I've been running IE9 for sometime and don't have a problem.  I also have both Chrome and Mozilla (Firefox) on my PC and will use one of them for some sites - but I usualy use IE.  I've always heard good things about Apple, but I had such a problem with Steve Jobs (I simply couldn't stand his arrogance nor his treatment of employees) that I just have always had issues with the idea of using his products.  I don't doubt that he was a genius, but that doesn't give one a right to scream at people (IMHO).

Here's a pic of my grandkids at the airport in Kona...

Happy new year to all! I'm not sure that Medicare freeloaders are permitted new years but I'll just go ahead and have me one, anyway.

I'm so very grateful and fortunate to have this comfy space and you wonderful people with whom to share it. Everyday stories of humor, medical news both good and bad, discoveries of shared interests and introductions to new ones...all are invaluable to me and I treasure them as I treasure each of you. I love you guys.

With sincerest wishes for a 2013 of happiness, peace, and prosperity for all of us, to US!

You mean you haven't received your gifts, E? Wow ... My gift is coming on June 1, I just know it! Maybe it is because you are on Medicare and Medicare took your gifts?

Happy New Year, all (even Medicare recipients)! This is the first day of the year in which I will retire. On Friday, I made an appointment for my next cardiologist appointment in June - the first appointment I have made that will fall after I retire. It was delightful!

Libby ... if you were a proper freeloader you would make that appointment before you retire and use sick leave.  Just saying ...

Happy New Year everybody!  A toast to you all ... and to many more conversations here in our own little corner of the world.

I take exception to that........does disagreeing get me banned or censured? Or maybe just chuckled at.

I plan a fun year, last week I found out my former employer drop kicked my insurance provider out of their realm and unceremoniously assigned me to BC/BS as of today. First appt is tomorrow. Medicare will catch up with me this summer. This should be a heck of a good time.

I'm sorry-I can't agree with anyone from Canada. That would diminish me as an American. Tongue Out

WR & HL - but it would matter if HL took S/L and it turned a full month into a partial one.  I'm wrestling with the temporary service deposit right now.  I can pay $3200 to get $25 a month more.  At first glance, doesn't seem worth it, but if you think of that as an annuity, that's a pretty good interest rate in today's world.  And ofcourse, that amount gets compounded with COLAs.  I'm not sure "they bet you're going to die" versus "I bet I'm going to live" applies here, since that principle might be inheritable, should I not last the full 310 months my contributions are amortized over for pay out.  Do you guys know?

Between snow and holidays, I've barely spoken with a retirement counselor and I have 2 days left!

Enjoyful, I guess I'm a Medicare freeloader too. My DH changed jobs on August 1. He had already given notice at his old job, and I was dx 4 days before we lost our major medical.

The job didn't work out, and he's been working temp work since then for virtual peanuts.

He has an interview this Friday, and it looks promising.

    Blessings

    Chickadee -

I went on Medicare beginning December 1 and it's been an unending nightmare of...nothing. No paperwork, no red tape, no dumping doctors, no problems. I don't get it.

E - seems people are making summary judgements on deleted posts they've never even read.     Canadians, it seems, need to crawl back into the hole from which they came.  Glad your freeloading is going so easy. Cool

Kam ... I don't know anything about temporary service deposits.  But maybe you can find some info here -  http://www.opm.gov/retire/pre/index.asp

Hope the potential job comes through for your hubby Paula.
