my MO said to let him know if the blood was a different color than usual. Bright red was especially to be noted...

I got a couple of periods after starting Tamoxifein, but nothing for the last 6 months.

As I read your post Scottie I laughed and thought "lady you are so busted"... turned the page and saw that you were....ha ha ha!!    Although I have heard that dark chocolate and wine are good antioxidants (then again that could just be the voices in my head telling me that Smile).

Just watching my footie team on the tv (soccer to you in the US/Canada) then I am going to do some housecleaning then we are off out for a friends belated birthday supper - although they haven't decided on a restaurant yet ??  And then, I want to catch up with all your posts.

    Wishing you well xxxxxxxx

Karen - no not on any hormonals as I am er/pr negative. The good news is my period finally came to en end almost 11 days after it started. Talked to my MO and she says she is not worried about it. It is my body trying to regulate itself again. Great, so now I will have to go thru the menopause symptoms all over again! Cancer sucks!

First post.  Took forever from discovering lump to final staging.

Diagnosed 11/21/12 = Stage 2a IDC, areas of DCIS in both breasts, Stage 2a IDC in left.

BMX 12/11/12 (widely clear margins except small spot with only a 1mm clearance on DCIS)

Left axillary node dissection (widely clear margins) = 2 positive nodes with "Extranodal extension" 1.4 and 1.2 cm.

Docs can't agree on radiation becuase of extranodal extensions and the 1mm margin on DCIS

Starting Chemo in a week 1/21/13 =  AC (4 @ 2wks) then TH weekly for 12 weeks. then Herceptin every 3 weeks for the rest of the year, then hormone blockers.

CT showed 2 spots on liver (quite possibly mets), 1 spot in a rib (50/50 mets) and two in kidney (probably not mets).

Sometimes scared, sometimes positive.  Blessed with family, friends and synagogue community that are INCREDIBLY supportive.

Welcome chanah:  sorry you had to join the club no one wants to be in but you wont find a more comforting, supporting group of ladies - this is your safe haven.  Anything here goes - no one judges and we all get it.     So happy to hear you have a great support network around you.   If the 'spots' are mets, lets hope the chemo kicks them into touch too.

Welcome Chana. Just want to second Tazzy's post. I don't post much, but love the laughter and the encouragement that I get from reading this and several other boards.

Welcome Chanah like Tazzy said sorry you had to find yourself here but this is a great group. We're all here for you so don't hesitate to laugh, cry, scream, vent you name it, it's ok. This dang disease brings out every emotion we have at one time or another. So glad you are surrounded by such a great support group.

Just returned from a follow up appt with my MO.  Blood counts are perfect and I even lost 8 pounds since last visit!! (The week before Thanksgiving!!)
The only question I had for her was what she thought of the 10 Tamoxifen study and we talked about that and also a previous study and it is defintely something we will address in the future.  They've also done a study and shown there is a benefit of doing 5 years Tamoxifen and then 5 years of Arimidex which is most probably what I am looking at because of my age.
Sure is nice to be getting good news/reports from Dr's Smile

She also said not to count out the chemo curls yet... my hair is only about 1 1/2" long and it may take more length for them to show.  I'm just lovin this short stuff tho. (Always had short hair, but never like this.) It's a perfect pixie and omg is it soft.

PAeaglesFan, enjoy your pixie while it lasts. Had one myself, but then chemo curl kicked in, and now I have an unruly, bewildering mop of curls. I have had one haircut so far, and will be getting the second one next week. Hopefully I can have a cute pixie again.

Scottiee, best wishes for the results tomorrow. Next week it's my turn.

Chana, welcome here. It's tough, but you have a wonderful support in these ladies. Hugs to you!

Welcome Chana and others to the best place to discover on the internet after diagnosis!!!   Stay away from all the stuff that will just scare you and usually it isn't good information anyway.  You can get answers to anything here from all these wonderful ladies!

Myself, I am wearing HUGE pockets and I would love to take all of you with me for my LAST chemo tomorrow!  Smile   This is the first time that my blood work has so many flagged low numbers (WBC/3.1, RBC/2.9, HB/97, HCT/.28 and Neutrophils/1.6 but MO is pushing ahead so must not be too low I guess.   I was lucky on the last round and other than being completely exhausted (still am) the side effects were easier.  No fevers or blood clots or anything worse than the bone pain associated with the Nuepogen shots like before.   My fingers are crossed this last Taxotere will go smoothly too.  I was especially surprised to see my Neutrophil numbers down since I do the injections ... usually they are high!   Maybe it is a good thing that this is my last round ... the ol body must be getting tired of it all.

Scottie ... good luck tomorrow ... we're all with you!

I love the discussions of hair!  I know that's a ways off for me but it's fun to hear your happy stories.

    Hugs xox

Halfcan, hopefully you will be like me. I had almost no SE's after my last T/C infusion. Maybe it was just because I was so happy to be done with chemo, but it was wonderful. Best wishes!

Woot! Thanks for being in my pockets ladies! I hung on to you while I was dancing my way out of there so I didn't shake you out. Lol. All went well...no trouble with my port this time either. Went to IHOP for celebratory breakfast and then to pharmacy to pick up Nuepogen for Friday start of shots. Ha...they wanted $1050 bucks! What? Found out extended medical paid max and new deductable starting for PharmaCare (Canadian medical system). Trying to get sorted with extended and will see what they say tomorrow. If my WBC and nuetrophils were not already below normal I would say skip them since it is my last chemo but kinda nervous due to that. But on the side of screwed up system.... if I get a fever hospital stay is free. Anyway, for today I am celebrating!!! Thanks gals, love you all. Xox

Halfcan, I may have a few Neupogens you can have. I knew about the deductible starting again and so doubled up on everything I needed in December. I got a few extra not knowing if I would need 5, 6 or 7 for my last cycles. I am doing 5 this cycle and then one more cycle and if all is well 5 also.
