wesbister, we all understand your position, you have tried so hard so far thank you from all of us.
It is a week since her last post so if she is being looked after it is going to take at least that long to build her up again.
It just seems longer when she isn't popping on here each day.
How is your poor son ? That is a nasty op, Mum used to say teeth are trouble coming and going. x

liefie, sure when it feels so horrible it has got to be working lol.
My 85 year old friend is in South Africa for about six weeks hope she isn't too hot.x

Carla/Dalots  3-4 hr infusions !! you are awesome. Hope you both ok xx

Wow....two beauties snuggling on the couch! Edi, you and hubby look so cute, and you can see the love he has for you in his eyes. Pj's need no apologies.....most comfy things ever invented! Thanks for that photo.

2 loaves of bread doing their final rise, then it's bake time. Should be just about ready for the breakfast the Traii promised us!

Dakota and Carla, you should be getting to the end of today's tx. Rock on ladies, but be gentle to yourself too.

Websister....I totally get the reluctance to pursue info about Benny. You have to be very protective of your position. It is frustrating sometimes when the best of intentions can be turned around to look like something more sinister, but that is today's world.

Figures, the weather finally warms up, and I'm stuck inside waiting for the bread to rise. Oh well, getting some laundry, etc. done. Hope to get out later, and am planning another snowshoe this weekend. Going to try to test the shoulders on something a little more challenging and might spot some moose, as it is in their favorite playground area.

Edi, how are the "yucks" doing? Any better today????

oops, forgot to add....Websister, the swans stop here during their spring migration, and are usually a mix of trumpeter and tundra swans. Of course, it usually doesn't feel like spring to me, when they're here. You can almost always count on them at Frank Lake, which is East of High River, there is a "pond" around the Cochrane area, (can't remember the name at the moment), and also you can see them often at Lac des Arc, on the drive up to Banff. The Calgary area is actually on the migration routes of lots of birds, so there is quite a variety passing through at different times of the year.

Edi, you and DH look so cozy together - lovely photo!

Nihahi, our swans are still here. Spring is still a way off it seems. . . Speaking of bread, I baked two loaves of multigrain bread on Sunday. Was supposed to divide dough in two, roll out each just a little, and then roll it up before putting it on the pan (French loaf style). I missed that part of the instructions, put both pieces on the same pan, and ended up with one very large French flatbread - LOL. Not what I had envisioned, but it tasted good. Immediately froze the rest as to not be tempted.

Traii, you truly are like sister Sunshine, always upbeat, always bubbly. Let us know how your little boy is doing in school - lots of funny stories to come for sure.

Did a gentle yoga class this morning, and immediately afterwards a 40 minute abs and butt 'boot camp' where you get chased round a circuit with 20 stations where you do an exercise for one minute, then move on to the next one. Maybe I'm too old for this - still catching my breath an hour later. Have to get the laundry done, and the house tidy. We're going away tomorrow to attend DS's grad ceremony on Saturday afternoon. It ends with a fancy dinner/dance which we will attend with all our children and their partners. Hope the band will play some nice 60's rock and roll too - not very likely. The graduate students are all in their 20's, and its their party, so the old geezers will have to watch from the side . . . we've had our turn, I guess? Lol.

Carla and Dakota, how are you two doing?

Nihahi - the bread was perfect! The smell alone heavenly but then the taste .... I added a cheese omelette, lots more where that came from so let me know and I'll whip up some more for whoever wants it.

Edi - love the picture. My first thought was just like Nihahi's - he loves you so much, so nice to see

Traii - I remember those first days - I bet DS did wonderfully and he'll be bringing home all sorts of his masterpieces for you to put on the fridge and around the house :)

I have been out to a book club this a.m. and picking up the equipment for my Mom this afternoon with a check-in at lunch time to assess and feed Kenny. He is doing so well, thank you all for asking. Apparently the teeth came out easily, he has very little swelling or pain, I have had him wrapped up in ice a few times, he'd be very upset if I posted any pictures.

Mom is going back to the lodge on Tuesday, I am so pleased that I have that much notice, when I called about the equipment yesterday they still didn't have a wheelchair for us but today when I went for the commode and walker, there was a wheelchair waiting beside them and we have them for 6 months. The staff at the rehab facility and now the Red Cross (equipment provision) have been wonderful!

Nihahi and Liefie - love reading about the swans, I was very enchanted by Swan Lake as a girl, also the Ugly Duckling story.

Liefie - enjoy your weekend with all of your family, what a proud moment for you and DH

Websister, so glad to hear Kenny is doing well, and that everything for your mom is falling so nicely into place. Must feel good. I saw Swan Lake, the ballet, as a 13-year old girl, and was in a trance for days and weeks afterwards. Those wonderfully elegant swan ballerinas, and that handsome prince . . . oh my goodness! Also loved the Ugly Duckling as a child - such a great lesson in that story. These old classics certainly never lose their power to charm us, and still gives such pleasure to this day.

Edi hope you feel better. Love the pic of you and DH on Christmas morning!

Nihahi I take my coffee black, and I would love a Timmy's apple fritter or chocolate long john! Sounds like we are going to have fun.

Websister I understand your position. Benny will come back to us when she is able, I do not believe she would hurt herself. She has too much to be here for, She loves her Diamond and Benny.

Benny we can hardly wait to hear from you girl! Some adventure you must be on!

Traii I checked out gummy sharks....they are big, does your DH fish his own or do you buy it at the market?

    Everyone have a great day

Back from playing outside. Went for a long walk, almost 7 km. So nice to be outside when it isn't painfully cold. Glad you guys liked the bread......but who left the trail of bread crumbs on the counter????? Hmmmm...do I smell cheese, and bacon??????

Websister, so nice to hear things have fallen into place for your Mom. How thoughtful of your son to have been an easy extraction, and a good patient, too.

Liefie, you're doing us all to exhaustion....are you training for the Olympics - Yikes! If you can do what you do, you're definitely not too old for anything!

Bearcub...your Timmie's request is very fitting, since it's Timmie's coffee in the thermos!

Hope Dakota and Carla are home, snug and safe and resting. Edi...still feeling ok???? Traii....we all want to hear the preschool stories. Your frig door will never look the same again, as it now is going to be an art gallery of your ds creations!

    And of course, Benny...(((((((X)))))))

ahh, such an eventful morning, retail therapy and then pre-school.....we had to stay there today for the first day.., DS didnt care if we were there or gone because he was having too much fun playing on the swings and stuff outside....he thought he was fireman sam on the pole and was showing the other kids what to arghh feel sorry for his teachers! lol

Bearcub, my DH doesn't catch the gummy shark, I buy that from the fish market, it would probably eat him alive if he did go to catch one...lol they are huge ! nice fish though. The last time he went fishing, he got a speeding fine, cost $238 dollars and I told him he could have bought lots of fish with that and a new fishing rod ( he came home with no fish that day) .... lol

Dakota, glad you had a good sleep, despite us girls chatting away in your pockets, we just couldnt quiet down Nihahi today, think it was all the Kalhua she put in that coffee.....and her breakfast ! lol....

Bread was yummy Nihahi, I could do another couple of slices with that bacon and eggs, though I could do a Chocolate Long john right about now for mid arvo snack!!

Carlads, hope you had a nap too and you are doing ok.

Lol, Websister, I don't think Kenny would appreciate photos up here of him......you definetely wouldn't win 'mum of the year' lol......glad your mum will be back at the lodge soon, kenny will be up and running and you can concentrate on moving forward again as you are and continue to do :)

Edi, any orders for cakes this week or you taking it easy ? Worked out well that the plumbers didn't come to do up your new bathroom .... I'm hoping today is better and you are having a great dream in sleepy land right now :)

Well i'm going to do some house work before venturing out for dinner with DH DS, my cousin and her DH & DD....off to the pub

Hope you are all having an eventful day xx

    Morning/afternoon/evening dear sisters. x

Traii, you and I posted exactly same time yesterday and I  missed about DS and pre school.
He sounds such fun. Strong little character like his lovely Mum.
My DS was terrible when he went. Cried buckets, one day ,we had a phone call, he had escaped ! The little man had climbed on a chair and opened the main front door then trotted off down the path towards home. School was on a busy main road and they found him just before he crossed a busy junction.
They had to put a bolt on the top of the door after that. No one had ever done that before. Ironically he became a nursery school teacher when he left college.
Drinking quite a lot of water about half a litre with each pill, lots of tea throughout the day, is that enough ?Se's seem bit easier this morning except slight trots TMI sorry that went on all day yesterday too Frown
No cake order this week but big project for March 18th cake in red and black for a young lady. What happened to pastel colours ?
Hope you had a lovely time at the pub x

Liefie, More tasty bread yum. Hope DS ceremony goes well and they do some 60's music. x

Websister, could just manage a cheese omelette please. Kenny sounds like a great patient.
News on Mum fabulous, hope move back to lodge goes really well for her x

Dakota, hope se's ok ?one more sooo jealous.
How lovely that DS is a Moma's boy, that will never change.I adore my boy and even though girls are wonderful there is something a bit special about a son. x

Nihahi, Ok what is a Timmie please ? glad you had a good walk I am out of breath reading about it.
Re swan lake, wonderful magical ballet. When I was about six I was watching it on our black and white tv and announced to my Mum that the prince had no pants on !Those ballet tights have a lot to answer for lol x

Luv to all sisters, porridge just arrived, laters xx

    Night out was good fun.

DS is a lively character!!  we were just talking about him imaginig if he tried to escape or do something crazy like that...lol can't believe your son actually did that...what a shock that would have been for you.....my DS is full of adventure. It scares the crap out of me!

Not TMI for me darling.....You want TMI, too much gas for me....lol even DS and DH can't believe it....lol...whoops I just tell DH...oh its all part of it hunny !! Wink

You are drinking lots....thats good....I am too actually getting over the peeing bit, just when I'm all relaxed on the couch...bam....gotta go to the loo....!

Hope you enjoyed your porrige , well its about lunch time there so I'm sure you will be out and about by now hoping its  a day full of sunshine and minimal SE's for you. xx

Traii, Hope your DS doesn't do the escape bit either, it WAS real scarey. He always looked like and angel but was a little devil. Once when th ice cream van came I told them Mummy didn't have enough money for ices.
Five minutes later he comes into the garden clutching three cones. When asked where he got money he from he said " In your purse, you told a fib, you did have money ! "
That was all I had and was to pay for bread and milk.
Just one of the joys of being a Mummy lol.
Porridge lovely, appetite gone again but the up side is I have lost 17 pounds and gone down 2 sizes. Hope it stays off when this is all over.
How's your arm ? glad excercises work Smile
Got a baby shower Sunday so going to try and make a diaper cake, will keep me out of mischief for a few days.
DH just gone for shed stuff. Doing re roof tomorrow as it is supposed to be fine.
Hope you have a good weekend xx

Just a quick message before I am off for the Neulasta injection, yesterday went well.  Had all of you there with me!

I think you all will get a kick out of this, my white count was out of the box HIGH!  They are almost certain it is the shot that cause my headache last time so they are lowering the dose.  Hope it helps..

Incredible sunrise here this morning!!! Must mean it'll be a good day for us all.

Edi, Timmies is the nickname of Tim Horton's. That is a MAJOR coffee "shop" based in Canada, but starting to branch out into the States as well. If you drink coffee in Canada, basically you're either a fan of Timmies or Starbucks. Tim's is cheaper, and OF COURSE, the better coffee. They also sell lots of donuts, muffins, sandwiches, etc.

Keep a close eye on hubby while he is doing the repair work. Men+ladders+hammers.....don't go there!

My son (now 29) sounds alot like the ds's of you guys. Entertaining, but exhausting. I sometimes wonder how I ever dared close my eyes to sleep!

Carla, it would be awesome if dialing back on the drug could keep your headache away. I'm really hoping it works for you!

There is no TMI for us ladies. By this time, it feels like everyone and their dog has looked at, poked at, squeezed, drawn on, photographed and talked about my boobs. Of course, with the recon coming up, the stomach pouch is now part of the party!

Got a bit of a slow start this morning...must have had too much kahlua waiting for Dakota to wake up. Oh well, it was worth it! Have a good one everybody!!!!!!

Carla, so glad you are doing so well - keep up that white cell count!

Edi, Timmies is Tim Horton's, a lovely Canadian coffee-and-doughnut franchise with outlets in almost every town, a real Canadian tradition. They sell soups, sandwiches, wraps etc. too, and their food is always fresh and delicious. You are melting away - hope there is something left of you when you're done!

My sons once ran away from home on their tricycles, if you can believe that. They were four and two years old at the time, and wanted to buy matches to make a fire . . . They crossed a very busy road on their way to the store, bought one box of matches with the 5 cents that they got from somewhere, and the police found them on their way back home. By that time the whole town was looking for them. I am sure I had aged ten years in those few hours that they were missing - naughty little rascals! I found the box of matches the next day hidden in a pillow on the two year-old's bed. Little boys are so unpredictable and adventurous, and one has to be wide awake. Needless to say we kept the gates locked at all times after that experience - phew!

    Have a good weekend everybody!

Good morning, everyone. Glad it wasn't just me that had the slow start this a.m.. we'll have to watch the kahlua next pocket party; all your fault, Nihahi ;)

Carlads - hope the reduction in dose prevents the headache this time, great WBC!

Traii - re: gas - so that was you ;)

Edi - omelet on the way, hope it helps settle the stomach some for you

Having had four boys, I have stories!!! Wonder I ever was able to close my eyes! Our library made a new rule that parents had to stay in the room with their children during storytimes or other children's activities due to Kenny (age 3) looking out the window, seeing a car like ours and thinking my husband had driven away and left him there; he panicked and ran down three flights of stairs and out the door into traffic, screaming the whole time. Not a typical library scene and it didn't happen again, but part of the joy of story time for me used to be browsing the books alone while my boys were being occupied. We weren't popular with the other parents either!

Off to see Mom and do a little shopping this afternoon; have a good day everyone.

This appetite loss is horrible, I love food but eat just to keep  going not because I enjoy any of it.x

    Dakota, r u ok ? x

nihahi, Timmies sounds great HATE Starbucks, especially since it seems they have paid no taxes here. Big outcry and now they are paying back 20 million pounds over next few years. Too late according to most people.
DH got all stuff for roof so that is tomorrow boxed off, will surround shed with something soft and hope he doesn't hit fingers ( won't be first time ).lol. x

liefie, glory be, thought my DS was a tinker ! You must have been in bits. Good job the matches didn't get used too.
I always embarass my DS by telling his two girls the stories of his exploits, payback time lol x

Off to make a shepherds pie, which will look lovely and taste like yuk. Come back tastebuds all is forgiven.

Hang in there Edi, food will once again become lovely for you. Did this food issue start for you with the new chemo meds? I was only on the drugs you are on now, and like you, food meant nothing to me. (and I loved food before that). I am 5'6", and lost tons of weight during chemo too. At my lightest, I was down to 99 lbs.Probably was around 120 pre chemo. I was always  thin, before, but that weight loss was scary for me. Probably why I felt such deep exhaustion too. The weight does come back, once the "Yucky" part of chemo is over. I was cautioned to be careful and not put on too much weight too quickly once I started the tamoxifen. Don't really remember why the caution was given. Before the latest issues with the implant arose, I had developed the little post-menopause pouch that most women get. Now, ironically, I am watching the tummy seem to dissolve in front of my eyes, and I worry, because that is going to be my new breast! The surgeon is going to likely do a "tweak" to my natural breast to give me symmetry, and at this point, I'm going to be a AAAcup! I guess the bright side is I won't be one of those older women whose boobs hang down below their waist!

Going out now to play in the sunshine.

nihahi, yes this worse with cmf, not wonderful with the epi but could at least face food. Thanks for letting me know it will get better. Four lots of this and I might vanish too. Gosh you did get thin, I am just a nice weight now for my height.
You defo don't want to lose that tummy Smile
Enjoy the sunshine, DH pinting wood for shed roof edging, he is doing it in the back room as dark and cold outside praying that he doesn't kick the paint tin over. He is a bit accident prone x
