Tis true Dance. We need estrogen. We can't have it, but, we need it.

I added this thread to my favorites, but was afraid to come in until I was PFC. Here I am!  Still have rads and Herceptin to go, but I am ready to live life!

January - I have some peach fuzz that is very blonde on my face, think for now I am just going to wait and see if it goes away.

I agree. I am Greek so I have always had a mustache, but now it is back with a vengeance! I think I will be visiting a doctor to have it removed. I also have little hairs growing around my mouth and under my lower lip! Ugh! I am afraid I am turning into the missing link :-(

Roula:  I had laser hair removal of the mustache about 5 years ago.  I get a few random hairs (I need a touchup), but it's one of the best things I have ever done!

Re: facial hairs: have also noticed them, and just tried plucking a few. All I can say is OOWWWW!!! what we have to go through.

Planning to start my tamoxifen this week. I think. Maybe.

I had my whole lower face waxed. Basically in the beard mustache area. Thanks cancer. Owie! But worth it.

    Stacie~
Please keep us posted on how it comes back in.  I'm curious if it will be less, lighter, darker, softer,  coarse.., etc.  You are so brave!  Smile

I get my hair cut/color/mani pedi and face wax monthly. I don't let it grow back much. Cleans out my pours and feels very smooth and soft. Costs $25 and worth it. Ouch though! I do my face first and then a pedi/mani w massage so the painful part is over and then just chilling.

C-Squared:  I am geting my face "micro-planed"  mid-January.  She told me it removes the hair for about a month and is less harsh on the skin.  I do't know how much it's going to cost, but I am sure a wax will be cheaper.  My sister gets her hair threaded.  It's pretty painful, but effective and cheap.

I noticed white peach fuzz like hair on my cheeks too shortly after chemo. I didn't do anything with it and it has diminished some. I have long white whiskers that I pluck off my chin along with my normal dark whiskers. I am hoping that the hair continues to go away. I also noticed that my eyebrows are thining out some. I am wondering if that is from the tamoxifen.

I am new to this thread & I was reading some of the discussion back in July/aug about sleeping problems & emotions & I can sure relate. But I am curios that was a little while ago....has it gotten better? PTSD I have heard of the connection & it seems that time is the best healer. I have friends who are survivors of a 1 or more years & they all say it gets better.

Hi nofear2012!!!  I don't come here too often to post but I'm still hanging around the BCO discussion boards.  I am 4/12 months PFC and can tell you that things do get better as I continue to heal and recover from all that has happened this past year.  As I tell anyone who asks me what have I learned from this past year, I tell them that a positive attitude and strong desire to keep moving forward are the two things that have enabled me to come out the other side.  I can't say where these two things originate from but I have found an inner peace and calm that continues to help carry me through the good and not so good times.   No matter what, it is all good!!!  HUGS to you!!!

Hi Melrose - nice to see your post. I loved what you said!  I agree, a positive attitude and my desire to get it done helped me a lot!  I learned I am much stronger than I thought I was.

Hugs to all and Happy New Year!

Hi Kim-- I've been thinking about you lately and wondered how you were doing.  I love your picture.... your hair has really come back great looking.  My hair has come back evenly (thank goodness) and now looks like a very short short boy hair cut.  I saw my onco a few weeks ago and she asked me where I had gotten my hair cut at.  I started laughing and told her that it had grown back like this (evenly) and this is the most expensive haircut and skin exfoliation treatment that I've ever had!!!  I thought it was going to come back all grey but it is coming back black and a little more grey than I had before chemo.  You just never know about that hair!!!    One of these days, we will meet up at Whole Foods (Bellaire) for coffee.  Wishing you a very Happy New Year!!!!

Thanks Karen - it has been a bit crazy lately, my dad is very ill and trying to take care of him and the finances etc etc. Aging parents are never fun, but I'm glad I am here to help!

Melrose - coffee in the new year!

Hi Melrose & On Vacation, Happy New Year.  We were on TC4 together and I've been wondering how you have been.

My hair is back too, curlier than ever.  You just never know.  I decided to go blonde for a while versus my brown hair tinged with gray.  It works for now, I can always change it thanks to magic in  a bottle.

Had my 1st mammo and sono last week (post treatments) and have to go for a biopsy in my right breast tomorrow.  The radiologist picked up something in the ultrasound, so here we go again.  13 months after the 1st biopsy, followed by lumpectomy, chemo and rads....I feel like I'm living a nightmare all over again.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Be well, happy new year, good health & much happiness to all!

    Diane

Diane, I can only imagine how nervous you must be but sending good thoughts and prayers your way for it to be nothing!!   My hair is coming back also, but really the same as it was before so far!  :)  I want to color it but nervous on that front too!!  Be sure and let us know Diane!!

Summer51- Hope all is well with you.  I'm still having Herceptin infusions every 3 weeks because of the B-47 Herceptin clinical trial I'm in.  I already had my first mammogram/US on righty and an onco check up a few weeks ago.  So far everything looks okay.  My hair is growing ever so slowly but it is coming back... just a little grayer.  No chemo curls yet; but who knows what this hair will do.  Let me know how your biopsy went.  No matter what, we will continue to hold hands and walk together.  You can always private message me if you want to chat more!!!  HUGS and sending you lots of positive calming and healing prayers, thoughts and energy!  Cool

Hi ladies!  Today is my one year cancerversary!  So happy that year is behind me!  My hair is coming back, no curls and no gray - just short!  Taking forever to grow, specially the bang area.  Oh well, it is hair and I'm thankful!

Hope everyone is trying to make 2013 a great year!  Hugs to ya'll!

    Summer51:

I have the SAME issue.  Biopsy tomorrow.  I will keep you in my prayers.  Got the mammo on my one-year anniversary.  They found a cluster of calcifications in the "good" breast.  The docs are erring on the side of caution. XOXO
