Note to Lilah ... you need to be going all Mama dog on this puppy and showing him who is boss.  Wendel is so cute!  Guess it's just going to take a little bit for Lilah to get used to having him around with all that puppy energy.

So happy for our Linda and Eric ... hope they have a wonderful wedding day!

Kam ... I feel your angst about the retirement.  It felt very unsettling to me too when I walked away that last day.  The work routine really does take over your life and we get used to planning everything around it.  The good part is that you don't have to make any concrete plans ... just go with the flow for a while and see where life leads you.

Looking at the snow out my window ... and thinking Hawaii sounds wonderful.

    Waving at Fossil...

Wabbit, whereas I am looking forward to the very slight snow we are being promised tomorrow. It is expected to quickly turn into rain.

Thought of the Dan Fogelberg song as I wrote that.

And thinking of 70s MASTERS, how about Cat Stevens?

Well he looks like Ferocious Fossil Wendel to me now and what a cutie.  I think Lilah does need to turn into alpha mommy.  That way Wendel won't get too big for his britches.

We sill have our snow here....it is not so pretty in most places at this point and are due to get freezing drizzle today so the weather man says.  That is not making me the happiest of campers.  Guess I'll have to go with the flow though.  My 4-wheel drive keeps me pretty much ok but ice is not easy.....at any time, no matter what you have.

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday.  I'm looking forward to the week-end.....nothing much going on and with my daughter and sil living with us now ( daughter doesn't have a job as yet, but sil does ) the house is staying pretty tidy because she is keeping up with everything on a daily basis.  So I can just relax and week-ends will actually mean some solid me time leisure in the mix.  Sure can't knock that.  It's a new thing and the anticipation is huge.......I can really sleep in.

    Hah! Belinda, great minds.....

Same here on: Vivaldi, Miles David, JUDY GARLAND!!!, and Simon & Garfunkel.

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are at the top of my list - together and alone.

Cat Stevens was briefly detained by the FBI because his name appeared on a watch list a few years ago. I saw him on Larry King live - he sounded so refreshingly down to earth. I thought he would be one of these loony moony types.

This is a moving column from what is, I think, Maureen Dowd's conservative brother Kevin, who usually writes for her around this time:

    Hi Guys,

I'm still sick.  arghhh.  I feel for anyone who caught this bug.

I wanted to wish Linda and Eric the happiest of days tomorrow.  May they be blessed with a long marriage and wonderful years together.  Can't wait to see the pictures.

Blue ... I love Wendel.  I can't wait to meet him next summer.

Kam ... I haven't retired, but I did leave a huge corporate job to start my own little business.  I was so scared.  My parachute had given way.  There went the benefits and vacation pay, stock options, friends, etc.  I hope you enjoy your retirement.

Libby ... I hope I get to see more of you when you retire!

I need to take my sorry ass to the store and get some supplies for my mom.  She's coming back to my house on Sunday for a few more days.  I'm going to be one of those people I can't stand who go out in public when they're sick.

    hugs to all,

    Bren

Mary-Chapin Carpenter! The old folkies - Kingston Trio, Brothers Four, Pete Seeger, the Weavers, Chad Mitchell Trio. Carol King. Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler. Allison Krauss.

Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" is my absolute #1 favorite piece of music of all time.

Ugh. I had norovirus last weekend (6 lbs lost the hard way in 3 days).... It finally overcame DH last night on a full stomach. We had to go to the ER at midnight and left at about 4:30 this morning. After I got him home and settled, I was officially up for 24 hours. I got a couple hours of sleep this morning (to accompany the few minutes I snatched on the floor of his ER cube because THERE WAS NO CHAIR because the ER was so full they put us in what I called their "last sale room...") and then went out to get his Zofran script filled. (He is doing much better and just had a few saltines with a side of ibuprofen, chased with a fine Schewppes ginger ale.) OMG -- the stores were PACKED for a midday on a Friday! I said to one of the cashiers I know, "What happened - did every single person at home today decide to go to the grocery store the minute I started my car??" She said, "Oh, honey, it's going to snow tonight." WTF?! Last I heard on the 6:00 news last night we were going to get a few flurries. What changed?

So .... Off to see my cardiologist for a previously-scheduled appointment.

Glad to see the music discussion ... I love music. My favorite artists of all time are a duo called Lowen and Navarro. They are no longer a duo because Eric Lowen died earlier this year from ALS, but you can see some of their stuff on YouTube.

Oh dear, the dreaded Norwalk virus is making the rounds again.  Comforting wishes to your DH, Happy (less 6 lbs) Libby!

And warmest wishes to Lewing and hubby-to-be for a wonderful wedding and an even better honeymoon!

To all who are under the weather, good wishes for complete recoveries, quickly!

I'm a classical music nut myself -- anything by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Debussy and Brahms.  But in the 60's, my faves were the Beach Boys (unique and fabulous harmonies), the Beatles and Stones.  Elton John, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston came a little later.  I'm afraid I know now how my mother must have felt about rock music -- I absolutely cannot stand heavy metal or progressive rock, and most especially the guys who can't sing, but scream instead.  Having said that, I really did enjoy "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Honors event!

Ahhh, showing my age, I'm afraid!

And I am deeply, deeply "into" Gilbert and Sullivan (lowbrow opera, if you will). Grew up with them. Also, Lindasa - ALL of the Brandenburg Concertos.... Almost all of Mozart - especially the string quartets. Love Tudor music.

Ladies~I just have to get in on this music conversation! Anybody like Creedence Clearwater Revival? I still love their music, along with Bob Seeger, the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, George Thouroughgood, and Janis. Today my range is vast. I love Irish fiddles, Memphis Blues, Celine Dion, Willie Nelson, and of course all the oldies. I'm 62, so I grew up with the Beatles, Elvis, and the Rolling Stones. I love love love marching band music, which is why I loved Tusk by Fleetwood Mac.

I'm in the infusion room for my second round of AC. Been here since 10:40 am. It's now 3:40. Almost done with the cytoxan, then home I go.

Blue~Wendel is adorable. I love the pics of him.

    Blessings

    Paula

Brahms/Rachmaninoff/Prokofiev nut here, though I cannot abide opera or musicals. Go figure. And YES!! to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

Some of my favorite pieces are among the Brahms intermezzi. I used to play a few before the musical part of my brain up and died. I blame Medicare.

Norwalk virus? Sounds like it should be NorRUNS. From HL's description I don't ever want to get it ever. And ever. Glad that it seems to blow through pretty quickly tho. No weeks and weeks of suffering, like you get with Medicare.

Oh, HL - those socks you gave me? Same ones I gave to DD and Sis. Great minds and all that! I think that saying still works, even if you're on Medicare.

I forgot to mention that the rad techs gave me a box of cookies for Xmas. Like my Medicare silence can be bought with a box of Samoas. It'll take more than a box of cookies to silence me! At least two boxes of samoas and some trefoils. Jeez.
