how strong you like it)
If you can't find the birthday cake one you can use vanilla vodka. I love this one and I love Carmel appletinis too!
Ok ladies better stop before our cheerleaders beat us with their pompoms! -
Looks like a party is going on here. lol Martinis are the drink of choice?
-
might as well....
-
Scottie: close your eyes... we're having a martini party.
-
Ok, here's a whine about wine. My sleep is so ragged and alcohol seems to make it worse. My sleep has not been great since menopause... And now this Aromasin is making me wake up because of pain and achiness etc. I'm going to ask my Onc Thursday how often I can take Ambien. Am gong to try Tylenol pm this weekend. Last night i roamed to two beds and a Lazyboy to try to get comfortable...and sleep. Hope this gets better!!
-
Oh! Lisa hugs.... there is nothing worse than broken sleep.. or no sleep. Not on Aromasin so have no answers for you. An old wives tale says that if you place a small lavendar sachet under your pillow it will enhance sleep.
-
Lisa I am right there with you on the sleep..I have a prescription for ambein but the ins co will only pay for 10 pills every 25 days. Amazing! They also gave me restol so that helps some but i am still up most nights
-
Wait, there is such a thing as birthday cake vodka? For real? I need to get out more.
Lisa2012, don't know if you can take thisbut Benadryl (allergy medicine) is a good sleep aid. Lower power than Ambien, but not a controlled substance and I would think not addictive.
For all of you still doing chemo, hang in there! It really does end! -
Kjiberty, hoping for a good outcome for you today.
Lisa, I hear you about not sleeping, and I hope you find something that works. To not sleep well is really the pits, and it affects the rest of your day so negatively. Have you tried Melatonin?
-
Some people have a wine fridge I have a vodka freezer! There is also fruit loop flavored! I walk into the store and see them all and wish I could buy them all! So many flavors so little time. I say that about ice cream too!
I still have broken sleep. My dr. gave me ativan for during chemo to counteract the steroids that caused the insomnia but don't really want to take if I don't have to. Think I will try the melatonin. Can't hurt right?
-
So for some reason my hands have swelled up during this last round of chemo on 1/23..Today I feel like the chemo is kicking my ass..also my fingers are feeling some numbness...all in all i feel like crap....I guess in the long term though I have felt pretty good on taxol but now am feeling it. Sorry for the down post i also feel very scattered brain today and I am at work
-
!!!!!...your are so going to be getting BIG bills for my massage therapy....all this talk of booze is really doing a number on my back, which apparently is where I carry all my STRESS....BTW....I do believe this is weigh in day!!!!!.....😎
-
Lexie Ann, sorry to hear this has been a rough round. The numbness sounds like neuropathy, but I am not sure about swelling. Did you talk to your doc?
-
yes i spoke to them and they saw me on Wednesday. It seems that this batch of taxol has a diff rent inactive ingredient and i am having an reaction to it.
-
Lexie Ann ..sorry I missed your post.....hope you will start to feel better soon. I did not have chemo, but maybe some of the other gals will come on for support.
-
Thanks, Ladies. I was glad to have you in my pocket. Biopsy went fine. The lorazapam really helped. I was not stressed at all. I saw the spots of concern. I will know the results on Monday. The radiologist was cautiously optimistic, which gives me peace of mind.
-
karen, my MO gave me Ativan as I was having so much trouble sleeping through the night and went to dark places when I woke up. She said we would worry about weaning me off it later. I take only .5 mg most nights and take the odd night off. I took Melatonin a few times and had actual nightmares twice and once woke up with swollen hands. I think I will try again but honestly the bad dreams were awful!
kjiberty, keep us posed for sure on the results.
-
Karen....cautiously optimistic is a good thing to hold on to....hang in there and take a deep breath...as Marian said, please keep us posted. ❤
-
Thanks, Ladies. On a positive note, I am posting a pic of my hair 7 months PFC. All chemo curl.
-
Karen.....wow...I'm soooo jealous. Your hair is gorgeous!!!!! I have lost so much thanks to Letrozole...lol.....could you send me a few curls PLEASE!!!!!
-
Scottie--No problem. It's very thick too! I have gotten in trimmed 4 times since PFC. Mostly on the sides so it looks like a "hairstyle". I get a ton of compliments on it. I guess you could say it's the most expensive "perm" I have ever gotten!
