Guilty of listening to Bobby Sherman  "Julie, Julie, Julie do you love me?"  "Julia" by the Flatlanders.  Nat King Cole-what a voice.  Tony Bennett.  Anyone remember "One Tin Soldier".  It was a surprise when my daughters discovered it and loved it for the lyrics.

Chickadee; just wondering - were you in D.C. for the 1971 march against the war in Vietnam?  I was a freshman in college, and just have vague memories of walking and then sleeping in the park to the sound of rock music.

While we wait for Chick to answer....

permission to commission a quick vote.....

I am looking for a bag I can take to my club to work out before or after work. It has to fit my gym things and also serve as a purse and look ok to walk with in a business environmenyt (albeit for seconds in the morning and evening). Hence the size. So this poll is purely to capture taste. Which to you think is...prettier, more chic, better suited, etc...

    This:

    http://www.katespade.com/perry-street-plaid-shawna/PXRU3851,default,pd.html?dwvar_PXRU3851_color=974&start=14&cgid=sale

    ....or this:

    http://www.katespade.com/signature-spade-harmony/PXRU3812,default,pd.html?dwvar_PXRU3812_color=265&start=20&cgid=sale

The price is similar (both are on sale, anyway) so don't judge on that....

    Thank you!

And while you were in DC protesting I was working in the Pentagon.  Friends of one of my roommates were there for the protest and they (and a few other stray people) stayed at our apartment.  Interesting times.

Athena ... I'm not seeing any pictures

Never mind ... I see links now

ETA ... I'm no fashionista but since I'm here I'll vote for #1

Cherryl ... I saw Roberta Flack at a DC nightclub in probably 1970 and we were all blown away with her voice.  That was before she was 'famous' and I remember when her first hit record came out.

The Vogues - There is Someone Walking Behind You, Turn Around Look At me (my DH sang this while following me around in high school, I married him 22 years later!)

My heart said #1 because of the bold design - so sick of always having dark colors.

I chose #2 because of the size. It does have a zipper but you can't easily see it.

    Thanks all!

Yes I was there. Only move away with retirement in 1999. I was 19 going on 20 and married barely a year in '71. My 1st husband drew a very low lottery number and was in the marines and though dispatched to Nam, the marines began to pull out and he landed in Okinawa for a year. So I was at lose ends. I took pictures of the protests and mailed them and occasionally cassette tapes of protest music to him drawing peace signs on the envelopes which often got him in hot water. Music that was banned on the armed forces radio.

I just remembered the one song I sent him and the singer......anybody remember John Prine? The song was Sam Stone. It's on YouTube.

Ok, adding this purchase to others I have made today on the streets, and this gen-X-er sends to tell you wonderful hippies of the good value system of peace and love, that that's all ok, AS LONG AS you bear in mind that the road to heaven passes through at least a few of the deadly sins, encompassing fashion, decadence, and self-indulgence.Tongue Out

Ironically, so does the road to paying one's bills. Can't feel generous with vendors unless I indulge first. Lions are not known for being practical.Foot in Mouth

Scuttlers: Yes to Black Magic Woman, to Patsy Cline (Crazy) and to Glen Miller.

Now I'm wallowing in John Prine YouTube world I found the forgotten "Dear Abby".

    Dear abby, dear abby ...

    My feet are too long

My hair's falling out and my rights are all wrong

My friends they all tell me that I've no friends at all

Won't you write me a letter, won't you give me a call

    Signed bewildered

    Bewildered, bewildered...

    Chorus:

    You have no complaint

You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't

So listen up buster, and listen up good

Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood

    Dear abby, dear abby...

    My fountain pen leaks

My wife hollers at me and my kids are all freaks

Every side I get up on is the wrong side of bed

If it weren't so expensive I'd wish I were dead

    Signed unhappy

    Unhappy, unhappy...

    Repeat chorus

    Dear abby, dear abby...

    You won't believe this

But my stomach makes noises whenever I kiss

My girlfriend tells me it's all in my head

But my stomach tells me to write you instead

    Signed noise-maker

    Noise-maker, noise-maker

    Repeat chorus

    Dear abby, dear abby...

    Well I never thought

That me and my girlfriend would ever get caught

We were sitting in the back seat just shooting the breeze

With her hair up in curlers and her pants to her knees

    Signed just married

    Just married, just married......

About a hundred life times ago I saw Kris Kristofferson at Yorkville (in its heyday) in Toronto and he introduced a new young singer - John Prine.  Both became favourites of mine.

Been without internet access since yesterday - I'm furious. They suspended my account as it was suspected of sending spam - not from my pc, but someone somewhere was using my email account. Do they email me to tell me and ask me to change my password? NO - they just cut me off. I went to friends this morning and used their pc to get in and change my password - come home and it works. They are supposed to call me at work - well they are going to get blasted.

Soteria - I am a huge fan of Crosy, Stills, Nash and Young - I did mention it but it was many many pages ago.

black magic woman - yes, and Jefferson Airplane, white Rabbit.

Chick - I remember dear abby.  Funny funny song.

i find it intriguing the connections that we find among ourselves.

My DD who is visiting from LA has been taking over my computer most of the time, so I'm not on line much until after January 2.

    good night all.

This is NOT a new restaurant, it is actually a family dinner!  We had 62 for Christmas dinner and are expecting at least 50+ for New Years day.  Everyone cooks, everyone cleans, and fun is had by all.

Oh crap!  pictures show when I am editing and as soon as I "save" they disappear! UGH! HELP!  I am on a MAC.  And the pictures are on Facebook.  YramAL - my brain must be totally gone tonight, it hurts.  I can't seem to "ctrl+shift" on the picture.  When I click on the picture it moves to the next picture.  Tomorrow is another day...

I have a bit of chemo brain tonight, so please over look me if I'm rambling without making sense.

I asked the mods about my avatar being upside down. They're checking on it. It seems some people on iPad see it right side up,

    Blessings

It's wonderful to be reminded of all the wonderful music that has been created over the years.  Looking at the names of the vocalists, it seems each one is memorable because they could make beautiful music with just their voice(s).  They didn't need any electronic enhancements for embellishments.  For some a piano or a guitar was all that was needed.  John Prine is amazing-anyone remember "Illegal Smile"?  Hoyt Axton, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks.

Scuttlers-I'm on a Mac and my pictures come from facebook. "ctrl+shift" on the picture and select "copy image address". On BCO, click on the little tree icon and "paste" the image address in the "image URL" box.

Hope this helps. It took me a long time to figure out how to do it.

Ahhhh, the power of music......Barbara Bush called the Oak Ridge Boys and asked them to sing to former President George H. W. Bush who was in intensive care.  Via phone they sang "Amazing Grace" and "Elvira" to him.  He has since been transferred out of icu and into a regular room.  Wishing him well!

Won't be able to get on-line much over the next few days, so I'll just take a moment now to say to everyone:

Elvira would make me get up and leave the room too Smile

Paula ... glad to hear your standing on your head is just a glitch.  Was wondering if maybe it was a distress symbol to say that the AC was kicking your butt.

Scuttlers ... wow ... big crowd.  Looking forward to the pictures.  I can just copy and paste from Facebook but I'm not using a MAC.

Now to decide what I'm going to do ... or not do ... today.
