Sue2690- Cancer IS inconvenient, big time:) My rads boredom is starting to fade a bit as the numbers ramp up. Today will be 20/33. I am also trying to distract myself with Christmas prep, shopping, etc. so I dont really "notice" rads every day. I do realize I am naked on a table surrounded by buzzing machinery, lol, but I sandwich the whole thing between errands. Yesterday's quest was for flower arranging supplies. Today I will begin my search of the surrounding woods for greens, pods , etc to use in the arrangements. I will look like a deranged deer with clippers!

Juneau, Ann, Sue, I am aching with jealousy over the hair thing. Mine is beginning to grow but S L O W. Also, its like baby hair, but when have we all seen a grey haired baby, I ask you!

Good morning lovely ladies- yesterday was pretty eventful, not by choice though. I went in at 0600 started to do the prep work change find a vein for an iv. I showed up but the veins did not. I was stuck 6 times before they finally found a viable vein. Ouch! I have bruises up and down my right arm. Get into surgery my PS has brought every size of implant ranging from 650-800 ccs. He told me before surgery that more than likely he would put in the 800 in both. Well he inserted 800 in both and realized that my left breast was way bigger than the right. To his shock and amazement he was able to fit the lowest of 650 in to make them even. I also ended up with drain tubes yay me! Surgery was finally over and off to recovery. Normal recovery time is 45-60 mins I was in there for 6 hours. Yes 6 freaking hours. Every time I fell asleep my O2 sats would drop. My lowest was 87 I had to have oxygen on the whole time. I was moved back into my preop room when I got a wonderful nurse who took great care of me. I was not allowed to be alone, because of the o2 sats dropping. At one point she told my DH it would be ok for him to go find us dinner, well during that time I guess I fell asleep and she came in to check on me and I wouldn't wake up. She would touch and pat me the reason I finally woke up was because she was pushing and yelling at me. She thought I had died because I was not responding. The last hour of my day was spent trying to prove I could keep my 02 sats up enough to go home. The last 15 minutes my 02 sats were 97-99. So now I'm home bruised to hell and back and I sleep off and on now. But I'm really not in any pain except for where he did Lipo at. I go see him today 130 so hoping I get the bandages off and can take a shower when I get home. Thank you a for being in my pocket yesterday. It was very nice to read all the support. I hope everyone had enough space with Juneaus new tatas in there as well lol! So my funny for yesterday was as they gave me my versed my sister mouthed the words "life in plastic, its fantastic" I told her I was singing that song yesterday morning before I got there. If you've never heard it, its called I'm a Barbie girl. Well I guess I started singing it down the hall on my way to surgery and gave everyone a concert. Then I yelled at my DH that I was going to make a boob remix tape of songs. I had already changed happy birthday to happy boob day to me. And on the road again to on the surgery table again. Guess I can add I'm a barbi girl to it now too. Lol

Websister- whohoo for ringing that bell! How amazing is that? When we had our cancer center at the hospital we would throw parties for our patients fit with cake ice cream and balloons. Glad your mom is doing well. Maybe we should all jump in her pocket to get her through it. Who's with me?!

Cowpower and Sue- I agree cancer is very inconvenient. I may not have had chemo/rads but I know the annoyance with it. I find I don't have enough energy to want to do anything. Christmas shopping and wrapping presents was very tiring. I don't know if its because I had to go and do it or what. I love shopping and its the only time I can go crazy with spending money. Lol

Chrisrenee, Seems like your day was quite eventful, glad it is behind you now. I am glad your sugery was a success, even if you have a dreaded drain in. I had one for four weeks after my mx. ugh! Your veins sound like mine/- I only miss my port when I need bloods or an IV. I hope the pain level stays nice and low and your ps appt. goes well. Breathe deep and keep that o2 flowing! Cant wait for the tata report.

Tazzy - you will love Los Cabos - I went last year and it is amazing. The ocean is a stunning colour and the waves are magnificent. I can't remember the resort we stayed at but it was very nice and we had an ocean view. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

    Hello all,

Yesterday I met with my MO to confirm that he did not recommend chemo with my oncotype of 19. So today I went back to the RO and had a CT scan and got blue Xs all over my chest. The tech seemed really surprised that I was so excited to be there and get my treatment started. So they said they could start radiation on Monday 12/10. The RO also mentioned he might give me 16 treatments rather than the other number. So great, I can push this through fast. I also started on Arimadex yesterday. Went to get a 90 day supply at the pharmacy and they said that would be $5.43. Great! Cheap generics...until I saw on the pharmacy slip that my insurance saved me $1087.56. WTH do patients with no insurance do? That is over $10 a pill without insurance.

Yes I feel a tremendous relief to be on a treatment plan. Stay positive and hope for not SE or recurrance!!!!Yippee

Tazzy - glad you had a good trip there and back, rest up ... wow, Los Cabos next week, great way to celebrate, enjoy being spoiled :)

Doxielover - wonderful to hear. You'll be done radiation in no time. I was surprised when my MO gave me my prescription for Tamoxifen to be filled at the Cancer Center rather than at my own pharmacy. Not sure why, but all paid for without involving my insurance.

Tazzy!!! welcome HOME!!! we missed you.... and now off you go again. I'm SO freaking jealous! ...and on a side note I'd like to request an updated avatar. I've know you for seven months and you MUST have started growing done semblance of hair by now!!! or at the very least changed your clothes?? :-P I mean I've lost mine and grown it back enough to walk around tips at the door an work this week. (of course I'd rather not but my hit flashes were SO BAD I absolutely HAD to rip that thing off my head!

so, I'm o on gabepentin now; its neurontin. and it sends to be writing my hour flashes a little bit. I'm not sure what's changed but in the least few weeks they've become UNBAREABLE! I haven't taken tamoxifen in two weeks, as I was told to stop one week before and for one week after my exchange. I start again tomorrow. I am now in bed and the usual sleeping order doesn't help my flashes. its cat, me, cat, husband. everyone is happily snuggled, but when a flash comes its all I can do to wait it out and remove my sleeping hat and scarf to cool off; instead of ripping three blankets off us all, LOL. the flash passes fast and I am glad were are all still snuggled since then of course I'm cold!!!! FUCK, FUCKING CANCER! F-U-C-K!!!!! (OK I feel better now, thanks)

Doxie: great news – rads will be over in a flash.

Websister: I was told that in Canada the cancer agency provides the hormone blockers as some insurance companies do not cover and they do not want to put us through all that treatment and then if the meds aren’t covered women will not get them… makes sense.

Juneau: I agree – a new avatar is required. My hair is growing back and at the back quite thick… pretty patchy though on top and sides I will update when I get back. Oh! and the new squishies look great. Bloody amazing actually.

Am off out tonight for a friends leaving party – they are off to Calgary then tomorrow evening out for dinner for a belated birthday evening with friends.

    Hugs to all xxxx

juneaubugg, I LOL'd at you finally having as much hair as a 9 month old baby.  Last year I was having a little hair length competition with my hubby who wears his at waist or below.  Now I'm looking at baby pictures on facebook and babies out in strollers hoping to find one with less hair than me.  Yes, I'm now having a hair competition with babies.  And cowpower, so true, who ever saw a grey haired baby?  I'll be thrilled if I spot one!
